Finally read Raylan it’s the whole show in one book lol. I’m going to say it but Raylan’s love interest in this show is not believable. She isn’t nearly up to his standards. This might be the weakest of any season.
All in all, I enjoyed it, but my stance on continuations like this is that I’m generally happy spending a little more time with some beloved characters. My biggest critique is that they sidelined Raylan (which of course served the story they were trying to tell) but all the other characters were well drawn. Holbrook crushed it as did Vondie.
It wasn’t as good as the original. I’d watch another season. I’d like a more unleashed Raylan. I’m sorry but I don’t buy the love interest. I need more of Boyd’s lady friend. She seemed smart and there was something I liked about her.
I haven’t read any of the books but Raylan isn’t in this one so they just had to write him into the actual main character’s role which isn’t the Raylan we all know. Think that’s where the disconnect is.
Would have been great to see a Boyd-Clement scene somehow in prison but I understand that the showdown duel was necessary. Clement turning into an Anton Chigurh juggernaut after getting out of the hideout was just a tad bit unrealistic.
The show is based on Fire in the Hole and City Primeval. Raylan is in Fire in the Hole but not City. Unfortunately, Justified used Raylan up. The whole series was based on the one novel.
there are 4 novels but Raylan is really the only one used as source material. Every character in the series is a part of the novel. Spoiler the characters are extremely different in the book. Raylan and Boyd don’t dig coal together. They aren’t that close. Boyd dies in Fire in the Hole. There are too many differences to write but that is the biggest one imo.
Boyd was originally supposed to die in the pilot, right? Then they got Goggins, saw what they had and went with it? Or maybe I'm remembering it incorrectly.
that is what I’ve always read. I forget if it was the pilot or first season. I just remember it was supposed to be early in the series. In Raylan, Boyd isn’t really that compelling of a character.
Give me a season of Raylan chasing Boyd to Mexico then Boyd getting there and setting up shop and Raylan having to go rogue to get him.
I was enjoying the show some what until Raylan started hooking up with the lawyer. Just absurd to think he would be attracted to her.
Been binging Damages lately and Olyphant stars in Season 2. He tells a guy “next time it won’t be a conversation” but doesn’t throw a bullet at him unfortunately.
Clown Baby rec on that show for a married couple with kids with limited time and lots of other shows on list ?
Just finished up. Thought it was slow and they neutered Raylan too much. Thought the ending was solid. Loved having Boyd back for just a little. His lady friend had some nice cans.
Sorry didn’t see this until just now. I think it’s a worthwhile thriller and my wife really enjoys it too. I’ll recommend.
My wife looked at me after the Bills game ended and said “I’m ready for a rewatch of Justified” I love her so much
Justified is an all-timer because of all the great stuff with Boyd and the Bennetts and Duffy/Dewey but I do love the first season where it’s procedural where Raylan takes down a new baddy each week
Obvious from the posting history but that's what the wife and I are on RN. Season one of Justified and season 5 of 30 rock
