I was glad that they killed that dog early I didn't know they had a dog and if they made us love that dog I would probably cry
Song from the club scene^ So well used, especially when he stabs the guy in the throat and slides him down the wall.
As I said before we lost the old thread, I would be totally on board with a prequel revolving around that "impossible job." I normally detest prequels, but that sounds like a great follow up film. We would get to see John still at the top of his game (characters said several times in John Wick that was a step slower than he used to be due to rust), and it allows for flushing out the world of assassins (i.e. the hotel) while John was still active in that lifestyle. Plus it allows for some of the great characters who died in the first film to come back.
The Russian dialogue was like really bad though. Guess it doesn't matter to most people, but it was annoying. You would think they could find a Russian to proof read the script. Russian mafia/underworld Has a lot of unique slang they could have used, not to mention proper sentences. The "bayou bayoishki"/bogeyman song that the boss sang a was cool scene. That is a real nursery rhyme.
Just started on HBO Zone. I've probably watched it 3 or 4 times either on my dvr or just catching it coming on in the past 3 weeks.
The club scene is just so well done. But the scene when he kills those guys that come to his house is underrated.
It's hard to pick a favorite scene/moment for me... Certainly it's perfect when Perkins has her membership revoked, but for me it goes back to the beginning of the club scene in the VIP room... The stab, stare, and gentle slide down the wall with the subtle "I am your light, your light, your liiiiihhhhhhiiiiight" That's when I knew I was in love with this movie.
Sheeeit when he performed that roll over the guy in his house and blasted the next guy. I was like holy shit, its on.
I knew I was watching a completely different action film than the usual at the phone call scene. You expect Liguazamo's character to be shaking in fear because he struck the son of the most powerful mobster in the city, but, instead, that mobster basically pisses down his leg at the mention of John Wick's name. None of the usual tropse of the criminals thinking they are better than the main character. Everyone is absolutely terrified of the guy from jump street. That was a hell of a lot of fun to watch.
New Story Details About "John Wick 2" email to a friend By Garth FranklinMonday October 5th 2015 12:25PM One of last year's more refreshing cult films was "John Wick," a throwback revenge action film starring Keanu Reeves that featured impressive fighting, a rapid pace and a wickedly dark sense of humor. With a sequel firmly in the works, Reeves recently spoke with Colliderabout how writer Drew Kolstad and director Chad Stahelski are progressing in their assembly of the sequel: “I think we have a really good premise, and it's an organic premise. It's basically - to me there's John Wick and then there's John. You know, John is the married guy whose wife just died, and that five years of his life. Then there's John Wick, who's the mythical assassin. In this, John Wick's past comes and infiltrates John's life and John Wick, in a way, has to fight for John." Not treading over the same ground is a big draw for Reeves to do the sequel as he doesn't want to hit the same emotional beats, and he promises that there'll be more world building: "Why tell the story? Why do we need to do this again? How do we do that without doing another dog? So we speak about John Wick, the next chapter, and what is that emotional hook? What is that? So I think we have a good idea of that. Chad and the writer, Derek Kolstad, they've really listened to what people have enjoyed about the work and how they speak about it. So there's definitely that influence of the other world, the Continental world, the look, the feel, what it is about the movie, what made people like it; is definitely being paid attention to and the world opens up in this chapter." Reeves has been in training for sometime now ahead of a shoot kicking off later this month. Talking about the fight scenes, he says he's been learning up on more gun-fu techniques - a combination of jujitsu and judo mixed with varying styles of weapons tranining. The additional action is "all organic. It's not like all of a sudden John Wick has superpowers, it's got to be connected to the character." As for the potential future of the franchise, don't expect too many more installments: "I'm interested in what happens to the guy and in this world. So when we were speaking about it, obviously it did well enough for the investors to want to do another one, which is cool, and it's great to have the opportunity to further the story. But we had to come up with a reason why, and we came up with a reason that was good enough, that didn't suck, and we're just trying to make it better and better. In terms of a franchise, I don't know, until you do it and it's done, you don't know, because it's not source material, this is original goodness." Should it follow the pattern, "John Wick 2" will hit cinemas next Fall.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/keanu-reeves-john-wick-2-834725#oo The Continental, the hotel for assassins, will be open for business in Lionsgate’s John Wick 2. Ian McShane is set to reprise his role as Winston, the owner of the boutique hotel that caters to hit-person community with its discretion, on-call doctors and no-killing rule. The hotel and its steely-eyed owner, who lethally enforces the rules, proved popular with geek audiences. Keanu Reeves is back as Wick, the hitman who in the first movie was brought back from retirement when his dog, a gift from his recently deceased wife, was killed by lowlifes — he went on a vengeance-fueled journey back to his old employer. Common just joined the sequel as one of the chief antagonists. Chad Stahelski is directing the movie, which will shoot in New York and Italy. Basil Iwanyk is producing. McShane appeared on the most recent season of Showtime’s Ray Donovan and recently wrapped shooting season six of Game of Thrones. He also stars in Dr. Thorne, a period drama from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and ITV that will air in 2016.
Wick's wife is in the second movie again. Hoping that gives credence to the idea of a prequel. So glad McShane is back as well. Such a badass scene
Underrated aspect of this movie: The soundtrack was fantastic. Club scene, perkins death, and a minute in here are all great
Bump. The Film Stage@TheFilmStage 'John Wick: Chapter Two' has been set for a February 10th, 2017 release.
on Cinemax. There's not many movies that I like falling asleep to. Have to be familiar enough with it to not feel bad about missing some of it, but like it enough to want to watch it. Spaceballs, Ocean's 11, John Wick. That's my list. Love this movie.
Really hoping they are able to do something worth a shit in these sequels and hope it doesn't just shit the bed like the taken sequels
There's certainly more ways they can go than Taken. It felt as though they only began to scratch the service of the assassin underworld, so hopefully there is a lot more room to develop and explore the world. Wouldn't mind them toning down the action sequences and going more story driven... A lot of times, they try to outdo the action and it falls flat on story... Something I think The Matrix Reloaded suffered from for example even though I love that movie.
If it was done by HBO, Netflix, Start, or Showtime. Would be a horrible show if put on something like CBS or WB.
Not really too concerned with plot lines and side characters. As long as the action scenes are like the original I will watch it multiple times.
