Being QB1 vs a glorified back up will increase whatever draft stock he hopes to have.
You can still leave after enrolling in classes too. People do that shit all the time
He’s just got too much Bama in him.
I mean he is night and day with his passing ability from last year to this year under Enos as our qb coach. He has a better chance of continuing to grow as a qb under Enos compared to any other coach in the country.
To be fair, it's hard to beat grad school at Alabama
Does that matter, in terms of getting drafted, if he isn't able to showcase it? What's the absolute draft ceiling for a backup qb?
Wrong, Verduzco would work wonders with him.
But he wouldn’t want to be a backup here.
What? That sounds like an awful idea.
He needs to show leadership and provide lots of film beyond playing in a blow out.
Garbage time handoffs and holding a clipboard isn't going to get him a paycheck.
They dont call it the Harvard of the south for nothing
He has lots of tape. As much or more than any 1 year starter that gets drafted. I don’t think it HURTS his draft stock, but definitely doesn’t help it either.
Most of the tape is pre-improvement though right? His current tape is inferior to most of the tape he would otherwise have as a starter
Him applying for grad school means nothing. He gone.
Yeah this is meaningless non-news
You haven’t watch a ton of Bama this year, huh? He’s 50 for 67 with 8 passing TDs and 11.3 yards per attempt. Mac Jones is the guy who comes in to hand it off.
And leadership? The fuck are you talking about? The kid just orchestrated an improbable comeback in Alabama’s biggest game to date. He’s probably one of the most respected leaders on the team.
The dude has the draft stock of a rookie minicamp arm and coming out for 1 quarter of one game doesn't show them a whole lot of his ability to lead on the field in a lot of situations. Teams aren't drafting 2nd string QB's, even if the program is Alabama.
You know damn well that’s a misnomer. The kid was SEC OPY as a true freshman and scored the go ahead TD against Clemson with two minutes left. He got benched because he wasn’t a great passer in a game when a great passer was needed. He’s a much better passer now.
And realistically how many players could have beat out Tua in fall camp? That list can be counted on one hand. Bruh, you dumb as fuck.
I’d love to travel back to 2001 and hear lfriend’s thoughts on Brady-Bledsoe
If he wants to help his chances in the NFL he should go somewhere like Ok St or WVU where he'd throw it all over the field.
I’d like to see him at UF if they’re interested. He’d kill it in the Big XII, though.
Mullen would be perfect for him
Obviously that is an exceptional case, but lol at all the people thinking he is kissing his draft stock goodbye.
That's nice. But he's not an NFL qb
When does Bama start the new semester? If Bama wins tomorrow he prob is too late to enroll anywhere else next semester so he will leave after spring ball. Seems smart to stay in shape that way and get more free school.
I don’t think he’s a starter, but he’s probably got a shot a several seasons as a backup. I do think he’ll be drafted regardless of whether he stays or leaves. Most likely in the late rounds.
He’s a starter.
He's going to redshirt next year and be the starter in 2020 after Tua goes pro. Been saying it for months
“Hope they trade this Gehrig kid and give Wally Pipp his job back.” - lfriend, probably
why'd he do it?
If he does stay, I can only assume he realizes he's never going to play in the NFL so he's starting his masters and lining up a GA spot when he leaves. Saban loves the kid. I'd rather go somewhere else and play one more season as a starter but idk what's important to him.
Because he's still going to be in school/required to be in school to play football, right?
Why wouldn't he? Just gives him that option
sorry, i'm not used to playing in January.
option for grad school? yeah I agree, but it appears he was required to enroll back in school so he can play in next 2 games (which didn't cross my mind).
washington state is going to need a new qb next year
why wouldn't he just go pro if he was not going to transfer?
It’s either pro or transfer and he hasn’t made up his mind yet
He could always go pro in something other than sports.
Whatever Jalen decides, he's got a place in my heart and he's still holding UGA's
He would make a great pilot, which would really set him up well for the joke “what do you call a black pilot?”
I don’t know; what do you call a black pilot?
A pilot, you racist!
signing in and out of my 2 accounts is exhausting
I’m not a fan of racial humor.
