I had high hopes for Leto, and still remain stubbornly optimistic if someone, anyone else, will take over the writing for the character. And I don’t mind a one-off character study of someone like the Joker(certainly a killing joke adaptation)...but with DC’s universe teetering on the brink of death, the timing of introducing an additional Joker story is quite poor. If it’s too good, movie goers say, “hey, why isn’t that the Joker they’re using”...if it’s an alternate universe that requires a PhD in comics to get, you lose mass appeal.
I honestly don’t think they’re worried about it pulling in 100 million opening weekend or anything like that (from what I’ve read of the separate universe endeavor anyway). If they can find a balance between comic book fun and quality filmmaking then they’ve achieved their goal. They should quit making anything in their current universe anyway (Wonder Woman sucked), nuke that shit and sacrifice Zack Snyder on live Television. DC doesn’t have the Jerry Bruckheimer appeal that Marvel does and never will. The universe works best with good ideas and fresh takes.
Snyder makes beautiful movies visually that all end up being a collection of cool scenes strung together by a fucking horrible plot. If WB would've ever recognized that and teamed him with a good writer we'd be in a better place right now
Joaquin Phoenix turned down being in the MCU and panicked after seeing the success of it and now joined the much shittier version
They need to set him up as an unreliable narrator. Like we see his dad beat him up only later to find out his dad had been gone for years etc
"Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another ... if I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!"
This falls perfectly in line with Nolan’s Joker, who explains how he got his scars no less than 3 different ways in the course of TDK. As simple as it is, a scene or line like this in the course of the movie frees up the movie to be absolutely anything it wants to be.
No current dolphins players played on the Dolphins two Super Bowl teams yet we can’t say the Dolphins haven’t won a Super Bowl.
I’m saying that no one can reasonably make the argument that DC/WB may turn it around because Christopher Nolan made a great movie 10 years ago that DC distributed.
I honestly didn’t think Wonder Woman was all that great, though I’m aware I’m in the minority with that take. Certainly better than anything Snyder has put out.
Aren’t all movie reviews opinions? Not sure why you’re taking this so personally. Even if WW was considered the greatest comic book movie of all time, it doesn’t undo the truly awful MoS, BvS, Suicide Squad, and Justice League. The same people responsible for those movies are still largely involved at WB.
Deadpool is awesome but it doesn’t take away the fact that FOX ruined two of the greatest comic book franchises of all time in FF and X-Men
One vs a big group of opinions aren’t created equal. You’ve typed more on the subject than I have. How am I taking it personally but you aren’t?
I don’t care if people like it or not. Just pointing out DC has made a good movie. I’m sorry if that upsets you.
Is this a live action The Killing Joke movie or something else? i don't really follow either the MCEU or DCEU and whatever else both do. TKJ is a really good story (though the animated movie was poor) though and so the idea that the Joker couldn't have an origin is dumb.
If? lmao. What more evidence would you need exactly? Anyway I'm sure everyone noticed this, but if you didn't, in addition to the joker, most of the extras are wearing clown masks. One holds a sign that says "Kill the Rich" in big letters. He along with other poors are assaulting a man in a suit as the joker exits the train and sheds his mask. Looks like the end of the second act.
I think he’s perfect for this role. He’s an outstanding actor and he’s always had this schizophrenic-like trait about him. I think it will mesh well in this movie.
