I subscribe to Below the Belt because I like his breakdown and opinions on MMA/boxing, but he comes across this way a lot to me.... which you already know I feel this way.
I love TFAKT and BB. The dynamic between him and Callen works really well. BB it's just him. I like both. I've gotten to where I don't like him on anything else.
I've never listened to TFATK so I don't know, but my favorite Fight Companions are when it's Rogan, Callen, Schaub and Bravo.
sasso on this past weekend was the hardest i’ve laughed in a while that guy is so goddamn funny haven’t even given king and sting a chance because i know u won’t like it d’elia on santino’s was good too
These guys are killing it lately especially Theo. His podcast of recent is getting more views than TFTK now. He hired a marketing/producer who came from the Adam carolla show. He has taken theo's podcast and launched it. Theo gets solid guest now. The king and the sting is great. Some of the best tftk episodes were of just Brendon and Theo, and they made a sub podcast because of it. Just fun silly conversations, and when the two of them start ripping on each other, comedy gold. Andrew Santino is becoming on of my new favorites. Been on jre 4 times now, and fits in very well with all the other guys. Witty and funny.
I liked it more than I thought I would. I'm not the biggest fan of Killer Mike (I believe sometimes he panders too much). But overall it was a pretty cool discussion.
I haven't listened to him for a sustained time for a while this episode is the perfect example of why Joe gets absolutely shit on by people for giving his platform to these people
like this abortion section is all you need to show someone when people defend Joe (i stumbled on someone live streaming reaction to it is why I ended up watching)
The point is he's spreading destructive propaganda that impacts real people, he'll get millions of listens on something that spreads completely false information about abortion with zero substantive push back or evidence to support it.
They're now both discussing how the asian race is the most ruthless killers, genetically. Also sharing the Bell Curve intellectualized racism. I understand people think "everyone" understands Jones is crazy, or Joe sitting in silence or laundering it ever so slightly for his audience is fine. I get it's hard for people to understand that the Jones schtick is to grift, but it also does the task of right wing propagandists, to get these ideas into the mainstream to pick off the percentage who go "wow that makes sense" and start googling it. Tons of research on this, tons of literature from right wingers explicitly stating this is their tactic, etc.
Right. But giving a crazy person a platform is almost as bad. Joe's problem is it's really hard to figure out which people he has on are crazy and which aren't. Obviously Alex Jones is crazy but when he's treated the same as Neil Degrasse Tyson or other actual legit scientists or normal people it muddies everything so much.
Like, there's only so many times I can get hoodwinked into listening to a half hour of a podcast and then having some nut job start saying some crazy shit after being normal for a half hour before I'm like yeah fuck all that.
As a man married to an Asian, I feel as though I can speak to this. They are not wrong.(This is a joke) Joe will get millions of downloads. Crazy people are allowed to speak as well.
It’s why I don’t listen to Rogan anymore unless it’s a comedian, celebrity, etc. I’m especially not listening to JRE for anything educational. If people do, that’s on them.
See he has a bunch of legit people on. He had Brian Cox on not that long ago talking about particle physics. It was great. Then he has someone on that talks about how her whole family sleeps on the ground because beds are bad for you. Like, dude. You lose all credibility by giving so many crazy people a platform of millions of people.
When I saw Joe post on IG that he was having Jones on, I knew a shitstorm was going to come from it. I haven't listened yet, but Jones is an absolute lunatic, and I'm not exactly sure why Joe chose to have him on again. They may be friends of some sort that had a public falling out and recently made up, but having him on the show isn't worth it. As I've said on here in the past, I don't listen to JRE for political commentary. I listen to it to laugh or to hear cool ass people tell stories.
What credibility? He’s basically just a host. He has conversations with people of all walks. You’d think people would appreciate it more tbqh. He’s not out here pushing agendas or doing anything himself.
He can do with his show as he pleases. But if you let people spout off bullshit for 3 hours without challenging them on it like he regularly does it shows some sort of tacit approval or validation to their insanity. That's objectively bad for the world. Annnnnnnnd he shoehorns politics into every fucking podcast ever now especially about college campus or free speech censorship. Go fuck yourself with that Joe jesus christ. Then had a guy basically tell him no it's not that many campuses it happens on and they're just on the coast but then goes on to make it seem like some sort of epidemic.
He refers to himself as an idiot all the time. He's a great conversationalist who has super interesting people on, with the occasional lunatic mixed in. Should he mix in those political lunatics? Probably not, but his show is still awesome overall.
I'm a few episodes behind, but I listen to all of them for the most part. The last one I heard was the Donnell Rawlings one. Excited to get to the Grillo episode.
Ashy Larry is so fucking funny. When I saw Chappelle here in Jax two years ago, Donnelle opened for him. I’m telling you he was funnier than Chappelle. I listen to one a week maybe?
Donnell Rawlings was also with Red Grant on Something's Burning recently and it was amazing. Might be my favorite ep.
I could see that. I hope Joe legitimately talked him into starting his own podcast. I would subscribe immediately. I just listen to podcasts all day at work, so I end up hitting most of them. JRE, Your Mom's House, and Maron are my main three I listen to outside of sports stuff.
Joey Diaz is on Mike Tyson’s podcast today. It’s either going to be an all timer or fucking terrible.
I tried to get into Maron and couldn’t. I catch YMH when someone good is on it. Segura on Twitter with that naked old man has fucked my TL
Giving platforms to people who inspire harassment campaigns and oh the guy who just assassinated 5 women in a bank had two likes on his facebook, Milo and Alex Jones (anecdote there, but we do know with 100% certainty people on this spectrum are highly prone to violence and getting worse). Giving Joe a pass cause he's a comedian or "just a host" is really really lame. I used to listen to tons of his pods back in the day when it was 90% comedians and the occasional benign weirdo.
Ok. I’m lame. You stay mad. I’ll just choose not to listen. It’s entertainment, not my fucking presidential candidate.
Started listening to the most recent YMH and they have Burnt back on. The first thing he talks about is sharting the bed next to his wife whilst wearing no clothes.
And I feel like a lot of what he says is bullshit. I did see where the guy he went to prison for kidnapping attended one of his shows recently Pretty shitty of Rogan to have a former cocaine addict and felon on his podcast. Awful use of his platform.
Yep listened to it today. Bert can annoy me sometimes when he goes super high pitched for extended periods, but he was really good on that episode.
You do realize there's a difference in criticizing a comedian for being a comedian and a shit peddler for peddling shit.
Tried to get into his pod but he's not a spotlight guy. He needs to be the drunk friend because he's not smart enough to carry conversations with a lot of experts. That's why I liked Joe initially. He's a meathead but he can hold his own with smart people for the most part.
And I’m still TFATK4lyfe in case anyone was wondering. I kind of like Theo’s podcast too. He was supposed to have Dane Cook on this week.
