Re: Avon and Stringer Avon gave up String because Mouzone told him he'd lose his connect to NY if he didn't, which at the time meant Avon would always be relying on Prop Joe to get high quality dope. Plus there was a good chance Mouzone would get to Stringer anyway. Of course Avon didn't know Omar was in on it too. It was the only move Avon could make that wouldn't kill his business because refusing Mouzone may have meant not only losing the NY connect but also pissing them off and making enemies. At the end of the day Stringer brought it upon himself by trying to get Brother popped by Omar. Re: Avon and Marlo Marlo is Avon without a Stringer to keep him in line. Stringer was cold but he was also smart. Remember what Avon said to D 'if we do something, we had a reason for it'. Marlo just did dirt because he got off on it. Stuff like killing the security guard, the delivery lady, Lil Kevin, and the one dude's baby mom and body guards were just blood thirsty unnecessary killings that did nothing for his actual business. He killed people because he could. Avon killed when he felt he had to for the most part and Stringer made sure their focus was on the money and not the power. When the money started to get big enough that Stringer could see his dreams of turning legit become a reality, that's when the 2 started butting heads. Marlo just had Chris and Snoop there as yes men that didn't question him. Bodie was a great character. Started off as just a young punk but then you got to see what he really dealt with and how by choosing that life, he really got denied a lot of other choices. He had no choice but to cap Wallace or else he may have been got himself and Wallace was still going to be a target. Then he matured (for a drug dealer) as the series went along. Also Wallace's death was the toughest death scene I can remember in a TV show. I also love how they used that to show how self absorbed McNulty was when Bunk and Daniels were actually shook up about Wallace dying and McNulty only cared that it hurt his case on Stringer.
^^^ bringing knowledge on The Wire as usual. great point about the Wallace death and McNulty. one of the biggest times in Season 1 when they show that the "good guy" is not necessarily a good guy.
the final montage while mcnulty is looking at the city made the finale better but there were a few times i thought it was going to end and be pissed there wasnt more closure but it ended fine for me
season 5 was such a piece of shit compared to other seasons, i could barely watch it. the whole mcnulty messing with crime scenes was so unbelievable it made me sick
Marlo was my favorite character. Bodie's death was the toughest for me. I loved the way Omar got took.
