Yeah that's from April where he again says he wouldn't get the vaccine if he were young. So he didn't really change his position
"If someone said, yea, young healthy 21 year old people who eat well and exercise are not at high risk for coronovisus, BUT you should think about other people, I would say that's a different argument, and yes, that makes sense."
Also if he himself says he's an idiot and not an expert, maybe don't give out medical advice to millions of people???
What he says isn't "medical advice" anymore than you telling him not to give medical advice is medical advice. He's talking about relevant current topics and giving his perspective and opinions (which he very clearly says isn't educated).
Maybe it’s because I live in Berkeley amongst actual peace and love hippies, but the thing that most defines a hippie to me is being non-combative. The first time I heard of Rogan was when he went after a UFC fan who admittedly tried to troll him on Twitter, and he got nasty and personal. Dude has a history of trolling groups and his brand has always been about being edgy. Hippies rarely get worked up about anything. Jmo.
yea that's fair. I think just being who he is he's had to deal with a lot of idiots who come up to him and want to fight or wrestle or just goof off, an he's pretty quick to shut that shit down. I've seen clips of a drunk guy trying to start something with him. His political philosophy is sort of all over the map, but he leans left on a lot of issues, like gay marriage, weed legalization, universal basic income, government regulation, etc.
and you don't see any distinction between Fauci, the lead national immunologist, the head of the NIH, and the chief medical advisor to the President, and Joe fucking Rogan? I'm not sure where I was losing my mind. I was asking for clarification on what Fauci said.
This tweet was posted on the homeboard, and there were a couple posters mocking the person who posted it. Said they need to do their research on this drug, and offered a couple of Rogan episodes that would be useful in their research.
Maybe the guy who says himself, that he is an idiot with no medical background should quit giving medical advice on his show
I think everyone is missing the point of his appeal. It’s not “good guests” but it’s the way in which guests are allowed to communicate. It’s much less performative than when famous people appear in other forms of media. Funny a few pages ago where someone said something along the lines of “he should push back more.” Why would he push back on dumb shit he believes? that said he’s dumb. I used to listen all the time when I was gaming. Nowadays I’ll click once a month or so if someone interests me but I don’t know if I’ve managed to keep it on for longer than 45 mins in several years. -Elk Meat -Bowhunting -Martial artists are humble -JFK assassination -Take vitamins -weed is good -comedian’s words don’t matter subjects that need to be discussed with every astrophysicist, athlete, actor, etc for nearly 10 years.
I know processed sugar is bad for me but sometimes I grab a pack of reeses Pb cups in the check out line.
"I only listen when it's good information." -regular Joe Rogan listeners, who definitely know when it's good information.
The morning after he’s elected president NYT will have interviews all over the country with incels in twitch rooms where they let us know “we know he’s a reactionary but he tells it like it is”.
My favorite thing about Rogan listeners who think they can discern good information from bad information is that they've usually proven themselves to be exactly incapable of discerning good information from bad and actually are more likely to question good information while instantly accepting bad information.
Maron on Two Bears One Cave with some expert roasts of Rogan and Austin. "its like human centipede out there, Elon Musk, Joe Rogan and three middle acts" "i think your different, your own guy, you werent one of the guys who rented out space in Joe's Ass" "People say look at that Maron is bitter, why wouldn't i be, 100 million dollars for saying i dont know man, O wow Rogan is pushing back!" "Austin is like the hipster alamo" "lets be honest its 4 stores, a lot of meat, and a lot of musicians who failed elsewhere" "People always forget to finish the sentence, Im moving to Austin..... Texas, its still Texas." "What about Rogan world, the comedy club, the supplement counter, and training camp?" "I thought it was an amazing amount of movement, just so Rogan could have his own booth"
I don't ever watch Rogan's shit but the dumbass youtube algorithm has recommended a video with fucktard Jimmy Dore discussing vaccine side effects like 3 times. I'm guessing wannabe tough guy Rogan for some reason doesn't call Jimmy a pussy and say he just needs to man up or something?
