At the time of my post, he was was completing 53.5% of his passes and had 6 TD and 4 INT after 9 games. He sucked. He's been great since. Y'all are all welcome.
He completed 67% and had 10 TD and 1 INT in his 4 games after my post. Then 2019 happened. My post was clearly the turn for him. But seriously, whatever happened after that Alabama game, sheesh. He's been a completely different player since that game. I didn't realize he finished 2018 so strong. His overall numbers still sucked but he was a different player the last 4 games.
If Ohio State didn’t make the wrong decision on Burrow, Stetson Bennett likely doesn’t win back to back natties at UGA.
My post didn't day he couldn't. It just said that at that time, he sucked... bc he did. It's not like I'm saying he sucks now. He sucked after 9 games in 2018. He's been great since. You're welcome.
He threw for under 200 yards 7 times and 0 TDs 6 times while completing 57.8% of his passes on the year. He sucked.
That whole LSU team took a shift for the better after the 7OT game against Texas A&M They lost that and said they were never losing again
Or you could have just as many or more titles if you chose Fields my friends(I have like 5) have all made this bullshit point about how crazy it was to have Haskins over Burrow
All I'm saying is that as LSU fans, WE should be consulted on who is deemed to be a sucky QB. We are damn near subject matter experts.
How did I just get the notification for this post? Not that it matters but my personal thought is that Burrow is sexy
Not saying Zac Taylor is awesome but they were like half a second more protection from winning last year so they can certainly win one with Taylor
said it yesterday in the divisional thread, you can question some of his play calls but you absolutely shouldn’t question him as a head coach. The team loves him and he has the pulse to motivate, keep calm and confident as well as any coach in the league. It’s hard to get an entire team to be in lockstep but Cincy walks that line as good as anybody in the league. That’s a testament to Taylor.
When some one likes an old post that has your team tagged in it this micky mouse operation sends you a notification.
I think I've always been biased against him since he was a nepotism hire in Miami as his first coaching gig and I've always, probably unfairly, viewed him through that lens. But I think the time has come that I should certainly be open to the idea that he may be pretty good.
It's hard for me to root for nepo babies. I'll also be real. Joe is cool. But folks falling over themselves (Mostly LSU twitter) because Joe does one slow-motion video or wears tinted glasses sometimes makes it difficult to root for him at times. Many folks have been starving for a cool white quarterback to attach themselves to. The NYT article written about him before last year's SB is a perfect example of this:
Yeah, I shouldn't blame Joe, either. He'd probably tell these folks to get off his dick and go touch grass. But you can't have a sensible conversation about QB rankings with some of these folks. Also, that article is written by a Tulane grad makes me laugh a little. Zero self awareness whatsoever.
In fairness, the writer didn’t say that. It’s a quote from someone at whatever the Center for the Critical Study of Sport is.
i mean you're quoting academics who study these things it's always going to be a little out of the realm of what normal people think/act like when you do that
They could have just said that there aren't many white quaterbacks who could pull off Jamar Chase dressing them like a ken doll
Since we all agree that Joe Burrow’s performances continue to improve, it seems like the only real dispute is whether Burrow tops his outfit from last year’s AFC Championship game.
Burrow just has "it". They're winning it all this year, and probably several more times if he avoids injury.
Nepo in some areas. But the guy came into Nebraska, growing up an Oklahoma fanboy who went the route of JUCO, and made himself into something the Husker fanbase still loves in our last 20+ years of crap. Some things absolutely broke his way. But the dude was nails and no qb took more punishment at Nebraska and just kept getting up and dealing with shit without saying A WORD. Mentally we always knew he was something special. Even when he failed. He took it on himself and was beloved by the players. A natural born leader, like Burrow, but without the physical gifts. (Aka, a natural coach)
