just got the text, that fucking sucks. It figures that one of the few fa's that pans out gets injured. Thankfully, it's his other acl (dunno if that's actually better or not), and you know he'll be rehabbing soon as he has a great work ethic. If there's a bright side, at least we'll see what Lane and Hart can do with starter's reps.

The biggest issue with Garrard is that he's probably the most inconsistent QB in the league. He has had a couple excellent game and a couple shit bags. He's really a crap shoot. I didn't bother to check the NYJ schedule if they have a tough opponent I'd probably go with Garrard against the texans.

i would start any qb playing our (houston's) defense right now. it's pretty bad

that said, this week should be a high scoring game with like 700 yards passing between both qb's

I am starting Garrard but its only because no one else is available. Serious potential to net you negative points.

meh, I got Sanchez vs Cleveland, but the browns have been holding teams out of te endxone. the Texans would let a HS team throw all over them. I'll gamble on Garrard this week, but I think Sanchez could have an ok outing. I think the jags will have at least 2 maybe 3 to 4 throwing TD's on Sunday, of course they'll give up 6 to Houston though.

Re: Official Thread for the Jaguars - coached by a mental midget

Expect the Colts to pull their shit together eventually. Really just betting on the Wild Card at this point, which I think we can all agree is an accomplishment, considering our expectations when the season started. 9 wins probably gets us there.

    Remaining games:

    @
New York Giants - L; they're going to murder Garrard

    @
Tennessee - Tossup. Can definitely be a win, but we all know what kind of game we tend to play on the road

    vs
Oakland - W; Playoff teams beat teams that they're better than, an we're better than the Raiders. If the games was on the road, I'd be all :ohnoes: because of how absolutely terrible we are on the west coast.

    @
Indianapolis - L; Already pulled off one win against them this season, and that's all I can honestly expect.

    vs
Washington - W; Same as Oakland.

    @
Houston - Toss-up; We know both team's Secondarys are turrible, but the game is in Houston. Expect a game like last week's.

Win the two we should expect to, and at least one of the toss-ups, and I think the WC is ours. Pull off another W against Indy, and we can take the division.

I don't know, it will probably take 11 wins to get the wild card with Baltimore, Pitt, NE, and the Jets. Thing is, I think 10 has a chance of winning this division.

We had a few WTF call today.

    - 1st and goal at the 5, no Mojo on the field. Ok, he was gassed. Get him a play off. Welp, Browns called timeout... and we don't come back with MJD? We throw and take a sack. Marcedes bails us out.

    - On the last TD series, why was Jennings is on 1st down. That's dumb. We'd just come off the 2 minute warning timeout. Not only was that dumb, but we run a toss fucking pitch from the 6 inch line? The fuck? Jennings got hit at the 6. That would have been a killer if he goes down there.

Moral of the story: When at the 5 or in, and coming off a timeout, put Mojo in the damn game.

Other WTF moment - Mincey doing the gator chomp after his first sack. Leave college at college, please. Also, the WR's were a major liability today. Garrard didn't play well, but the WR's and Marcedes definitely contributed to his INT total. In the end, this season is starting to feel like our last playoff run, and this is a fun team to watch.

Re: Official Thread for the Jaguars - the DBL All-Stars

    haha @ thread title.

Ok, let's have some real talk. Does anybody think we actually win the division? I honestly don't know.

At first glance, I'd say no bc of the schedule.

    @ NYG - Loss
@ Tennessee - Would have said loss a few weeks ago, but they look like a mess now. I'll give it a :idk:.
    vs Oakland - Win
    @ Indy - Loss
    vs Skins - Win
    @ Houston - Loss

Having all 3 1st half division games at home has really helped us to this point. Having all 3 on the road in the 2nd half is a bitch. Going 3-3 to end the season won't get it done. Looking at Indy's schedule, I think they finish out 5-1 at worst.

    vs SD - :idk:
    vs Dallas - Win
    @ Tennessee - :idk:
    vs Jax - Win
    @ Oakland - Win
    vs Tennessee - Win

Maybe they drop one to SD or @ Tennessee, but they very well could run the table. Looking at Houston's schedule, they have it even tougher than we do. vs Tenn, @ Philly, vs Balt, @ Tenn, @ Denver, vs Jax is brutal. No way they win the division.

Overall, the Jags have benefited from a very easy schedule to this point, but that's over now. I think the feel good we have now could come crashing down, espcially with Indy having an easy road to end the season. Would be another kick in the nuts for the casual fan and probably the nail in the coffin for JDR.

Now, all that said, who knows what happens? Maybe we go to NY and pull some shit out of our ass? Maybe we pull one out in Indy or Houston? If we can finish 4-2, we'll give ourselves a shot. Anything less and forget about the playoffs.

Re: Official Thread for the Jaguars - the DBL All-Stars

4-2 and we're headed to the playoffs, but I see 3-3 or 2-4 down the stretch. The Giants will absolutely manhandle both our lines, and Nicks will probably gain 200 yards. It cannot be overstated how putrid the Browns offense was yesterday, and we won't see an offense that bad for the remainder of the season. This team does have faith in itself, however, and I hope our good luck continues.

