Went to a house party 3 blocks from my apt I hate large crowds, times square, and you can't drink openly. Fuck all that
okay lady and gentlemen, it's time for V-Day recs. Looking for a great sushi (omakase) place and currently deciding between Shuko and Brushstroke. Not looking to max out my CC but I do wanna go somewhere with great food.
I went to Tanoshi years ago, randomly, and it was amazing. Would prefer something in midtown or below for commutes sake but I'll certainly keep this in mind.
I haven't had a bad experience with them but I've heard horror stories of not having cleaning materials and all that. There's some real idiot operations going though. I got a random service through living social once and had to buy materials, then she was spraying cleaning shit on our toothbrushes/not wiping it up. And when I called the service he ended up cursing me out and telling me to "go back to my country" bc of my ethnic name. Ended up getting a refund plus a voucher Def gonna use wizard for when I move out though
Was also looking at Luxury Cleaning but my apartment isn't as swanky as the pictures on their website
Fuck Handy forever. I moved out but sent them to clean up the space and clearly specified in my request that it was a fully detailed move-out clean. Motherfuckers said they sent someone three (3) times and it never happened. I took a hit on the cleaning fee from my landlord. Fucking fuck Handy
Got two floor tickets to the xx on 5/20 at Forest Hills for sale. Got them but then realized I'm going to be out of town then Also I have an extra ticket for My Morning Jacket on 7/15 at Forest Hills
Had this for lunch a few weeks ago. Loved it. Imagine that will have a really good V-Day atmosphere as well. I made a reservation at Rafele in West Village. Have never been but it looks like it's tasty and has a good intimate vibe.
Awesome. Infatuation, who I trust but isn't infallible, scored them well. Good to hear that you enjoyed it too.
What's up with this snow storm Thursday? AKA: will my flight get cancelled out of LGA on Friday afternoon?
I work In the business and so far the airlines arent ruling it out. i can check tomorrow and see what they say if you want.
These bands are really good and fun shows for those of you who hang out in Brooklyn http://www.brooklynbowl.com/event/1422783-susto-atlas-road-crew-stop-brooklyn/
I seldom post but this inspired me. 15 East is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Do whatever you can to sit at the sushi bar - it's almost as if its two different restaurants. If you guys love tuna, I suggest each getting the basic omakase and then splitting the tuna flight (which is tuna 5 different ways/cuts x 2).
I highly recommend Handy because then you can be like me and tell your fiancé you "booked a handy" and watch as her loathing of you intensifies
One of the things I've been surprised about since moving to the city is that I thought they would be much better about clearing roads and sidewalks after snowstorms. Granted, it's a huge job to undertake, but I just expected better.
British Airways rocking $370 flights to Paris (JFK to CDG) Going in October. See you guys in Montmartre
i thoroughly enjoy visiting new york but couldnt live there generally i dont think. on the contrary, the access to constant cheap international flights could probably sway me if the job was cool. i think about that all the time and about applying in the city
Gonna be there for 4 days. Found sweet AirBnbs in Montmarte for like $150 a night. Just gonna chill, eat good food, drink wine, and not much else. Will probably hit the Louvre bc I didn't get to do that last time but besides that we're not doing much tourist stuff. We went to this place twice in the span of 3 days. Highly recommend.
Have you been to the Sacré-Coeur? Outside the Louvre, it's my favorite attraction in Paris. Nice uphill hike through windy neighborhood roads to the top of a beautiful church with great views of Paris.
Somehow I have been there. Beautiful spot. I was only in Paris for ~36 hours last year and stayed in Montmarte with some family. My gf will be leading the charge as she been to Paris a few times. She also wants to stay in Montmarte so I'm stoked about going back.
SO JEALOUS! Manhattan is definitely not for everyone, but I think there are neighborhoods that can suit anyones preferences. Though I think the only thing you'd have to grow accustomed to is public transportation. We had a car the 7 years we lived in the city, but really only used it when traveling. I was going to give you suggestions but it seems like you guys have it set! I did love Gerard Depardieu's restaurant when we went, highly recommend. I think our favorite night in Paris was going to eat there, taking a bottle of wine to go and sitting on the lawn outside the Eiffel Tower, drinking and eating macarons. I want to go back so bad.
Please bring the recommendations! I'd love to be able to bring some good restaurant or activity suggestions to the table.
Most of my recs are wine/champagne focused as our friend was a sommelier and leading the charge, not all in Paris but close enough here are the notes I took: Maison Ruinart (very old champagne house) Aux Crieurs de vin (Troyes, France) Au Passage (wine tapas) Le Dauphin (Le Chateubriand's wine bar) Willi's Wine Bar Chez Michel
The restaurant was called Le Bien Decide, not too far from the Eiffel Tower (we walked). Not super fancy or pricey but the food and wine were both fantastic. https://www.yelp.com/biz/le-bien-décidé-paris-2 There was another place that KJROD20 also loved that I forget the name of, hopefully he can help with that!
I found it! Chez Gabrielle, near the Arc de Triomphe. We ate here our last night in Paris and absolutely would have eaten there again had we had more time. https://www.yelp.com/biz/chez-gabrielle-paris
Homies if you are looking for a place to stay in Paris let me know. We have about 100 homes there. And the team there is awesome for recs too.
