if you think about it it's not that big of a stretch. shit i gave you 3 of the top 4 right here in the legit contenders section. if yo box these and just wheeled every other horse in the race, there you go.

i'm sure some here even liked shackledford

i hit the exacta in the giacomo derby for 9800 dollars (pure luck, though i had the correct strategy, i just boxed all the horses i knew would be coming late as i knew it was going to be a hot pace) . i though all derbies would be that easy :(

was about to order a brinks truck to unload on quality i road 2 years ago lol. god i was going to empty the bank account on him, i didn't think he could lose.

I didn't bet (couldn't get to a track, and don't like to bet online), but I felt the same way about Friesan Fire. I didn't know that he wasn't 100% until he started running. The only other horse I liked in that field was Summer Bird (because of the way he was running at the end of the Arkansas Derby), but thought he needed one more start. Ended up paying off for me in the Belmont.

i am curious, i 'm always trying to learn... what made you include shakleford?

I don't play exotics, but if i did, i would have hit the exacts, but that's it because i would have tossed shakleford. i did not envision them running this slow

I didn't include Shackleford, but from many reports, his training was among the best (if not the best) at Churchill.

honestly i can't blame you. I mean hell come on. You also have to put the rac einto context of who was still around. Premier peagus, the factor, we had some good performances, and what they did wasn't matching up.

I know, just thought that was funny, especially because I ended up coming around on both Animal Kingdom and Nehro (and MMM, to a lesser extent). At that time, Uncle Mo was still seen as the top threat, Sway Away who we both liked, then the upcoming Florida Derby had Soldat, Dialed In, To Honor And Serve, and Stay Thirsty (who knew that Shackleford would end up finishing the highest in the Derby going into the FD). Never thought I would even consider any of the horses in the Louisiana or Spiral in the exotics, much less make them the focus of my bets.

OK...so, don't hate on me for being a bit clueless about this, but I was at the derby yesterday. I'm pretty sure the $60 bet I made while I was blacked out won. I was so fucked up I bet on race 7 instead of 11, but does anybody know how I collect my winnings? I had to drive back to Chicago today and Churchill Downs' main number said they were closed until Thursday? Can I just mail the ticket to them (their website seemed to imply that I could) or do I have to drive down?

Yes, I live in Chicago. Thanks for the tip on Arlington. I'd kinda thought that in the back of my head but wasn't sure if that was something you could do. Arlington is pretty easy to get to (depending on traffic).

No clue why I picked that horse. I went to the derby with 11 of my friends (we rented a house a few blocks away). We got up at 6am to start drinking and were all shitfaced before we even left the house at 9. Only one of us was there by the time the 11th race actually happened. Had an awesome time though.

I had no idea I'd even won until I was going to pay for food at Sonic today just before I left and found the bet slip in my pocket. I almost threw it away.

If I bet $60 what is the payout? It says $34.20 for a win on the Churchill downs website. That's based on a $2 bet?

I can't cash this at Arlington :tebow:

    From the Arlington website....

Can I Cash Tickets I Bought at Churchill Downs on the Kentucky Derby at Arlington Park
Even though Arlington Park shares common ownership with Churchill Downs, Calder Racecourse, and Fair Grounds Race Track, tickets must always be cashed in the state in which they were issued. We cannot cash tickets purchased at Churchill Downs at Arlington, or anywhere in the State of Illinois. These tickets must be mailed to the racetrack that issued them.

So... I checked my updated threads, and saw this one. reading it, I remembered I had put some money on a couple horses to win a while back based on what I read here. $100 each as I was way up playing blackjack on bodog and had cash to burn. so I checked and heres what I saw:

    Midnight Interlude $100 16/1 to win...Loss
Flashpoint $100 33/1 to win... Loss
Sway Away $100 20/1 to win... Loss

    aaaaaand.....

    Animal Kingdom $100 33/1.... :cheesy:

    for a payout of....

    $3300.00

So thank you toussaud :beerchug: I owe ya

actually i was up like 50 bucks for the weekend, but that's basically breaking even for me.

nigga i be schooling these girls lol. when i met her she couldnl't make a wager now she's boxing superfectas and hitting]

ps - NEVER BOX A SUPERFECTA BET. IN FACT NEVER BOX ANYTHING PERIOD, THAT'S A SUCKER BET. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A STRONG ENOUGH OPINION ABOUT A WAGER AS TO WHAT HORSE IS GOING TO WIN, DON'T PLAY.

she should have played RR and wheeled the other horses under if anything.l
