If you are dehydrated, the urine ketone concentration will obviously higher and give you a "false positive." This often happens to a mild degree in the morning. Likewise, if you are drinking a lot of fluids, the ketone concentration will be lower and give you a "false negative." But the piss strips are so cheap you could easily use 3/4 day to establish a good baseline.
Right, so what I am saying and based on that, you might get your most accurate reading in the morning when some of that water runs through you.
strips will allow me to check it in between. if Ketosis is as finicky as people say, going two months between checks seems like a bad idea.
Ended up going with Chipotle Keto Bowl because they delivered. Not that good tbh. Wish I would have gone to Popeye's.
Read semi as bi. And I don't think urine strips are a good idea to take as gospel I'd invest in something that tests blood if you are that worried about it.
If you're staying under 20g carbs/day you should stay in ketosis anyway I'd think. I do it just to verify and to see if it goes higher/lower. I only test in the morning and it's always around an 8.
Right, I agree, I do the urine strips. Seemed like he was more concerned about it than I am though. I know I am less than 20 going in, just like to see what different foods are that impact me during the process. For example I had some chili yesterday that was home made, lots of peppers, onions and tomatoes. Long story short, still in ketosis, but brought me down a shade which I thought was interesting.
I'm 5 days into this. I'm not that worried about it. I know if I keep under 20 carbs I'll hit Ketosis, but I figured I would ask some questions so I know what to expect with the pee strips. I'll wait before this is a lifestyle change before I spend $50+ on something that could be used 3 times then put into a cabinet for the next 5 years.
When the thread started I forget who it was but they basically said don’t waste your money on the strips. I make sure I eat less than 20 carbs a day. I am losing weight and inches. I am not hungry. I cut out sugar. I think I am in ketosis and wasting the money on strips wouldn’t put in it if I am not.
When I first started I got a ton of my fat in with giant coffees with MCT and kerrygold. They usually held me over until dinner.
I am the same way. I am on day 8, and bought the pee strips. I drink a lot of water and tried a couple and couldn’t really tell, so I just said screw it. I know I have kept things under 20g carbs, that’s good enough for me.
I basically didn’t gain any weight back after going off the diet for like three weeks. Drank and ate like shit.
2 month progress report. 31 lbs lost. If I laid off the beer and treats over Christmas, it could have easily been 40lb imo, but alas.
Found a meat stick and some cheese whisps. Took the cookies out of the wrapper and threw them in the outside trash.
Did the mushroom pizza. They came out good for my first time. Grilled my wings with a dry rub I found at Vons. All In all not a bad replacement for my traditional CNC game meal.
Did you just say fuck it over the holidays and eat/drink whatever you want? If so, were you in ketosis going in and have you been able to get back in ketosis since then?
