I can't imagine getting my covid information/facts from Joe Rogan or a guest on his show, but hey I know it happens.
its been that covid isn’t that bad, masks are infringement on his rights. And the worst of all he said if he was in his 20s or 30s, his key demographic, there is absolutely no way he’d get the vaccine because people that age aren’t affected by covid.
Well I disagree with all that. Wonder if he himself has had the vaccine. Still though, anyone that listens to him on this is as bad as the vaccines cause autism Jenny McCarthy moms.
Ironically, one of the best sources for covid early on was Joe's interview with Michael Osterholm. This was back in late-February/early-March 2020 and Michael was ringing the bell early that this was going to be a major issue in the U.S. Joe had the chance to be a force for good during the pandemic and he demonstrated it with that episode. But because he's such a reactionary, "question everything" moron at his core, he of course ended up going full-on conspiracy theorist instead. The sad part is that most of his listeners are also idiots and are just as impressionable as Joe is, so he does sway a lot of their opinions on this stuff.

I used to say this then I just quit listening because he gradually went from dumb mostly harmless guy to huge platform. Like 10 years ago it wasn’t as big of a deal to have quacks on for shits and giggles in between legit guests. Now it is and he hasn’t adjusted because he’s a stupid cocky meathead who obsesses about cancel culture because comedians are fucking snowflakes.
And his friends and other comedians won’t say shit about it because if they do his pod it’s great for their career. Listened to the liberal red neck pod quite a bit and they all basically said they’d love to do Rogan for their careers but that he sucks and is bad for the world. I listen to a ton of comedian pods and they’re the only people with the balls to say that.
How about yes I know he's a dipshit but I enjoy a select few of the podcasts and don't even click on the ones that I know I won't like / agree with. You guys do know that you don't have to listen to him, right? It's like you tune in just to validate your hate. We get it, he's a moron. And some bigger morons actually believe what he says. And it's a tragedy.
see, this is a defensible take, and similar to Bo Pelinis I used to listen a lot and through a confluence of life, shitty guests, and Joe being annihilated too much made me stop so there's some part of me that misses the old days

Who says we tune in? I’ve never once listened to him(just YouTube snippets). He seems to have great insight into certain things/great ability to connect, really needs to stfu about things he knows nothing about
Part that's sorta off about this is the supposed innocence. He's not a harmless moron that people hate for simply being a moron. It's not just "dumb" to tell millions of your devoted audience to not get a covid vaccine. Like, you realize there are probably already some very dumb but actual humans that are dead because of his bullshit, right? I didn't hate Rogan back when he was a harmless D+ comedian with a dumb podcast about asinine stuff. Misinformation is a massive problem in our society right now, and he's a huge source of it.
Just the clips is worse than a whole pod because it usually leaves out context that makes the clips better/worse

Not wrong as it shouldn’t be a defense at all. But he is really dumb. Like really really dumb if you listen to him for any length of time. Dumb guy at the gym dumb. Dumb high school acquaintance who never left your town on social media dumb.
I also don't understand how some of you think the whole "I only listen for the guests" thing is bogus. Rogan is basically programmed to say the same shit over and over. He provides little to no 'new' content on his own. The occasional interesting guest is the only thing that adds anything of substance.
His pod has had several different world renowned astrophysicists talking for 3 hours at a time mostly uninterrupted so for those sorts of guests it’s great. Problem is the next guest talks about never sleeping on beds or only eating meat so it becomes hard or next to impossible to differentiate between the two for the average joe listening to them. So then they’re treated the same by dumb people and that’s bad.
There's no nuanced, narrow way to respectably enjoy the JRE. So either don't, or do it anyway and don't worry about caring.
Rogan's anti-vax, COVID hoax bullshit has a pretty far reach. Have an acquaintance here who repeatedly brags about how he's trying to get through the pandemic without being tested or getting a vaccine. The guy is also super misogynistic, which I can only imagine is also at least slightly influenced by religiously listening to Rogan. Good news is, my Kiwi friend just roasts him about listening to Rogan every time we see each other. And the Kiwi is as close to an actual libertarian as I've ever met.
Even the smartest, most well-educated, most well-intentioned people are influenced by mis/disinformation if they continually subject themselves to it.
What seems to work best for me is to listen to the stuff I find interesting, and not listen to the stuff I find dumb or boring. I know it's crazy, but I'm into wild crazy ideas like that!
Listened to most of the Chef Goldblum episode yesterday hoping for a TMB mention. We did not receive one.

I haven't listened to Rogan in a good while, but as I recall, he said if he were young and healthily he wouldn't get vaccinated. BUT he said he himself got vaccinated. He also regularly, repeatedly says: I'm an idiot, don't listen to me, do your own research. He also, I think, changed his position on being young and healthy and not getting vaccinated, after it was explained to him that young, healthy people can spread the virus even if they are not symptomatic, and that becomes a problem for non-young, healthy people. He's said a lot of things. He's contradicted himself and changed his opinions and asked people not to listen to his opinions on things like medicine and science. By and large he's a peace and love hippie who does karate and hunts. He was a fucking BernieBro for chrissake. The people who hear him say "if I were young and healthy I wouldn't get vaccinated", but ignore the fact that Rogan himself is vaccinated, that he changed his stance and said everyone should be vaccinated, etc., I dunno what you do with those people. If they really were all up on his dick, they'd run out and get vaccinated when Rogan says to. But they don't. So there might be more to it than just religiously following what an MMA commentator says all of the time.
Quick google search didn't show that he's changed his stance but the latest thing is from May where he repeated that young people shouldn't get it.
I thought he did a 180, but he "clarifies" here. And he says, in this - I'm not anti-vax, I think the vaccinations are safe, my parents are vaccinated (but no one hears that, I guess?). And says if he were young he wouldn't get vaccinated, but the argument is that young people should get vaccinated for other people, so they don't spread it. And that's a different argument (than young people should get vaccinated for their own safety). "If someone said, yea, young healthy 21 year old people who eat well and exercise are not at high risk for coronovisus, BUT you should think about other people, I would say that's a different argument, and yes, that makes sense." And follow sit up with: "and again, I'm not a doctor, I'm a fucking moron, and a cage fighting commentator, who's a dirty standup comedian, who just told you, I'm drunk most of the time, and I do testosterone and smoke a lot of weed. I'm not a respected source of information, even for me" God love you if you follow that guys advice after that warning....