If someone starts to listen to a podcast/interview/etc thinking that it's going to be entertaining, do you think it's possible for them to click on the 'stop' button or exit out of it if they start to not agree with what's being said? Or once the 'play' button is pushed, is it a balls-to-the-wall gonna listen and chisel everything this expert says as fact into this here stone tablet thing? I mean, the last episode of Rogan's I listened to completely was his show with Jesse Griffiths. I'm not a wild boar expert, but I found him to be very entertaining. Was everything he said 100% correct? Shit I don't know...guess I hope so for his sake. And the whole 'good' vs 'bad' information. For fucks sake fellas. We're talking about a comedic podcast...there's a whole shitpocket of the internet filled with podcasts that are full of drivel and are pretty much worthless. Are certain topics more important to be accurate on than others? For sure. And for those topics I'm not searching out comedy podcasts to form my viewpoints and opinions on them. But I understand that's a crazy way to go about life.
I had a neighbor come up to me and tell me, after stating that he is of course apolitical, that he learned about the Wuhan Lab Leak via Joe Rogan and thinks we need to get to the bottom of it. To say he’s simply a comedic podcast at this point is ignorant as fuck.
I'm listening to it now. I'll summarize for your enjoyment There is a problem with anecdotal evidence, particularly from doctors who say "I've used this on my patients and it works". We need large scale studies to verify what works and what doesn't, and not just one doctor who treated 20 people's word on things. But huge studies need to be funded, and pharmaceutical companies are less likely or willing to fund a study of a 40 year old drug that's available as a generic, like Ivermectin. Dore says there is a problem with people not being allowed to discuss or question things. He said he trusted his doctor, and got vaccinated. He experienced some significant side effects from the Moderna vaccine. The first shot he had mild stuff for a few days, then the second shot he had ongoing symptoms similar to long hauler type stuff. He said he had body aches, exhaustion, stiff neck, felt like crap, etc. that never went away for months. He went on twitter and described his symptoms, to see if others were experiencing anything similar. He had more than a few people attack him for being anti-vax, spreading false info, etc. Dore's position is, when we are taking an experimental vaccine that's not FDA approved, we should not suppress the information about reactions, we should share the experience and solve some problems and make the vaccines better. They get into the "misinformation" thing, and how Jen Psaki said the vaccine was FDA approved, when it's not. And what repercussions are there for her/the white house spreading that kind of misinformation? Dore said lots of people contacted him saying they had similar experiences with the vaccine, including a doctor who is leading a group of doctors studying this, who summitted a paper on it recently. Dore went to his doctor, explained the symptoms, to which his doctor said he is currently treating 5 other people who have similar experiences, one is a nurse, and one is a neurosurgeon. And they are afraid to talk about their symptoms because they were afraid of being stigmatized. How messed up it is that medicine is so politicized that actual doctors are afraid to talk about their symptoms and reactions. And it oddly puts Big Pharma in the position of being the "good guy". The same companies that people were openly critical of, showing huge lawsuits for hiding info in test results and in studies, are now ignoring that and defending the pharma companies to the hilt. And that suppression of data is not how you help this, it's not how you make vaccines better and safer, quite the opposite in fact. There is so much knee-jerk reaction to just be anti-Trump, that if Trump said it or supports it, it must be untrue, that facts or data are irrelevant. And how Trump did so much damage with his dumb "kill it with bleach", and "kill it with light" press conference, that when he said "what about hydroxychloroquine?", that immediately was grouped into he same category as "kill it with bleach", when in fact there were legit studies showing hydroxychloroquine was effective. Joe says finally that everyone is at 8, right out of the gate. Like if you got in a fight with your neighbor, then you get in your car and you are you are road raging, yelling at everyone. It's like Trump provided that fight with your neighbor, and now on every subject, weather it's vaccines or kids in cages or whatever, we are all right at our boiling point. Add into that the economic crisis, and the legit issues of dealing with covid, losing loved ones, and chaos, and people who have lived a pretty soft life and never faced adversity or took any big risks, are now you are confronted with all of this....people don't have the coping skills and it's a mess. Add to that the echo chamber of social media, and everyone seeking positive reinforcement of their own ideas, and confirmation bias, and here we are.
