read the graphic novel tonight. You can definitely see the seeds that eventually grew into the show. i remember reading that killgrave didn't show up until late in the comic book series, but i kept getting further and further into the comics and he kept not showing up (for a second I thought I somehow had the wrong edition - even though it was obviously the omnibus edition). not a comic book guy (this was maybe the 4th or 5th comic book i ever read), but I did enjoy it. was weird having her interact with ant man, the avengers, etc etc.
Finished last night. I really liked it. More than DD. As someone who isnt super into comics but watches these type of shows, i really enjoyed it. Im not a comic reader and probably miss 99% of the easter eggs and most of the discussion itt goes over my head. What's this about her fighting evil Capt America? Is that the premise in S02, or just something that happens/ part of her storyline in the comics?
We are in the same boat, I like the shows and movies, but have zero knowledge of the comic book canon. I often look these characters/comics up on wikipedia which is an awesomely bad idea as it can result in hours of following links. that guy is a villain, although this version appears to be more 'realistic' and closer to say TDKR Bane as opposed to comic book Bane. I believe the comic book version has the American flag tattooed across his face.
this is what I do as well. I haven't picked up a comic book since I was 12, but I love the shows/movies and reading the wikis.
I'm only halfway through (ep 7 i think) so I'll avoid the spoilers, but from a purely "please sex me" aspect, I'm much more team Trish than team JJ.
Love Tennant. Watched him in Dr Who and Broadchurch first. When I saw he was the purple man in this I flipped.
Just finished episode 9 Spoiler The crux of Kilgrave releasing himself being the happenstance of a surge protector failing is some of the shittiest writing I've ever seen on TV
I didn't hate Simpson like so many apparently did...imo the worst part of the show was Kilgrave's death. I know he can't act rationally with JJ, but he spends the entire series being supremely cautious and he just walks right up to her at the end? Trish is standing right there...tell JJ to kill her to make sure she's under your control.
Anyone seen any of this second season yet? Not sure if I'll start it tonight, but I'll get to it at some point this weekend.
I'm 4 episodes in. First few episodes were really boring, IMO. Last couple have started to get some things going. Trish is not a bright character, and this Jeri story seems really out of place at this point. It's also weird to me that they talk so much about the first season, but haven't mentioned the stuff from the Defenders once. I'm assuming this takes place after that.
