Our company organized a team outing to the local minor league baseball game but made you buy your own ticket. For those that attended they gave out these comically small fleece blankets with the company logo on them. They are like 2’ by 3’ for some reason. Everybody had the Zoolander look trying to figure out what they were and why they were so small.
We’ve been losing folks to smaller banks that can pay more money and so leadership decided to have breakfast for “appreciating our hard work”…..at 8 am on a Friday. At the end of it one of them went on a rant about how the grass isn’t always greener on the other side all I could think is “you are really going to say the quiet part out loud?”
Bear Bryant won the SEC at Kentucky and he got a watch. Adolph Rupp won the SEC and got a Cadillac. The rest is history!!!!!1!!
Posted in the teacher thread, but this was the only gift I received during teacher appreciation week and it's about as good as it gets when you work in education...
Isn't that basically a "company store" situation? "Hey, instead of giving you money, we're gonna give you scrip only redeemable here."
Today at our department retreat, our medical director said we're seeing a decrease in travel nurses locally with more starting to transition into a permanent location. Said most of the travelers we're seeing do that have been traveling for quite a few years and want to get settled down.
I get to work from home instead of commuting an hour each way In other words they are dragging their feet with RTO
I won the "customer service" award for my fairly large school district. They asked me to come to the school board meeting and accept the award and a gift. I couldn't go due to having to coach a baseball game. Assistant super attendent and a bunch of other people come to my classroom the next day for photo opps. The gift you ask? A paper weight, and a novelty pen.
Company picnic is this weekend with paddle boats and tug of war. It's gunna be 100 degrees outside I'm out
Everyone got a bonus earlier this year. It was based on the company's performance meeting certain goals, so basically a profit sharing type bonus. I can't remember how much I was rewarded, it depended on hours worked. Since I didn't start until mid March, I ended up like 1 week short of the hours needed to get the full bonus. I only ended up clearing like 50% because for some reason they taxed it way higher than my normal pay check. My building had a snow cone truck earlier this week, everyone got one free medium snow cone. I can't really complain much though, I got a 20% raise because the company decided to raise wages across the board to meet market rate, and then they tacked on the annual raise, though that was a meager 2%. But you know can't really complain after getting a 20% raise.
My former company cut everyone's pay 10-20% during COVID, then later that year, I found out they got a $10mil PPP loan. I really really hate them!
I was happy there for a long time but senior leadership decisions my last several years eventually burned me out. I got a solid raise and a much more engaging and slower paced role when I left
Between having Mike Huckabee as our keynote speaker for our 2016 partner meeting one week after the election, and stealing from all the employees, I couldn't take anymore and quit. I'm just doing some part-time consulting on my own, now.
Zero chance I still have it. But I searched my messages and found a picture. Keep in mind this is one of the most affluent school districts in the state.. Spoiler
I'm going to leave out the paper weight because it says the name of my school district. Here's the rest of the gift bag. I'd forgotten a couple items. Hope you guys enjoy it more than I did.. Spoiler
My company sells company branded t-shirts to employees that were intended to be worn at work, then they said we couldn't wear them anymore. But they still sell them. Why the hell would I buy them if I can't wear them to work?
Got a $100 gif card to a newish local restaurant as a tip from a customer early this year. A couple months ago, wife and I went out for a date night. Plan to use the whole card and leave a healthy cash tip for he waitress. Bill comes, everything is going according to plan. $102 tab, hand her the gift card and a $50 and tell her no change needed. She immediately returns and tells me there is $0 on the gift card. I ask for the $50 back and hand her my card to put it all on there. I ended up leaving a $98 tip out of shame and embarrassment. Since I am the man and don’t work for them man, that is my closest I can relate to this thread.
Jeans/shorts were always $2 on the last Friday of each month. Due to the coldest day in history, we were allowed to pay the $2 on a Thursday or whatever! What a blessing! The $2 was pooled and went to paying for, you guessed it, pizza parties
The office was treated to Ocean Prime this past Tuesday for dinner which was fun. They also pay for our lunch every day.
He is actually a really good customer and I checked the balance on it right after I got it and it was there. I just waited to long to use it apparently. But still, it sucked.
You mean they withhold taxes for the amount, correct? Like your withholding % times the $400? They're not actually taking the $400 from your paycheck are they? If it's the former, you could probably ask them not to withhold, but you'd still owe income tax on it as it is income.
Oh I have another good one. I went above-and-beyond for a customer once and they gave me a gift card for a local brewery. Which they handed me on my way to the airport as I left the city to never return
