I dont know what people were expecting from J-Lo and Shakira. They weren't asked to perform due to their singing ability.
They can sing ok but they aren't Keys, Adele or Lady Gaga. They are good looking, wear little clothing and can dance. That's their main appeal at this point.

I think you are talking about the guy who came out with Shakira. That's Bad Bunny. The artist who came out with JLo was J. Balvin. Both guys are awesome and I was really glad that they included legit reggaeton stars to join them and not fucking Pitbull
Pitbull not being there was a surprise, but it would have been not good and too predictable. Plus, he'd want to do an entire song or two. I know those guys, but have no idea how popular they are with the latin/hispanic community. I assume they are very popular and thus I just kinda went along with their inclusion.
Bad Bunny are J. Balvin are 1 and 2 right now in popularity in reggaeton. Was cool the Shakira (Colombian) was with Bad Bunny (Puerto Rican) and JLo (Puerto Rican) was with J. Balvin (Colombian). Was kinda surprised after they both came out that they didn’t do part of one of their songs together.
To add onto you: Theyre the two guys featured on that cardi Bs song I like it like that. It’s the Super Bowl in Miami. Let Miami express itself. Outside of bringing out Ozuna or Romeo Santos, I’m not sure there’s a better fit than J Balvin or Bad Bunny right now. I get JLo and Shakira are great cultural fits as front people, but those guys are true expression of current Latin music. I’d invite anyone to give their music a try.
