i'm sure there 1,000 of these but i dont care to bump them so First off, to compare it to LOST is stupid b/c they are both a different kind of show so I wont say which one I think is better Season 5 was weak for me, for some reason it just didnt get me involved as much as the others Omar being got like that kinda sucked but I get it Barksdale>>>>>>>>Marlo for some reasons I just didnt get the same feeling from Marlo Felt terrible for Duke, I wanted that kid to succeed so badly and felt bad when he got picked on for smelling and what not Fucking Prez with that awful bear Looking back, Season 2 seems really out of place but I guess they had to get the Greek/connect in there ranking the seasons is tough to do but: S1, S4, S2, S3, S5
Worst part of the series was how Omar got got, but it had to be done that way. Wire is the best series of TV ever
would have been sweet if he didnt get got that way and then shot Marlo with the shotty when Marlo is on that corner
i just found myself not giving a shit about marlo and string was my fav character, while avon was like number 3 behind mcnutty
Avon was the man. Marlo was part of the new breed. Dude was cold blooded, but he had this old school calm and discipline about him that was pretty cool. Loved Stringer. His rise and fall was swift yet fascinating. Ironic how in the end Marlo had everything String could ever want and ended up walking away. It shows the contrast in motivation. String came in the game for money, Marlo came in for respect and power. Avon and Marlo are a lot more similar than people think.
when string got that shotty in the chest shit was crazy nothing was :ohholyfuck: like Omar getting shot in the store though
next up on my list are Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny, & Parks n Rec (which i heard got good once they focused on Aziz's character)
you seen Dexter? I just finished s1 this weekend, and it's amazing. Just started watching AD, and Gob is such a great character
first off, really didn't like season 5. never felt good about that "serial killer" angle they were running with. just seemed too out there and didn't engage me as much as the others so season 5 was clearly my least favorite. season 4 i thought was the best as for your new shows, you really haven't seen AD yet? damn. and i have just started catching episodes of parks every now and then and that show is hilarious. gonna dl some more when i get a chance
the show had to have a marlo though. avon was weak and someone had to be the next guy. the only thing i didnt like about it was how marlo went from a few profitable corners to punking out all the other bosses who were organized, it just didnt seem likely
i had a thread about it a week ago when i was running through the show and didnt know how string's location got sold out and the thread said avon but i dont remember the scene
idk how i missed AD & i've seen a few eps of park n rec and stopped but then people said it started getting a lot better i've seen a random ep of Sunny here and there and just figured I should watch them all
i know avon gave up stringer to omar and brother mouzone, but i don't think he knew that stringer was about to snitch to the police. if avon was as real as marlo he would have just had stringer killed himself
didn't bowtie go to avon and explain the shit that went down while avon was on the inside (stringer going against avon, the whole co-op thing) and avon gave up stringer?
Definitely do this, best comedy on tv right now. Also I didn't like Marlo at all compared to Avon and String, I felt like I grew as stringer and avon did and marlo just kinda got thrown in our laps
yeah i agree with you but i liked marlo i just didnt like how they progressed his power so fast. chris was one bad mother fucker though
Marlo was so much better than Avon in the long run that it wasn't even close for me. Marlo was so cold-blooded about everything, he just made Avon look like a huge bitch. Liked Stringer alot as well, of course Omar was the best though. Omar>Marlo>Bunk>Stringer>Prop Joe>McNulty>Bodie as far as my fave characters.
Marlo didn't have a code. I don't think Avon ever bitched out on something because he was afraid, but he respected the game and the people. I don't value Marlo's ability to just knock off whoever for whatever. Thats why I loved Omar so much. He followed a strict moral code, and wouldn't break it, dude didn't even curse. Avon had that too. Gave his actions a little more substance in my mind. As opposed to Marlo who just ran around and did whatever. Omar>String>Bodie>Joe>Jay
Same here. I hated Bodie in the beginning but towards the end I liked him and his death got me worse than anyone on the show. Michael K. Williams who played Omar said he cried watching Bodie's death on The Wire during a Sept. 18, 2008 interview.
Avon >>>>> Marlo Like others have said, Avon set himself apart by having a code. He had reasons for his actions. Take Cutty for instance. Cutty said he wanted out. Not only does Avon shake his hand and let him walk away, but also gave him the $ to open up a boxing gym to improve the community. If Cutty had tried that with Marlo, he'd have gotten 2 shots to the head and locked up in a vacant.
yep, Avon had no idea that Stringer had snitched on him. he was more concerned about losing his connect to NY (which is what Brother tells him will happen if he doesn't give up Stringer). in the end, Stringer and Avon had weaknesses that lead to there downfalls and the downfalls of each other. and people thinking that Avon/Stringer wouldn't just off just about anybody are forgetting the security lady, the working man (kill a witness after a trial and he's a tax-payer...cold-blooded, even if he did snitch), Wallace, and D. they may have had a code, but it wasn't like they didn't do some messed up stuff too (I count them as one person because up until season 2, they pretty much were, with only the minor disagreement of what to do with Omar in which Avon finally came around to Stringer's line of thinking).
For the talks on the death & incarceration of stringer & avon. Bowtie went to Avon in the barbershop and said he got wrong info from stringer and that since he was in jail stringer spoke for him. Avon decided to give up Stringer there. The next scene Stringer had a meeting with with Bunny Colvin in the graveyard to give up Avon The final scene of both them together on the rooftops, Avon asked Stringer where he would be the next day. Stringer said he would be at the building site at noon. Then when they raided Barksdale place. McNulty showed Avon the warrant and it had Stringers name as the CI
I have been watching all the seasons for the first time over the summer. Just made it to Season 5 (I'm about 3 episodes deep). I can already tell that Season 5 is really going to disappoint me. Not liking the way the story is shaping up at all. Season 4 was incredible though. Loved every second.
I'll 3rd that. I also didn't like Bodie when I first started watching the show but somehow he grew on me. I was pissed when that went down.
I agree with this. Hated it the 1st time. Im watching it for like 3rd/4th time right now and Im liking it more and more
I'm in the minority because I am a big fan of Marlo. He grew on me as the series went on and the "my name is my name" scene sealed him as one of my favorites.
yep, one of the best scenes in the entire show. really showed (along with the street corner scene) who he was.
Marlo is a bitch. Prop Joe is in the middle of a war with Omar and knows Marlo is up to something fishy and he doesn't have any muscle or backup at his house? highly unlikely that's the case
Wallace's death affected me less than any of the main characters. Don't know why, but Bodie's, Stringer's, and Omar's were worse for me.
