My kids' new pastime is watching movies from the 80's so they can make fun of them. This thread will chronicle their journey. We've already watched a bunch...I'll recap the last 3-4 movies they've seen and in the future have them give me actual reviews that I will post.
The Last Starfighter (1984) Kids thought the premise was kinda cool what with using the video game as a recruiting tool. Thought the aliens were corny looking. They thought Beta Alex was the best part. Didn't think the special effects held up too well
Gremlins (1984) Meatball has a thing for puppets so he absolutely loved this flick. Kendall immediately punched through the no eating after midnight plot hole (Dad? are these things time zone specific b/c it's always after midnight somewhere). They loved the mischief and didn't think they were evil...just funny green puppets
Krull (1983) Kids had a fucking field day with this one. Made fun of the costumes, the effects, the montages, everything. They shat all over the cyclops because there are some scenes its obvious the actor couldn't see what he was doing behind that mask.
Innerspace (1987) Watched this last night. Both really enjoyed it and didn't really make fun it except for one part I'll bring up in a second. They thought the premise was cool (They haven't seen Fantastic Voyage). Kendall got a little triggered that Jack was wearing his Safeway nametag for the first third of the movie. They immediately recognized The Cowboy as the guy who played the Doctor on ST Voyager. Meatball turned to me and said "I want to make fun of this but it's really good" and then this happened They thought this whole sequence was hilariously bad and they laughed their asses off during this whole part of the movie
You should definitely setup a webcam behind them so we can see the movie and hear their commentary Celemo
they've already seen a lot but the short list as of now is Teen Wolf Flight of the Navigator then in some order The Beastmaster Swamp Thing Short Circuit Megaforce
came out in the 90's but they've seen it. Meatball will drop a "The dishes are done, man" every now and then when he unloads the dishwasher
I'm not sure if they've seen that one. I'll have to ask them. Their motivation behind all of this is to make fun of the stuff I grew up on.
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure Stand by Me Who Framed Roger Rabbit Beetlejuice Big Cant Buy Me Love
Celemo can a rabid follower and long time fan of this thread get the “Watches” changed to “Watch” in the thread title please? I’ll hang up and take your answer on the air. Much love.
Toxic Avenger age inappropriate for them? Would be a great one. also why not Rad? Should have been one of the first ones
