The werewolf of Russia killed almost 100 and he was just caught in 2012. Green river killer was arrested in 2001. The grim sleeper was just arrested and sentenced last year. There are plenty
We need to expand this to true crime in general, not just serial killers. Shit like the Robinhood Hills murders, Johnny Gorsch, the Black Dahlia, etc are fascinating.
I googled Murder News to see if there are any good murder news websites Huffington Post has a murder tag http://www.huffingtonpost.com/topic/murder But surprisingly, through 5 pages of results, there are no sites specific for murder news
Historium has a podcast episode about the guy in Germany that lived in a cage and had almost 1000 victims. Christman G something.
We have a huge serial killer investigation ongoing in Toronto right now. Summary/interesting things to note: - 66 yr old Bruce McArthur has been charged with 6 murders. 3 of those victims have had remains identified. 4 other unique sets of remains have been recovered but not yet matched to anyone. The victims all appear to be openly gay men or closeted gay men, and the majority of victims are of south asian descent. - The remains recovered so far were burried in decorative planters recovered from one home. The killer worked as a landscaper and used this home (a married couple own it and live there) as his home working base of sorts. Police have seized other planters from across the city for investigation; they took the planters if the sniffing dogs reacted to them. Essentially this guy appears to have spread his victims' remains across the city. - The police had him under surveillance for a while and finally arrested him when a young man was spotted going into his apartment. They found that man, a sex worker, tied to the bed. - The killer worked as a mall Santa Claus some years. - The investigation is still ongoing with the potential victim count unknown. It's unclear if this started in 2010 or many years prior and as the police continue their excavation work new remains may be found. This reddit post has a good summary:
I can do 5 off the top of my head. 1. Dahmer- Because once you start eating people you hit new levels 2. Ridgeway- Strictly for the quantity 3. Bundy- Dude was so insanely insane. 4. Ramirez- Pure Evil 5. Gein - Horror films would not be the same w/o him.
Bill James (baseball nerd) wrote a book about a dude that supposedly killed between 40 and 100 people https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_from_the_Train one of the crimes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villisca_axe_murders
1. Ted Bundy - A fucking monster who still had people believing he was a good guy to the end 2. John Wayne Gacy - A killer clown who had damn minions who helped him. 3. Dahmer - Seems to be the most torn of all serial killers, also tried to make zombies 4. Toy Box Killer - I mean, the tape alone is one of the scariest things ever created 5. BTK Killer - Probably the worst human being that's ever existed outside of Hitler.
Did Toy Box Killer actually kill outside of the last victims family member? I thought he drugged them then let them go and they just never remembered what happened
I think he had 3 confirmed and is suspected of many more. But yeah for the most part he drugged them then let them go. Most of them apparently wouldn't even remember it. The scariest thing is how he apparently had neighbors / family members who were involved. That's some straight Texas Chainsaw / House of Thousand Corpses type shit.
What’s even worse is how when they were interviewing the victims reportedly they’d break down because they actually started to remember the stuff he did to them.
And almost all of the people involved have been paroled. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Parker_Ray
Shawcross was also nuts when you consider he murdered two pre-teens, was released, then killed like a dozen hookers.
Has anyone itt read Deviant or Helter Skelter or any other serial killer novel? If so was it worth a shit?
BTK and Ridgeway are kind of Neck and Neck for me but I think looking back, Dennis Rader is probably more sinister. Gotta look into the Toy Box killer.
Anyone know of any good audiobooks on this subject? I’m listening to one on Dahmer right now and be would like some more good ones.
It would seem to be much more difficult to be a serial killer nowadays in America, with all of the cameras and forensics out there.
God damnit. HH, Panzram, and Fish definitely deserve to be on that board. This is a difficult power ranking.
Last Podcast on the Left if you don't already listen to it. It's dark humor but I'll be honest, I think they paint a more accurate picture than the podcasts/books that try to make them as scary as possible. Last Podcast humanizes them.
Is this safe for work? I mean there is hardly anyone here since it's a college athletic department during spring break, but you never know when someone may walk or stop by.
I might pop in some headphones. It's probably the most demented thing ever made. It's his explanation to women who are in the toy box what is about to happen to them. Talks about how he, his neighbors, his dog, his girlfriend, etc. are going to sodomize the girl.
I saw a show on one not too long ago where they claimed one guy beat 8 people to death in a single wide trailer. I think it was somewhere in south Georgia. Tried and convicted him of it by himself. Still blows my mind how one person could beat 8 others to death without someone managing to get out or something.
For me Albert Fish, HH Holmes, guys like Panzram all make top 15 but there are so many more twisted people that came after them. Definite trailblazers in the Murder Industry no doubt.
There's just so much mystery with them and it's hard to really put yourself in that world. Most of the things we know about them are from their own mouths and Fish was a damn troll. There's a possibility that dude only killed Grace Bud and was just a sick bastard sexually. It's different when there are interviews with people like Dahmer, Bundy, etc. One of my friends lived down the street from BTK in Wichita for years.
The thing that I remember from the LPOTL eps of Fish was that he stuck needles in his taint and broke them off in there and shoved a rose stem in his dick hole.