Are we saying that if Rogan talked about he lab leak theory that it can' be true or plausible? The problem with Rogan (and Trump and any rando on social media) ids that they are not 100% right or 100% wrong. They definitely say some crazy ass shit. But they are also right sometimes. Dismissing what they say simply because they said it is a huge mistake. Factually speaking, Rogan was talking about the lab leak well before it became a plausible, accepted theory. Does that mean Rogan is right about everything he says? fuck no. But he "beat" 60 minutes to the story. And it's still not totally accepted I don't think. Because people like Rogan and Trump were talking about it, people just do not want to believe it. It's a real issue when we need to roundly categorize everything certain people talk about as wrong despite evidence and valid data. It's very lazy and.....well, anti-science.
I enjoy a few episodes still, used to like it when it first started and was more about just drugs and having comedians on. However, Joe knows exactly what he is doing and he does it for clicks. Don’t let the I’m just a comedian and an idiot thing fool you. He plays a narrative and runs with it and it’s probably monetarily driven.
I’m saying people shouldn’t go to him for this sort of information and it’s irresponsible for him to talk about it in the first place, even if he’s JUST ASKING THE TOUGH QUESTIONS on his “comedy podcast”.
If we are limiting discussions of topics to people who are experts on that topic, we are going to have to censor a lot of fucking people. Like most of the internet. I also think there is a difference between "going to him for this information" and hearing him riff about it while you are listening to a random one of his podcasts.
There is a responsibility that comes with an audience of his size that he is incapable of living up to, clearly. He’s a town kook that 50 million people tune into.
A comedian/conspiracy theorist talking about hearsay from unnamed doctors has negative credibility. Tons of smoking hot girls, who go to another school, said I'm the best looking dude in the world but you'll never hear from them because they're afraid to come out
So completely change what he did to garner 50 million fans and hundreds of millions of dollars? Sounds reasonable.
Why can't people just say "yeah he says problematic shit but I still like the podcast" instead of acting like someone's attacking a member of your family.
If it’s shrinking subsidize it If it’s growing too fast tax it If it keeps growing regulate it -Ronald Reagan
Dipshits always exist but this is the same defense of every crazy person saying crazy shit with huge platforms. You can't willfully ignore that they do active harm because there's a lot more dipshits than you'd think.
The guy does harm. A percentage of dipshits listen to him and take his word as gospel. I don't really give a fuck. Every morning, I look over a list of podcasts and see if any of them have new episodes that might be interesting to me. Rogan's podcast is in that group. Doesn't get a lot of play...and I rarely ever get more than halfway through an episode...but it's an option to listen to during my commute. I don't take much of anything he says as being serious, but sure some people do. Fuck them and fuck the people who just fling a 'bad' blanket around anything that they don't agree 100% with.
this is all a defensible standpoint but when people come in here to complain about some guest who is laundering idiocy (like Dore), getting bent out of shape about it is the ??? part that leads to these tangents
Who's getting bent out shape about known shitheads spewing idiocy? I'm assuming it's not me since I don't listen to those *known* episodes, but hell who knows I can be a shithead. To me, it's the "oh Joe Rogan is a dipshit and anyone who listens to anything he or any of his guests ever say is a racist plandemic scumfuck" that's annoying as shit.
you've done soft joe defense for two pages and then edited this post to admit you get mad at the stereotyping of roganistas so what are we doing here, you get mad people generalize rogan simps because lots of us interact with an unfortunate amount of people who parrot his talking points or those of idiot guests he has on there, but then say you aren't one of those types and actually don't listen to much. ok cool that's great, but then why are you thinking you're one of the people being referenced here?
saying you aren't really a big listener but also getting mad at generalizations about devout listeners is hard to square!
