Seeing it at 5 pm today, just noticed that it's nearly 3 hours long when deciding on which show to go to
Seeing Sunday late afternoon. Going to a dine In theater. They have some decent bourbon so I’ll probably have a couple. My middle daughter bought the tickets so we’re buying the food.
That was fun (and didn’t feel like almost 3 hours). Think I may even see it again this weekend in fact
We went there to see the new Top Gun. Sat at the top of the upper deck and had pretty much the entire section to ourselves.
agreed. although I will say between the runtime and the goddamn 25 minutes of previews just uh, plan ahead.
yeah if there was any complaint it was that they could have shaved the edges on some of the fight sequences down. we started to notice move patterns and some of the seams in the choreography where it was kind of clunky because we had a Phd in fight choreography.
Spoiler I wish this whole series found Keanu about ten years earlier than it did, this series had a fifth film in it where he could have brought down the High Table but hell, the dude is 58 now it would have started traipsing into Indiana Jones territory eventually. also, the overhead sequence was fucking incredible. I love that this series embraced the shotgun as a CQB weapon so well and I also appreciate that Wick mostly strayed from rifles for the majority of the series, the closeness of 95% of the combat in all the films made everything so much more real than seeing him plink dudes from 80m with a rifle.
Spoiler Caine is back in that park where he was watching his daughter earlier in the movie. He is walking towards his daughter who is playing the violin to bring her some flowers. As he's walking towards her through a crowd we see that he is being approached by the Osaka concierge with her hood pulled up. She pulls out a blade as she gets close to him and then it ends. I don't know if it means she is involved in one of the spin-offs they're doing or whatever. Edit. Found one I can embed.
That was fucking awesome. Spoiler - R.I.P. Lance Reddick's Charon. Hit harder because of his untimely passing in real life. - The whole of the Osaka scene, the chef's kiss. My favorite part was Akira killing that man as he kept climbing the stairs. - Seems kind of poetic that John wins his freedom and dies right afterward. - With that after-credit scene, bring on the spin-off with Akira CONS - I’m in agreement that you could’ve shaved down for time (namely half the Paris fight scenes. Seriously, did we really need a 2nd scene of him fighting his way BACK UP THEM DAMN STAIRS? They could've just cut the first stair scene.)
Spoiler Awesome. Will probably watch the first three it's been a while, and go see this again. Loved the overhead view of battle before duel felt like a video game.
Amazing. Too many elite sequences to even know where to start. Awesome stunt work and amazingly lit/colored.
Just got out of it. Loved it. The Osaka scene was just amazing. Spoiler giving Wick a semi automatic shotgun with Dragonfire rounds was a famn cheat code and I loved every bit of it.
Best of the series and my lord that Osaka scene, one of the greatest action sequences ever Spoiler Loved the top down scene, reminded me a lot of Hotline Miami, great game if you have not gotten a chance to play it check it out
Just got back. Watched the first 3 the last couple days leading up to this and I know a lot don’t like 2 and 3 but I am in the minority because I honestly love every single one of these films. I assume we are still doing spoilers. I don’t want to give anything away. Spoiler okay so I am kinda depressed. In the way that you’d be after losing a good friend of 10 years. I’ve given 10 years of my life to this series and if that’s it I’m sad. But, that’s about as perfect as an ending as you could give him. I am on the fence because of a couple things . 1. Dawgs reaction at the headstone and 2 them saying there would be a 5. So we will have to see. I am left with a few questions. 1. Who the fuck was Mr Nobody. Was he related to Sofia? 2. Is Winston Johnathan’s dad? 3. Is he really dead? 4. in three they implied that the Elder was higher than the table. In this one it seems like he isn’t
I have to watch it again with the understanding that it’s the Spoiler more than likely the last movie in the series. I just read that lionsgate originally was going to do 4 and 5 at the same time but ultimately decided to just do 4 and see how it went. So I need to enjoy understanding it’s the end and he is dead.
Spoiler 1) Another killer. They specifically named him as a tracker, much like Caine (I believe by the end of his career this is what Caine functioned as rather than a random assassin like most). I found him a bit superfluous since the entirety of the planet was tracking down John because the bounty was so high but I think he was included to keep growing the world. Also possibly included just for future spin-off purposes. He exists in the world now but he isn't a huge movie star so getting him to make an appearance will be feasible. 2) No. I kind of get where you're coming from with this but no. Wick was an orphan from Belarus. 3) Yes and I hope so. You either have to make Wick a god for the purposes of the universe they're operating in or you keep him mortal and if he dies, he dies. I think conceivably the only thing else they could do would be a prequel about how he met Helen and how he got out the first time which, all things considered, I'm shocked they didn't do. 4) It seems like by default the Elder leads the Table, they imbue him with power but also likely reserve the ability to remove it if necessary. When they Marquis took over the hunt for Wick, they essentially did something similar, he had essentially unlimited power provided he stayed within the rules. The mythos isn't that fleshed out, I wouldn't sweat the details.
Spoiler I got the vibe that Tracker worked for Caine and then the Marquis hired him away but I’m often wrong about these things
Spoiler we would all love it if the series could just keep going. but Keanu probably can't keep making these. He can do prequel cameos and stuff, but just doesn't seem feasible to ask him at his age to do this. And it was a great 4 movies and shouldn't be ruined by stretching it out or doing some John Wick prequel where they de-age him. If they make other movies in this universe, I will see them and hope they are good. but we got some good stuff, can't complain about them finishing John's story when Keanu is pushing 60
Spoiler only thing I “disagree” about is 3. Dawg’s reaction at the cemetery reminded me of how he reacted when John fell off the roof. Like he could sense John was around. That could easily explain him still being alive. I just have no idea why he’d need to come back. He was an orphan but it doesn’t mean he wasn’t abandoned or that Winston abandoned him and his mom when he was a kid. The “son” and the tattoos that reminded of Wick’s seemed to point to Winston being John’s dad.
No need for spoilers now. I think we're all at the Marvel thing for movie threads where spoilers end the first Monday
Good choice for "dine in;" 50 Shades is more "eat out" Yeah I know the original comment is six years old, but it's a great joke and I just watched the John Wick movies for the first time so get over it
Just got back Fuck that was fun top down shootout sequence is my favorite movie action sequence I’ve ever seen
Took my dad and 2 boys to see the movie, was excellent. Unreal action scenes. I’m on team there still might be another sequel.
They’ve already said there is more from the John Wick universe coming, but I think he’s dead. First project is a show with Ana De Armas I think .
My brother and I saw it this weekend. It was a touch long for me but overall very entertaining. Side note - we saw it at the theaters Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma, Silent Bob) owns in NJ and after the movie he hung out for an hour and a half with like 30 people to talk about the movie, production and share some stories. Was a really cool experience.
