I am here for 6 months on a consulting engagement. Staying at the Sheraton on the Plaza (nice but old). Doing all the BBQ stuff, been really fun so far.
Um, so, the kid at Schlitterbahn was decapitated. In front of his mom and sister. That's one of the worst things I've ever heard about.
Have talked to some people who went to the Chiefs preseason game last weekend. Sounded as fucking awful re: tailgating as I feared. No room. Power mad dudes zooming around on golf carts making sure people stay inside the new yellow lines. Way to go, Chiefs. Hope that extra money you make on people buying food from Aramark concessions instead of bringing their own is worth further killing your fan experience.
That sounds awful. Did they also go through with the rule that there can't be any outside catering unless it's done by Aramark or Hy-Vee so no Jack stack or whoever you would want for a large group?
So apparently they don't mind if people are in chairs sitting past the line, it's tents and stuff of that sort that take more time to move. Read that the parking lot security will be told to tone it back. Who knows, all seems really stupid, just so they can make a few extra hundred dollars
They should tackle actual problems, like the awful system for leaving after games. The exit game is bad.
The few games I've attended I've taken shuttles so haven't had to deal w/ the clusterfuck after games. Plan to tailgate at least once this season so that should be fun
Mark Donovan doesn't know how to scale back being a fun-killing asshole. Tons of people standing/sitting around their car were told to get inside the yellow lines, and the go-kart kops wouldn't leave until they did. We'll see if they actually tone it down.
Going to the Chiefs game tomorrow and expecting to die of hypothermia. Also, any of you good folks know of a decent record store to recommend in the area?
First off: bring some cardboard to stand on. Second: josey records in the crossroads district is awesome as fuck, as well as mills record co in Westport
hello - I'm in KC today/tonight for an interview tomorrow morning and would love some dining suggestions. I'm staying just north of power and light and would be cool walking somewhere.
what you looking for? columbus park would be up your alley, but it's a bit too far for your location. antons is really nice and would be an easy walk nara for sushi the belfry for good beer/whiskey and pub food the phoenix for dinner and live jazz this is just off the top of my head, but i can get more specific
i'm at the holiday inn aladdin if that helps. would it be weird if i went to any of those places by myself? looking for something casual that I can sit alone and have a beer and some food
nara and anton's would be perfect for that. both have bars that you can chill and drink at while eating (and they are across the street from each other). probably about a 10 minute walk from the aladdin to there. i'd probably go antons just because their bar is that good. if you're looking for something a little closer, you can always go to flying saucer as well.
Your pretty close to yard house if you are mainly looking to walk. It's Casual, tons of beer options.
Food wise antons is better. It is a bit pricey though if you not looking to spend much, but if you don't mind and are looking for the better meal than do that.
If you're considering going to Yardhouse, step 1 is "Don't go to Yardhouse." Step 2 is "Go to BRGR instead." hth
It's more upscale than what you're looking for but it's pretty amazing and I've put my penis inside the sous chef on many occasions (but who hasn't).
you can't tell me this now I've already had a $6 cup of guacamole and ordered my food what kind of man are you
FIFY you rube. For real though Rieger and Anton's were two of my favorite places to eat when I lived there.
