Yeah it makes no sense at all to have them together on a ballot initiative if they are separate. This has long been my pipe dream for a location for Kauffman: https://maps.app.goo.gl/HGeuZNDcPn9AMmFG8 Put that bitch on both sides of state line, have 4 counties in 2 states fund it, can see the downtown skyline, have a quick bridge to SW Boulevard and build a small bar/office district on the bluff there. Arrowhead I have a gut feeling is a foregone conclusion to Kansas at some point.
It was so shit. Really wish they could repurpose Kauffman for Chiefs purposes. Imagine that as a pre/postgame spot for food/drinks. Redzone up on crown vision
I still feel that when the dust settles the Royals will be somewhere downtown and the Chiefs will stay at the sports complex. Maybe that's just wishful thinking. I get that feelings are pretty raw right now, but the organizations really fucked this up. The blame doesn't lie with the Jackson Co voters, as some owners' wives seem to believe.
The more I think about it the more it seems as if the chiefs getting involved at all was the biggest mistake, that and letting Frank white speak in public
Yeah, her (Sherman’s wife) post was a head scratcher. From all the stories out there it’s been Mr Sherman’s dream to bring downtown baseball to KC. I really hope they can figure that out. IMO tell Mayor Q and the city to screw off and just use the East Village location (even though i like the crossroads site better). I don’t have any nostalgia with Arrowhead so if Gov Kelly wants to throw a billion at the Hunts to build a superstadium that will host SBs and Final Fours more power to her.
What was the post? I get the Crossroads tenants concerns even though I think they are dumb. But the "muh parking" crowd can go kick fucking rocks for contributing to screwing this up.
https://www.kmbc.com/article/wife-of-kansas-city-royals-owner-reacts-to-election-results/60401075 "Unfortunately neither team will work with Jackson County again," she said in a comment on a public Facebook post. "They had been working behind the scenes for two years attempting to get a location approved. Which was I think Frank White’s plan all along. In any case most unfortunate for sports fans in KC. The lack of leadership has lost the city two treasured assets. I mean if you don’t support the Chiefs after 3 Super Bowl wins why would they stay? We will be lucky if both teams wind up in Kansas. At least still in the area!”
We were down at the crossroads tying the pop ups and every business owner we talked to said they really haven't even been there that long, a flower shop was around for a couple of decades but most of those businesses don't really have any leverage as far as long standing tenants
I don't think they cared either way. Like if it passed hey great more money for me and we keep the tradition of Arrowhead. If it fails, KS will trip over their own dicks to get the Chiefs over. After the last few years, I think I could be in favor of a new stadium for them. Roof it and make it easier to get in/out. Royals should go with the East Village site. Keep the tax rate as-is and use what would have been the Chiefs portion to improve public transportation and them parking garages that the suburbs are jacking off over.
FWIW I don’t believe this for a second. Coyotes’ owner has a history of pretty sketchy business practices and their attempts at finding a permanent home (they don’t have one right now; they basically rent ASU’s 5k seat college arena) has been a clown show for years. They’ve missed multiple deadlines to have a plan for an arena in place, and The NHL and NHLPA are breathing down their neck telling them to get something figured out before they force the owner to sell.
I’m in town for a work conference and have decided to walk 8 minutes from my hotel to Peanut on Main for some wings.
this is gonna get so stupid and end up with one (or both) states making total fools of themselves by giving away some obscene new record amount of money
Agree - gonna be a dick measuring contest to see which state can make the biggest offer that completely screws over their state's residents for years to come. I think billionaires should build their own fucking stadiums
Do the chiefs have a casino or Sportsbook partner? Got to think if they do make that move they’ll build a big ass casino next to it.
What’s the chain building a big ass one in Independence again? Always thought it was stupid they were building this huge gas station but it was like 5K sq ft smaller than the largest Buc-ees.
Lost a tree and some fence last night. That was wild. The whole house shook. you can’t tell me there wasn’t a tornado or microburst or something.
We had 70mph winds in Bonner. Also fucking moving out of there, it's going to be p and l before too long with all the bullshit coming at the same time (I wanted country ish living)