I do because that's a real difficult stretch. They're also catching those teams when they're finally playing well. Dallas and SD will be tough games for the colts, and the second game between us could determine the division winner. should be a fun close to the season.

Re: Official Thread for the Jaguars - the DBL All-Stars

If we have want to have any chance at all down the stretch we are going to need to see a HEAVY dosage of MJD. Houston, Indy, Washington, and Oakland all have terrible run D's. Tennessee is in full on melt down mode right now and NYG are going to wood shed us.

Just thought I would mention this, the guy who came in to replace Vince Young yesterday Rusty Smith is a Jacksonville native who played ball at Paxon and Sandlewood. He moved to Sandlewood when they had Maurice Wells and Jamar Hornsby because he knew he would get looks and damn if he didn't make it work out for him. I grew up with Rusty playing basketball and baseball and there is no way in hell you would have ever pegged that guy for an NFL QB, kind of crazy. Also his parents own Russ-Doe's Sandwich Shop over there by the stadium on Church street, I'm sure dbl is familiar .

Hard to see this team winning the division but crazier things have certainly happened. Still too many holes and our schedule here on out is damn tough.

Regardless, very good season for the Jags. The young guys seem to be playing well. MJD looks healthy again. Hell, Garrard looks good (the WRs killed him yesterday).

Underwood was really disappointing yesterday. He had a chance to step up and prove he was more than a practice field all star and he almost cost us the game several times. Will MSW be back next week? I had no clue he was even questionable for this game.

Pretty sure he was injured in the texans game, hopefully it was just precautionary. Underwood also doesn't need to be returning kicks anymore, deji's so much better.

Jorts, how do you see the rest of Indy's schedule shaking out? I think you lose two more, but you never know with peyton and co.

Re: Official Thread for the Jaguars - the DBL All-Stars

    It’s 2007 all over again
    Jags gaining momentum
Sunday, December 5, 2010 By Vic Ketchman, jaguars.com senior editor Print Email Comments

NASHVILLE—It wasn’t the purple fedora, but with each succeeding week the ensemble David Garrard wears into his postgame press conference gains in flair and fashion, much as the team Garrard quarterbacks improves in substance and style.

On this particular Sunday, Garrard walked to the podium outfitted in a tastefully blue suit that was perfectly complemented by a stark-white dress shirt and stunning-yellow tie. Around Garrard’s neck hung a strategically-draped scarf of blended blue and gray stripes. The quarterback, an admitted fashion bug, is on his game, baby, both on the field and at the podium.

Actually, Garrard didn’t have to do much in guiding the Jaguars to a 17-6 victory over the Titans at cold and snowy LP Field. Don’t be fooled by the 17 points. The Jaguars could’ve scored a lot more, but why risk it? All 17 points were scored in the first half, which left the Jaguars to do little more on offense in the second half than hold onto the ball and kill the clock. The outcome of this game was never in doubt. The Jaguars dominated from beginning to end.

The purple fedora? Come on, you remember the fedora. Garrard had it perched atop his head as he strode into the postgame locker room at Heinz Field following a win over the Steelers that propelled the Jaguars to a playoff berth and a return trip to Pittsburgh. Three years later, there are indications Garrard and the Jaguars are headed back to the playoffs.

All they have to do is win three more games, maybe only two more games, provided one of those wins is in Indianapolis two weeks from now. That’s where it is. The Jaguars don’t wanna talk like that, but they know it’s that way.

“This team is resilient. This team has bought in. They brought in the right guys that are hungry to win. We’re not going to beat ourselves this year. It truly is a team and everybody has bought into that idea,” Garrard said.

The Jaguars are 7-5. They were 7-5 last year, which they finished with four straight losses after heading into that stretch of games as the leader for a wild-card berth.

What’s the difference between this 7-5 team and last year’s 7-5 team?

“Last year’s 7-5 didn’t have us in first place,” coach Jack Del Rio said.

“Same guys, just more mature,” guard Vince Manuwai said. “Look at this locker room; everybody is excited. The morale is better than it was last year.”

“Last year at this time, we didn’t feel the same way. We’re excited. That’s the difference,” tight end Marcedes Lewis said.

Truth be known, and we knew the truth last year, the 2009 Jaguars weren’t very good. They rode a soft schedule to 7-5 and the national media was outraged by the chance the Jaguars might make it into the playoffs. There was relief when the Jaguars collapsed.

None of that is true this year. This is a good team playing its best football at the right time of the year. This is a team no one will wanna play. This is a finesse team’s nightmare, which is to say a team that can physically beat you up.

Does all of that sound familiar?

“It’s a different team with a different mentality. The difference is we’re still improving. We’re still climbing that mountain,” cornerback Rashean Mathis said.

That’s exactly what the Jaguars were in 2007, when they won in Pittsburgh twice in three weeks and came close to giving the Patriots their only loss of the season. This is, by all appearances, ’07 all over again.

Now, all we need is the purple fedora. When will it make its reappearance?

Agree with Vic, it does feel alot like 2007. Now if we dominate Oakland like we did back in '07, then the resemblance will be uncanny.

Rashad Jennings averaging 7 a pop doesn't hurt either, he should be way more involved in the run game from now on. Marcedes meanwhile has quietly solidified himself as one of the best red zone targets in the league.
