The offense isn't made for him but the guy simply cannot block and is always hurt. He was hurt a lot in Denver too iirc
Allen and Odrick would play the same role in this defense. I think it's very reasonable to see the correlation
You guys know I've been overly critical of several Bama players over the years. I'd love to draft Jonathan Allen. He's not only insanely talented but he's one of the hardest workers I've seen under Saban. He had total respect from everyone in the complex. Players, coaches, managers, etc. I think he could be a guy that could help change the mindset and attitude of the team. His ceiling won't be as high as some combine freaks but his floor is very high. Add in the character and personality traits and I think he'd be a great pick. Of course I thought Rolando McClain would change the Raiders atmosphere too so you can probably ignore me.
I thought he'd be solid. Hard to say he sucked from day 1 when he earned the starting job in camp. I honestly think a lot of his issues were Rex Ryan. Start, bench, start, bench... that shit fucks with a 22 yr old's confidence. That stuff ruined his 1st year and then he was hurt all of the time. I thought Kirkpatrick would be out of the league in 2 years. He's turned into a solid CB though. It's just so hard to project players bc it's only about 25% talent. The est if where they go and how they fit in. I have no doubt that Milliner would have been fantastic in NE but Hightower would have sucked ass for the Jags.
Dude you are completely nuts if you really blame Rex Ryan for Milliner being a stiff. Rex is one of the best defensive coaches in football. Milliner would have been terrible in New England or anywhere else. Milliner never earned any starting job with the Jets. He was gifted the spot since the idiots in charge wasted a high first round pick on him. Sorry for hijacking your fine Jaguars thread but I just had to see if dbl would actually defend Milliner like I expected.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) After considering Denver, Calais Campbell is going to sign a 4-year, $60 million deal that includes $30M gtd with Jacksonville, per source
(@mike_e_kaye) Can confirm the #Jaguars have reached deals with AJ Bouye, Calais Campbell and Barry Church.
The Jags have broken me so bad that I can't even get excited about the draft. Any rumore on what direction we'll go?
I would have to imagine QB. No way they will pick up Bortles' option, especially with Coughlin in the house now.
I see it both ways. Bottles showed positive signs in 2015 but then fell off a cliff last year. I could see the staff thinking they have a better foundation to work with in Bottles. I can also see them just hitting the reset button.
I haven't really kept up with the offseason stuff either but I thought it was said when TC came in that he was not a fan of BB. I would think that he is going to have a lot of influence on this draft and if he likes one of the guys at the top we will pull the trigger on them. Then again they may not be in love with any of them.
I've said it plenty, but good QB's don't have the year bortles just did. He's never going to be the guy here. Fully on board with Watson.
I heard Hicken on the radio this morning. He was among Tom and the FO last night and he said the vibe he got was that they think Solomon Thomas will be picked at 4. I'm sure that is completely wrong.
Bortles is a top 15-17 QB at best. I'd rather take a chance on a guy who has a chance of being better than that.
I want Watson, but the only pick that will truly anger me is fournette. The argument for him is to make Blake better and simplify things, but blake's intermediate game is fucking abysmal. With the depth of the RB class this year, it's hard to envision a dumber pick. So, I'm preparing for that to be their guy.
I like Fournette as a player too but I would not have any sort of expectation for him with our dipshit offensive line. Last I heard our LT isn't even talking to the coaches
I'm not going to like that I'm saying it, but I'd rather have Cook later in the first round(some BS about him slipping to the second, but I don't see it happening) than LF in the top-5. Especially if it meant we could score more picks or somehow still get the guy we wanted.
I like Fournette as a player but you don't take a RB in the top 5 unless you have a line like Dallas. Give me Watson or Allen and I'll be happy.
Trading back and getting some more picks would be ideal. Hoping for Allen, would be ok with fournette and don't want Watson or Thomas at 4. Watson later would be ok
I'm fine with Fournette provided we go guard in second round. Ideally, we trade back but we've all been wishing that for years.
I'm hoping that the rumors regarding Watson are being used to encourage a team to trade up for our pick. That's prob wishful thinking though.
I just laughed at all the highlights of him running in space. Jags running backs haven't seen open field in this decade.
LF is an upgrade at the position but I just don't think we have the OL to make it worth using a top 5 pick. Our secondary would have been filthy with Adams.
Fuck coughlin and Caldwell. Caldwell should have been fired already and replacing ivory after a year should cement that. This franchise is complete garbage.
