God damn this movie is getting 10/10s and 0/10s
There's no in between
In the theater now
Will do. RT has it at 98% audience score so I’m excited.
Looks like a Wes Anderson ripoff
Wes Anderson is a Taika Waititi ripoff
Well that was just fucking enjoyable
had every emotion in it possible
ScarJo and Sam Rockwell were just wonderful
Taika was hilarious
his soundtracks are so underrated
the two kids had a Simon Pegg/Nick Frost type of chemistry
Very funny and also just a good movie. If you like the trailer then you will like the movie. Plus Sam Rockwell as always is the man.
Will be in my top 15 maybe 10 for the year.
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Taika is hysterical as Hitler, and the chubby best friend is great as well.
will be seeing this week
what else do you have planned this week
i have big plans for getting a library card
The 'turn' in this movie was sad as shit.
Is my 12yo daughter going to find this pretty sad? We were all going to go Sunday. It looked funny...
Going to see this tomorrow morning
looking forward to it
There is a Wes Anderson vibe but much more dim. It’s doesn’t scream out that it is trying to be folksy and cute.
I liked Jojo Rabbit a lot. The people that find it offensive, want to be offended IMO.
Saw it tonight and really liked it. First and some of second act dragged a bit but that last half or so was tremendous.
Thomasin McKenzie as Elsa stole the movie. She’s going to be a star.
Thought she could have been nominated for awards for this and Leave No Trace in 2018.
loved this movie. ScarJo and Rockwell were both great as was the girl who played Elsa.
my only complaint would be I could have used some more Yorki.
I agree with the Wes Anderson part. Usually, those films lose me. This didn’t. The kid who played Jojo was so endearing. Just a really good movie.
Watched last night. What an enjoyable movie
If you guys like this movie, but also haven't seen Hunt for the Wilderpeople do yourselves a favor and go watch it. It's the same director, made in a similar style, and completely delightful.
Still chuckle at these 2 scenes:
Spoiler: Spoiler for offtopic -- no spoilers in videos
Just watched. I love this movie.
Just watched this finally. Love how it balances both the horror of war and hatred with the absolute ridiculousness of them as well. Sam Rockwell and Alfie Allen were hilarious
Worth a watch
Okay, well, this butterfly scene can just go fuck itself
I just watched yesterday. I adored this move. Taika is so fucking good at making/writing movies with heart.
Watched on flight, all the emotions
Need to finish the last 20 minutes because I got almost all of it down in an ATL-JAX flight
I really want to see this movie. Is it streaming anywhere yet? Last I saw I could buy it on Amazon, but I'm not looking to pay that much. Rental would be fine though.
I watched on Amazon yesterday. Rental was $5.99
Saw it two weeks ago and thought it was incredible. Read nothing about it and it was not what I expected right off the bat with the Hitler parody stuff. But it was extremely well done.
Nice! Yeah, last time I checked was Oscar weekend and it was purchase only. I'll give it a go sometime this week.
The thing that’s really amazing about it is that it’s Taika’s worst film, and it’s great.
(admittedly, I haven’t seen his second film, Boy)
I need to watch Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
Yes, you do. It’s his best, imo
jojo rabbit is much better than boy imo
as a big Taika fan and person that normally enjoys movies like this, I didn't enjoy this at all. by far his worse film. wasn't offended by the subject matter, but it was just so one note and really lacked the usual cleverness of his movies
Finally caught it
Enjoyed it as much as any film this year.
That shoe scene - ugh
Rewatched this the other night, still really enjoyed it. The part at the beginning, right after Hitler gets Jojo all hyped up to start his day and he's running down the street "heil Hitlering" everyone he sees and is "heiling" with both arms, is so damn funny and slayed me even more on rewatch.
Finally finished the last 20 minutes Sunday night. Loved the whole damn thing.
Gonna watch it again this weekend with the wife.
My only knock is the pace of the 2nd act. Bit too slow/repetitive between the two, other than that I loved it
finally watched it
absolutely great movie
why did Sam Rockwell's character like JoJo and his mom? He obviously new that wasn't his sister and it was the jew JoJo was talking about
also, as bad as it is, the jews sleeping like bats slayed me for some reason
Steven Merchant's insect body in an SS uniform was unsettling
