Smh this thread is so sad. This franchise has been complete ass for a decade and some of you still find a way to spin anything they do as a positive.

 

If they worked him out and thought he could help the team. Especially if my team had a first-year head coach that was trying to implement his system and culture and the signing could aid that. Even if he doesn’t contribute much on the field and his biggest impact is on team chemistry. Cuz your 2020 back-up/third string TE Tyler Davis had zero yards on zero catches. And only played special teams.

Not a fan of the team and agree they’ve been shit forever. And no spin needed. Just think your stance on the Tebow signing is silly.

 

So no, you don't want your team to sign him but you'll come up with all this locker room glue guy bullshit to justify why you think the Jags should.

 

Signing a media circus with no intent of him making the team would be even more dumb. Just a complete waste of time for a distraction.

 

Like I said, if he could help my team then yeah sure. And I think you’re overestimating the media circus. TL is your headline maker now. Tebow will just be filler.

Honestly I’ll be shocked if he’s on the team Week 1. And before now I couldn’t care less. But now hoping he turns into a key contributor on a Wildcard run. Just to see if you’ll change your mind.

 

The rumor of him signing is front page news. You're kidding yourself if you don't think it'll be one of the top storylines of camp. It's just an unnecessary distraction for a young team with a new staff.

 

Excuse me for not being a massive homer living in an alternate reality where everything the Jags do is positive. You should try it sometime.

 

Enjoy what? We went 1-15, hired a new staff, and drafted a QB. We've done that multiple times over the last decade. Lots of people were gassed up then too. I hope this time goes differently but it's pretty dumb at this point to spin everything they do as positive at this point.

That's rich to say after 1-15. Lawrence is a nice building block but he hasn't taken a snap in the league yet. We might win 4-5 games this year.

You can be a fan without being a homer. You can be a fan and still be critical.

Did you start rooting for a college football team the day you enrolled or did you root for a team growing up?

 

The last time we saw the Jags, they went 1-15. Hopeful future? Sure. But there's been nothing to enjoy lately.

I've been a Bama fan since birth. Played baseball in college and we didn't have a football team so never needed to change. Yankees fan since about 7. Never had an NFL team before the Jags when I moved here. Becoming a Jags fan as an adult doesn't fit your front runner narrative.

By all means let's make this personal bc I don't drink the kool-aid for every move the Jags make.

 

Jesus, can you 2 get a room?

 

- Hired one of the top college coaches of all time to try his hand at the NFL for the first time. That alone is intriguing.

- Just drafted the greatest QB prospect of the last decade considered a generational talent.

- Drafted one of the top classes of any team in the league, and that class is receiving A/B grades from everyone ranking drafts.

- Drafted well-known college players that will make it interesting to see their transition to the NFL.

- Will likely be able to watch more Jags’ primetime games with Urban and Trevor in the mix.

- The rest of the division didn’t do anything to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. In fact, one team lost the best QB in your division and another went out a made Carson Wentz its starter.

If you can’t say there’s anything to enjoy about your team (not even my team) lately then your expectations are too Bama and need to be based more in reality.

 

None of that changes what I said. There's things to be hopeful for but there's been nothing to actually enjoy for a long time.

 

Serious question, not even being sarcastic. I know you’re a huge sports fan, especially football. I know a lot of people on here are like me and love the draft. So asking you, did you enjoy the draft? Would think being that dedicated to an NFL team and that team has a good draft that it would be enjoyable.

 

The fact that the draft is the most enjoyable part of the year for a Jags fan kinda says it all.

 

Stop being Debbie Downer. If you’re loyal enough to stick with a franchise through the shit years then it should be easy to acknowledge and enjoy the little things. You said there’s nothing to enjoy. Ask any Lions’ fan if they’d trade you new coach, new QB, off-season, even owner. Being a bama fan, when you whine about about the Jags and refuse to see a positive shift, then you come across as delusional, spoiled, or just trying to overcorrect. Getting mad about Tebow is basically being pissed that the stadium added something to the menu. It will either be a success and sell, or they’ll cut their losses and throw it in the trash. This Tebow shit has literally been going on for a decade. The Jags/UF stuff is just old. It's a recurring theme for the team and it rarely works. No other nfl panders to the fan base by going after local college guys like we do. Just when we get some excitement going we have to go do some dumb shit. I can be excited for the future and still critical of the team when they do dumb shit to remind everyone why we're the Jags. That's the difference between a fan and a homer. You're a UF/Tebow fan. You're not a Jags fan. You view the move differently bc of that. You also don't live here and haven't seen people worship and beg for him for over a decade.

 

I think it's sad that you can't be critical of anything the team does. You spin every move as a positive. You defend every move they make. We've lost 10+ games in 9 of the last 10 seasons and you still find a way to support everything they do. I'm just not wired that way. At some point over the last decade I realized the Jags are just a bad organization. I stopped being overly hopeful bc we got a new coach or a new QB bc we've done it so many times and they've all gone poorly. Lawrence is special and maybe he's that nuclear moment the Jags need to reset the franchise but the Jags have taught me to not get my hopes up.

If he makes the 53 man roster, we can re-evaluate things, but this isn’t a big deal.

getting the franchise qb, a coach with a winning pedigree and a staff that actually knows what they’re doing is the story. If you don’t have some degree of hope at this point, you’re trying to be negative.

 

I don't want my comments to come across like I'm not hopeful. I am. But I can still be critical. And maybe I'm overreacting to Tebow but it's just a reminder of the dumb UF pandering we've done for so long. Just when I think things may be changing we go and do that.

 

At the risk of being labeled a UF homer who also spins everything involving the Jags franchise into a positive, I think this is pretty awesome.

Fan base is full. I’m told the franchise already caters too much to UF as it is.
