Not at all. You’re a Napoleon complex wannabe Ari Gold who throws out baseless racist shit because you can’t talk sports.
Unless he gets hurt or benched, I don’t see how Jameis doesn’t throw for 4,000 yards next year. 17 picks sounds pretty realistic, too. Hell, that would be more than any QB threw this year.
17 INTs is his average for his career in Tampa, so yea it's easily realistic. But what I was saying originally was towards the context of those INTs. He's going to try too hard and put NO in deeper shit at times. is AK going to take a huge load on the ground? I guess you could put in Hill to take pressure off whether he runs or passes, I mean NO did pay him a shitload. Jameis got Lasik, is working hard so lets see if he got his mind right. Because it's not the OL, Run game, defense, etc that affects someone's brain... like I mentioned, he can throw. but maybe he'll stop trying so hard
It’s not that ridiculous considering taysom hill is ass and jameis threw the best ball by any Saints qb last year
Let’s hope he does. He’s a gun slinger. Hope he gets it right here otherwise he’s out of the league. This year is do or die from him but I think he will do well.
I don’t care for Jameis or the Saints, but I think it’s ok to think he may have one of his better (best) seasons this year playing with more talent and better coaching than he previously had. He’s also coming off sitting a year where he ostensibly took time to reflect on his career and study the game from the sideline, which you could also assume makes him become a more mature and coachable player.
What, in his history, leads you to believe he would mature? He didn’t do it after multiple college transgressions. He didn’t do it after winning the Heisman. He didn’t do it after being the #1 pick. He didn’t do it after being given the keys to a franchise. He didn’t do it after struggling for multiple consecutive years. Why now?
I agree. I hope he does, I just don't feel confident watching him for 5 seasons with nothing really changing. You can only hope these players mature and grow, and maybe he does.. and he got the lasik and perhaps he doesn't. He just forces things and when he's in a bad situation and behind in a game he'll throw the dumbest passes and that's not the OL or coaches fault.
No one matures after getting a reality check by sitting out for a year or getting older or having kids. There is obviously no guarantee and he could very well be the same player he was in TB. But to speak in absolutes that it isn't possible is asinine
Because people change, that’s why. Maybe having an entire year away from being the man for probably the first time since he began playing organized sports was a wakeup call. Maybe it wasn’t, but it’s pretty absurd to just assume he can never change regardless of what he’s done in the past. Yeah, none of this would be surprising either. It’ll make the Saints a fascinating team to watch this year.
I agree. And I don't believe I was speaking in absolutes about him ever.. just speaking with an extremely low confidence. He could easily change and like posted above, he has a kid, sat for a year and could grow into a system. I mean, any top QB who has to start right away can fail when thrown into a fire and has so much pressure. Or a player who has been #1 his whole life without many hurdles. So, yes, lets hope he changes and sitting on the bench learning behind Brees helped him grow. I'm not sitting here rooting against him, well besides not liking the Saints since they're a rival so I will have to root against him...
He’s set up for success better in NOLA. He had what 3 staffs in 5 years in TB and only one was good and that was Arians for one year year and that was his last year. Bottom line, is if he can’t succeed this year he never will.
Tampa Bay fans going to be salty when he does well this year. Which is weird..: you guys got Brady, won a SB and will win the South again. Spoiler maybe, because Winston going to ball
we could not make the playoffs(I hope we do) and I'm Gucci.. we won a SB, I'm cool for like 5 more years
I don't think so. It didn't work out in tampa, but everyone moved on and it obviously has worked out for tampa. I can't imagine any real bucs fan would begrudge it also working out for him. Obviously nobody wants new orleans as a team to be good.
only 8 QBs who played in 15+ games last year threw for fewer than 4K yards. given Winston's aggression (never mind the 17th game), 4K yards should be easy if he stays healthy and doesn't get benched. i don't think 30 turnovers is impossible. maybe 22 INTs and 8 fumbles? it'd be awesome.
Think we saw last year with the season Donovan Smith had that some (definitely not most or all) of the OL issues in Tampa under Jameis were QB related with his shaky awareness and tendency to hold the ball too long.
For sure. Quick strikes to Kamara and Thomas are big design of the Saints offense. I think just the play design of offensive style will help him cut turn overs down. one thing I am glad about is Winston can go downfield. Something Brees had trouble with the last couple years.
Also think even if he’s good this year he will suck against TB. Tampa is really good on both sides of the ball. Winston will probably press too much those games and it will be ugly most likely.
I mean yeah. Saints have a good D, but the secondary is the weakest point. Certainly struggles at times.
Saints OL will have to play perfect to beat TB. The way TB got pressure especially in the playoffs on other teams was scary good
Wirfs helped but Smith played amazingly better than any other year we've had him. Most fans were ready to cut Donovan after this season, but he turned it around
