I thought that Pam (the intense dark-haired squash playing gal) was gonna knock Amy off but the champ was clutch in the last minute of Double.
It always amazes me how bad some of these very smart people are when it comes to wagering. On Monday, Hester in 2nd place of a runaway game had 8600 (if memory serves) going into final and bet 3400. In a tournament with wild card spots. She got it right, of course, and now has to wait to see if 12K is enough. I kind of hope it's not.
I appreciate Amy's skill, but I'm pretty tired of her. She's elite on the buzzer though. Do miss Matt though.
When Ricky Williams broke the NCAA rushing record, it was new. He broke a 22-year-old record. And then Ron Dayne came around and broke Ricky's record the next year. Not nearly the same.
long running champs are few and far between. Just because they happened to occur in the same season doesn't mean I won't appreciate watching it
Not this year they're not. This season has already blown up many of the show’s longstanding records. Three of this season’s players (Amodio, Fisher, and now Schneider) have joined the vaunted—and, at least until this season, ultra-exclusive—ranks of the “super-champs,” with double-digit victories; just nine other players have managed to reach that mark in the 19 seasons since the show lifted its five-day cap. Amodio’s 38 wins put him between Jennings and James Holzhauer (32) on the all-time list; Schneider could match Holzhauer if her streak continues through next Thursday’s game. Fisher, meanwhile, tied the streak length of Arthur Chu. To Jeopardy! diehards, names like Jennings, Holzhauer, and Chu carry something like mythical status. To have so many new entries to the pantheon in such a short period of time is positively dizzying. https://www.theringer.com/tv/2022/1/6/22869689/jeopardy-season-streaks-amy-schneider-matt-amodio Also, Amodio's streak was all the more impressive considering nobody put together streaks of any kind last season with all the changing hosts, and then he mowed through 6 or 7 different ones. Amodio was Babe Ruth knocking 59 home runs in 1921, when second place hit 24. Schneider is akin to Luis Gonzalez hitting 57 in 2001. Nevertheless, I'm already looking forward to their head-to-head in the next ToC.
Amy’s been struggling with final jeopardy. Thought the guy on tonight’s episode would give her a run for a minute but she had a really good game
Washington Post pushed the spoiler midway through the game as it was being broadcast in the DC Metro area. What an awesome reaction by Rhone though, so cool to see.
Amy on her run: https://www.jeopardy.com/jbuzz/contestants/amy-schneider-what-i-learned-my-jeopardy-experience "A few months ago, deep down, I simply did not believe that I could ever really be accepted for who I was. That is, I had come to believe (not without some difficulty) that at least some people accepted me: my family, my girlfriend, my inner circle of friends. But I always believed that most people would see me as trans people have so often been seen: a freak, a pervert, a man in a dress, a liar, mentally ill. And as the days counted down to my episodes airing, I braced myself for the rejection I was sure would come. And then… it just didn’t. Sure, there have been a few isolated voices trying to bring me down, but the overwhelming reaction has been of support and acceptance. People actually believe me when I say who I am. They don’t think there’s something wrong with me. And because of that, for maybe the first time in my life, I’m starting to think there really isn’t anything wrong with me either.” "I knew that I was taking on a burden of representation, and I will always and forever be proud to say that I’ve done my little part to ease the path for future generations of trans people to live free, open, and happy lives, and that feeling is worth more to me than any financial gain could ever be. But I’ll be keeping the million dollars."
One of the worst parts of twitter. I think every major event on jeopardy I’ve had spoiled through twitter
I'm sure you've already seen it somewhere else, but I immediately thought of Dean Pelton when Rhone showed up yesterday.
Every time a contestant starts their interaction during the interview portion with "Yeah, so..." I root against them.
what was the reaction. Just caught up and watched the ep and it cut out before even seeing Amy’s wager. Missed it all. Damnit
an old coworker of mine (quasi-friend) will be on jeopardy next week. Patrick, competing for Stafford County schools.
At this point, whoever doesn't start their reply in the interview portion with "Yeah, so" is rare and who I root for.
This might have been Mayims worst day yet. Like I understand wanting to try different things for the host but she’s seriously terrible.
She's awful and I don't actually like Jennings that much but if it's between those two then it's clear who it should be.
She's quirky, I'm not sick of her yet, but if she runs off 30 more games I probably will be. Her Trump hands are funny though.
