If you’re on the plaza Minsky’s is just south. Johnny Jo’s is just west (NY Style). Pizza 51 is by UMKC, all close.

I ran into a coworker outside of o'dowds and she described her dinner as orgasmic so I just assumed she wanted to hook up. I followed them into their uber and went back to her air bnb with her friend. She's older than me and didn't realize she was divorced and had five kids, so I took off. ended up getting minsky's in leawood. its not bad. I probably would have liked johnny jo's.
Counterpoint. About a decade back I wandered aimlessly from Westport to the Plaza on St Pats and found myself coming to consciousness over a plate of Bangers @ O’Dowds at some point that night.

I know I will get shit for this but I don't care for Minsky's anymore. Would rather eat a Casey's pizza at this point. Still love Waldo Pizza
Fair. Probably didn't help that I had to take it home because the lobby was closed, but the last few pizza's I ordered were dry and sad.
Minsky's is fairly hit or miss. At it's best I haven't found anything better here. The last one I got was really good so it's a gamble. There's also a location like 5 min from my house so its a no brainer over dominos or Pizza Butt
never got the minskys hype tbh but the drive from waldo down wornall to the south plaza location is my favorite drive in the city
We always used to go out in Waldo, the Mrs Bartended at Lews so it was free booze and apps till closing time. There was a place called Taco Factory that we f’n loved. Only open for like 6 months. Closed every weekend there. She had a work party at Tanners and I DD’d one night. Got pulled over switching from Wornall to Brookside BLVD. The cop was cool, said “hey, it’s 2AM, you rolled through that light coming from Waldo, your car smells of greasy tacos and booze, I gotta take you in.” I asked him to breathalyzer me first, blew a 0, he laughed and said “thanks for being the only actual DD I pull over tonight.”
I'm guessing it's that with 5 kids if she gets pregnant, she stays pregnant. That or hot dog down a hallway.

I'm glad I found kindred spirits who think Minsky's is meh at best. Glory Days out of Topeka just opened up in Shawnee and I think that's probably my favorite pizza in town now. KC kinda sucks for pizza.
