Is it something we should be concerned with? Keto is not a high protein diet and I assumed cutting out all the sugar would be healthy for the kidneys.
You can have onions, just not a lot. I had 3 burger patties with grilled onions and melted pepper jack for dinner last night.
The cheddar could have anywhere from 0 to 3 carbs and the jalapeño might have one per serving. The deer and pork should be zero.
The only issues I know of with sausage is that you could take in too much protein and throw your macros off.
Got the piss strips and kind of cool to measure. I’ll probably get the blood thing soon. It’s a good reinforcement. I’m satiated as well which I thought was going to be a struggle. Been on shit before where I was starving.
You really dont need to test. Its pretty simple. Do you get hungry? If yes, no ketosis. If no, ketosis.
Week 2 of non-keto IF. Finally am not starving in the late morning before lunch. Said fuck it Saturday and had a bloody mary to start the day then drank and ate all day but otherwise holding to it. I was eating as much as 300-500 calories or more before lunch depending on breakfast and snack. I basically now eat lunch around 12:00 or 12:30 then stop eating around 7:00-8:00. Coffee and water whenever. Feeling pretty good. Now that I am getting used to it I feel like on a normal day I have to eat a lot of food between 5:00-8:00 to go over 1800-2000 calories a day which is what I'm shooting for. I was already only buying fruits, veggies, cheese, meats, and minimal whole grains. Have no clue if the fast period itself accomplishes anything but think it will help with calorie control. Think shifting those calories to after work/dinner help from going over. It's much easier to abstain in the morning. Should be able to stick with it with the occasional drunken feast.
this is what i did. i have never in my life been a breakfast guy so that was easy to eliminate. during the week, i will just skip lunch and have whatever i want for dinner. don't really ever get hungry during the day. usually end up eating lunch on weekends. dropped around 55 pounds in 4 months doing that. i enjoy not having to monitor what i am eating for multiple meals and having the calories to "splurge" with on dinner
besides calorie restriction/following a plan, autogaphy is what most people are after I think with IF
this whole IF thing seems to fly in the face of conventional ideas on metabolic rate isn't the whole idea that you eat small portions throughout the day so you don't go through peaks and valleys
TBQH this whole thing seems to fly in the face of conventional weight loss but it seems to work. That’s why I curious about he IF thing.
I think the concept of small meals is to prevent yourself from having a weakness breakdown and eating a big meal. Keep your body constantly fueled. IF incorporates not eating obviously, which funny enough coincides with weight loss, shrinking stomach, among other things. 8 Health Benefits of Fasting, Backed by Science Promotes Blood Sugar Control by Reducing Insulin Resistance. ... Promotes Better Health by Fighting Inflammation. ... May Enhance Heart Health by Improving Blood Pressure, Triglycerides and Cholesterol Levels. ... May Boost Brain Function and Prevent Neurodegenerative Disorders you need to be eating 5 hours before your runs. you need to just take my previous advice since priority for you is fitness.
which boils down to calories in and calories out (you were simply eating less obviously). as wes tegg pointed out, ketosis is a separate argument with different benefits. weight loss is only a part of it.
fasting allows your body to rid itself of dying and dead cells and speeds the rejuvenation process. IF does this to an extent and is supposed to increase brain activity. it also makes your organs shrink as they purge the dying cells and become more efficient I want to do more 24-48 hour fasts
IF shouldn't be considered a "weight loss diet" plan. it's for overall health, of which optimal weight management is a side effect
If theres one thing keto has taught me its that i most definitely have, at the minimum, a gluten intolerance. Trips to the toilet are much shorter and completely without pain. So great.
here’s a few for now but i’ll get some actual studies from pubmed when i have time https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/295914.php https://news.usc.edu/63669/fasting-triggers-stem-cell-regeneration-of-damaged-old-immune-system/
