have we discussed the fact that Key and Peele's upcoming film that looks kind of hilarious (and I'm not a big fan of much of their work) is a fairly obvious nod to Wick, and titled "Keanu"?
In their Reddit AMA they said they had already written the script for Keanu when John Wick had come out and that they called their agent thinking that it had somehow gotten leaked and someone was using their material. It ended up being two individual projects and nothing was leaked or copied which I think makes it even more hilarious. Will see it and John Wick 2.
In the first one they went from buying the script, to casting Keanu 6 months later, to being done shooting 6 months after that. They had plenty of time for #2 I think.
wow didn't' realize that timeline on the first one. Your right especially since they have the proven formula and Keanu on board immediately. anything leak on the story yet?
Who is actually pretty good person as well. Read a bunch of stuff he does for charities and whatnot. He'll just buy food and go eat with homeless people.
My wife and I were eating at a Thai restaurant on the UES in NYC years ago...a pretty random restaurant that has since gone out of business. Typical NY style two person tables and lo and behold, sitting next table over was was Keanu, eating alone. We gave each other the head nod acknowledgement and had our respective dinners. He briefly interrupted us to ask my wife what her dinner choice was and said, thanks, it looked really good. Our bill never came, he simply paid it.
Isn't it rumored he gave millions of his paycheck for one of the Matrix movies (or all of them?) to the SFX guys because he said they were the main reason the movies worked, not him?
I've heard he significantly reduced his contract so SFX guys got a much bigger cut. And have also heard that of what he was actually paid, he donated a ton of it to leukemia research hospitals due to his sister's fight with Leukemia
Believe he took a cut so the movie could have a bigger all around budget. The SFX guys deny it went directly to them, of course maybe he just doesn't want anyone knowing that.
He's the type of guy who has done a lot more than what's reported on the internet. And he just does them and doesn't want recognition for it. Keanu needs to be in everything and regardless of his film career, would be amazing to get him on a quality limited TV series
"Do you want a war, or do you want to just give me a gun?" tells me this movie is going to follow in its predecessor's footsteps of knowing exactly what kind of movie it's supposed to be. Excellent.
