I don't understand how it's difficult for some to look at modern rap and ignore that album's influence. Regardless of your feelings on it, it's definitely created a sub genre. So you probably hate most of the current genre And I know Nelson and Houndster aren't deep into finding people in the genre as much as cal who has put me on to a ton of great music over the years
I loved 808s and Heartbreak personally. This meltdown has been long overdue frankly. FML on Pablo would be enough to get him off on a murder charge. It sucks that he's married into an absolutely insane family, because since his mom died I don't think he has ever been surrounded by anyone that could be considered a good influence. Wish him all the best
Album is fine, I fucking love this song ... I love synthpop, tho, can see how it would be tough to swallow for hardcore rap fans.
I find the influence he had on hip hop with CD and LR a much more desirable impact. He mad it cool to be vulnerable and even a bit nerdy in a culture that desperately needed that kind of influence. An influence that's still strong today. I think 3k really started the movement but yeezy blew it out the water. If we're gonna blame 808s on the state of rap today I find that more of an indictment than anything Also T-Pain
Seriously try to listen and with a straight face say that it didn't define music for the following near decade
808's and Barry Bonds are the only Ye I skip every time. Underrated ye 1. get em high 2. late 3. primetime 4. family business 5. good morning
Two most listened to songs are Blood on the Leaves and Homecoming. Homecoming is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard and, IMO, his best.
while i don't think they've been an overall positive influence on him, in my opinion as a lifelong fan, i think his current situation like this was unavoidable after the death of his mother. i don't think his wife or her family have anything to do with his breakdown. jmo
When you consider the horrible impact they've had on the people in their lives, I can't imagine their impact has been positive. But, of course, he has had issues dating at least back to his mother's death and if he has a mental illness, then it's something he has always struggled with. All I know is that he writes and delivers incredible music and no one deserves to be unhappy with everything he has built for himself in life, so I hope there's a path he can follow to happiness and health.
Listening to the back half of MBDTF now. So fucking good. Over the last few years, runaway and lost in the world have become some of my all time favorites.
Everything about MBDTF was peek Kanye as an artist for me including the 35 min film for runaway. Like someone posted earlier it was his Jordan moment imo
People laugh at me but if composers like Beethoven had access to the technology that guys like Ye do they'd be making similar stuff. He's a legit genius. Nuttier than squirrel shit, but a genius.
solid take (also, this website launched yesterday and should end up being great—started by Josh Topolsky, formerly of the Verge, Engadget, and Vox) https://theoutline.com/post/313/kanye-west-is-a-human-being?utm_source=FB
evidently Kim is planning to divorce him when the time is right. big shock!!! hopefully good music flows from it if he can get his life back together.
Fuck Kanye. He's been on some faggot shit since 08 bonarroo. Had the crowd chanting Kanye Worst at the end of his show then.... Glad I've been off this faggots nonsense since then. The kardashians are bad people and have taken this dude waaaay off the deep end. Good. Fuck Kanye.
