Just started reading book one, and I'm just trying to slog through the (very enjoyable) first 100 pages, where I'm being introduced to all of the characters/families/houses/etc. I'm assuming things are going to become significantly easier as I go along, but is there a website or something that folks recommend that would hep me get my bearings a little faster, or should I just keep pushing on? That said, very awesome so far.
just google the character's name and it will bring you to a page on this http://awoiaf.westeros.org/ but you have to be super careful because there are spoilers on every character's page. each character's page is divided into their progress in the books. just make sure you dont scroll down past whatever book you are on.
also, your favorite character dies...but not after they are raped and humiliated in front of your very face.
Thank you sirs. I used the wiki to re-read the synopses of each chapter, and I basically just clicked each persons name and read the first line about them in their bio (which usually says their title, house, family lineage). Read no further. Quite helpful.
http://towerofthehand.com/ lets you set the scope of the site for yourself to avoid spoilers. I think the default is no books read so that would be you, then you can set it to one book read after you finish so on and so forth
came to post this. Make sure you select the option for none though. Really helped me keep track of the random minor characters that would pop in or out when I couldn't remember things about them
Only gets better. I'm really anxious to read AFFC but I am so busy this semester I might have to put it off until the summer.
I'm taking 18 hours, doing an internship plus working another job. I'm sure I'm not as busy as someone who has kids but I don't feel like dedicating myself to AFFC until the semester is over and I have more time to get into all of the new characters.
I have a question for those of you who have finished the books, or at least read more than I have (I'm on chapter 17 of ASOS). I'll put it in spoilers, as I suppose the question could be a little bit of a spoiler for people still reading AGOT.. Spoiler My question is, does the book ever tell what happened to Benjen Stark, or does he reappear in the books at all? You don't have to say which, a simple yes or no would suffice.
What do you mean? Are you saying that there are many other cliffhangers, or are you saying that I'm wrong to think it's annoying? There can't be any cliffhangers drawn out as long as the one I asked about.
Spoiler Still, there can't be anything worse than leaving a cliffhanger from early in the first book unanswered through the fifth book, can there?
Spoiler people who had to wait eleven years between ASOS and ADWD to find out what happened to certain characters had to be the worst thing ever. especially with a book in between.
That's fine. Even though people would have to read my initial spoilered post and not have read your response for it to actually have needed to be spoilered.
