Re: Jag Fans - new stadium name

I understand, but I don't think it's anything to be embarrassed about. I mean the team I have rooted for my whole life plays in the Louisiana Superdome. The stadium 10 minutes from my house is simply called Cowboys Stadium and it is one of the most impressive sports structures in the world.

I really can't explain how pumped I am to see what Mike Walker does this year. He was such a fucking baller at UCF, easily my favorite player and was absolutely hilarious off the field.

Him and B-Marsh used to have epic basketball games at the rec center. Both of them and Chris Johnson have been tearing up downtown Orlando this offseason blowing mad :rain:.

BTW Vic was being sarcastic about the tickets for UNF and JU. They have been doing that for a few years. I think he was talking about this tickets for charity promotion, but dont see how it is going to be a big ticket jump...
    http://www.jaguars.com/news/article.aspx?id=9141

Also my buddy wrote the question to vic about the unf/ju tickets and it was funny to see him go from :feelsgoodman: to  once he realized vic's sarcasm

    Re: Official Jags Thread

I don't think sarcasm comes off well in a written Q&A column such as that. Some of the questions he rips to shreds are legitimate questions that he simply does not want to answer. I see no need to rip people especially when you are a paid employee of the Jaguars.

Jax suffers from a lack of quality football reporters. Vic is and will always be a mouthpiece for the Jags as long as Wayne signs the checks. Don't even get me started on Vito Stellini. I have heard from multiple folks that he is constantly badmouthing the Jags to other NFL beat writers. Plus, he looks like a fucking alien. I saw him and fatass David Lamm walking into a game once together and thought I had entered another dimension.

Who all is going to the Denver game? I will be able to make down from Tally since FSU will have an away game on the Saturday before. Its going to be fucking embarrassing if a lot of Jags/Gator fans show up supporting Denver. I have read where a lot plan on doing this even some who are so called Jags fans just because they say they are Gator fans first.

DBL you aren't a season ticket holder, your Daddy is... stop pretending like you support the team. I hate the team, but have owned more season tickets than you.

Bombay, I have supported the team in the past...owning 4 tickets for 3 of the last 4 years. I just don't enjoy going to the games. It's brutal hot, I hate the team & the gameday experience isn't worth the price of admission. Now I will likely pick up a few single game tickets & travel to Indy for their game there, but that's about it.

I don't know. We have a great time at games. Big ass tailgate. In past years almost always sat in West Club and had a blast. This year we got a big group together below the BudZone. I do not have too much additional NFL experience to compare it to but it is equal to other I have been to (Tampa, ATL, Charlotte). I guess I don't expect it to be NYC or Chicago.

By and large, the fans do suck. They are college fans and don't understand the pro game. That will change as the years go by.

No, it takes a generation growing up with the NFL. Far too many fans in Jax are still more concerned with college teams. I think the 20 to 30 something crowd in Jax (at least the football fans) understand the NFL game.

Disagree. The people that grew up with them as their team are just now getting close to being able to buy tickets. Way too many people in this city that root for other teams bc they did so before the Jags were here or bc they grew up with another team. People like you. As the kids that grew up being Jags fans get older, it'll start to change.

Re: Official Thread for the Jaguars - America's Team

Completely agree, and people have to realize that the franchise is still young compared to most of the other teams in the league. With that said I would think the majority of the older fans grew up supporting some other NFL team before the Jags came. So as the as the years go by you get more people who will grow up Jags fans and become more loyal.

    Back on topic:

Do you think this is finally the year the Jags take the South? Why?

I think they'll likely compete for WC, but fall short. Del Rio will finally get fired & the will make the playoffs next year.

    Del Rio has to go.

Re: Official Thread for the Jaguars - America's Team

No, I think this team will be better but you still have two teams with actual QBs in front of us: Colts and Texans. I think the Jags flirt with the playoffs this year and draft a QB in 2011. Also think Del Rio gets at least one more year. I am not the biggest Del Rio fan but he has been absolutely handicapped by poor drafts and poor free agency decisions.

Re: Official Thread for the Jaguars - America's Team

No, they aren't winning the South. They won't compete for a WC, either. 8-8 overall, probably. As for Del Rio, I don't know. I'm on the fence there. He's handicapped bc he has a very average QB. Hard to win much in the NFL without a very good QB. A lot of young pieces are in place for the team to improve, but we'll have to get a better QB before we can compete for the playoffs. I don't think David is as bad as some do, but he's not good enough to win games on his own and he will occasionally lose a game on his own. The NFL is a QB's league and we need to find a better one in next year's draft.

Agree 100%. You ain't winning consistently with David Garrard. Guy is a top-end backup QB but not a starter. More Jay Fiedler than Peyton Manning.

Del Rio chose to go with Gerrard though... you can blame him, as he is responsible. Truth be told, he would have been gone already, but Weaver gave him that extension & doesn't want to pay out $5 million per year to fire him.

He's better than a backup. He's somewhere 15-18 or so in the league. He's a very average starting QB.

Sure, he did but his options were Garrard or Leftwich. Garrard is the better option of the two and I actually applaud Del Rio for sticking his neck out like that and going with Garrard over a first-round pick. Leftwich was fucking garbage. Unfortunately, both are lazy.

What was the other choice, Leftwich? He's not responsible for the draft, so you can't blame him for it. Garrard has been better than Byron, so I'm ok with his decision to go with Garrard. It was the better of two shitty choices.

Re: Official Thread for the Jaguars - America's Team

That decision was the correct one, but they should have drafted Gerrard's replacement already. They have been waiting for 3 years when they could have been grooming someone. Now they are stuck with him for the next few years while they get someone ready.
