Go to the Broken Shaker on the rooftop of the Freehand Hotel McSorleys, Dead Rabbit, Fraunces Tavern, Pier A, Old Town Bar Think about all the poor life decisions you made that resulted in you not being in the Hamptons / Montauk on July 4 weekend
Joe's on West 4th is a good slice. My go to sports bar is Fools Gold bc of their beer. The food is also good, tons of TVs, and attractive/normal women can be found there. Also, ski ball. If you go to Williamsburg then try Vinnie's pizza. If you're looking for good cheap meals you should give Xi'an Famous Foods a run. Lamb noodles are so legit
You could probably get Lucali or Di Fara that weekend. Roberta’s is also good and you can sit in the outdoor space Sauce, Johns of Bleecker, Joe’s, Angelos, Keste, Don Antonio’s, Una Pizza Napoleonta, Sorbillo, Luzzos
Dont forget the spicy lamb sandwich at Xi’an. Fools gold is legit, but never playing big game hunter there again, i once got bamboozled.
Absolutely. Try every deal site you can find before resorting to that. Downtown Brooklyn might be cheaper than the city and the express trains are everywhere
It's been several years since i visited so maybe things have changed, but NYC is like the perfect place for doing the name your own price thing on priceline. You pick the region and the star rating and how much you want to pay. I ended up staying at a 4 star hotel a block from Grand Central Station for like 40% off. Obviously free is better, but being right where you want to be on steep discount is also nice.
Why would you want to stay on Long Island? Do you mean Queens or Brooklyn? If you were to stay on LI (outside the burroughs), the closest and most direct train on the LIRR would be Great Neck probably, which is about 30-35 minutes. I would definitely look in Brooklyn in Red Hook or Williamsburg. Lots to do there by itself.
devine there is a courtyard Marriott on east 92nd street where our family stays when they come visit us. I believe the rates are reasonable and easy access to 2nd ave subway.
I plan on doing the tourist things. Ground zero, Statue of Liberty, Central Park. Mets game. Mcsorleys. Katz’s deli Any other must sees you guys have? Or some under the radar things you always recommend? Basically a dos and don’t. We’re staying in the theater district
From my limited personal experience of trying to do mostly touristy shit: Do not do: times square, NBC studio tour Do: grand central station, cookies at levain bakery, wander around aimlessly
I feel like I have to do Times Square just because. Not for long and it’s walking distance. Any good bars there?
Guy’s All American Restaurant is there (maybe), Bubba Gump shrimp, Applebee’s has a nice 2 for $50 deal.
Joes south of times square is good to reward yourself from dodging tourists and seeing billboards 1435 Broadway, New York, NY 10018
