I went grocery shopping with the intent to start and took one stroll by the beer and said fuck it and grabbed 2 six packs of IPA and a 6 of DIPA. Probably would not be able to sustain this long. I already eat essentially no processed sugar anyway. Going to give some IF a shot with my current meal and snack rotation. I have no clue what to try between the 16/8 or the 5:2 method. Some people also just fast for 24 hours once or twice a week?
I know people that fast for that long sure. r/fasting has a lot of good info on how long you should go, and what to eat when you end your fast. Dudes on there will fast for 24/48/72 and I saw one guy go 40 days. I do 23:1 daily.
By far the most interesting benefit to me is the autophagy aspect of fasting so I’m looking into doing a longer fast 2-3 times a year.
valter longo knows his shit. i wonder how old that study is we sell his prolon kits. i tried it and it was awesome. probably do it again soon, i don’t think it’s enough food to take you out of ketosis https://prolonfmd.com/what-is-prolon/
Did the diet a few years ago and lost a bunch of weight. Have slowly gained about half of it back. I started back a few days ago. Has anyone noticed a funny taste once you start ketosis? It’s almost metallic.
noticed that today. feel like my breath stinks too, i got some sugar free gum today. i think that’s one of the signs?

“ProLon ingredients are plant-based and do not contain additives, preservatives* or chemicals.“ Based upon the monumental stupidity of this statement alone i wouldn’t buy it.
You guys that have been doing it for awhile what percentage of body fat are you guys? Also do any of you do lots of endurance exercising ?
Correct. Just being particular and havin’ a go at it (jokingly). Even a bag full of air is a chemical. I do think it’s dishonest marketing when supplement companies throw that statement out there though. I’m sure they mean no _________ chemicals where the blank could be fille by harsh or any number of other adjectives, but words matter if it’s going into my body.
This is what I am wondering as well. Are you guys basically just at a good weight and better health, or are you able to keep muscle on/gain muscle on this diet if you lift? You know, there is a difference between being good weight/bmi vs. being "in shape."
I did it this summer and loved it. Fell off the wagon in October and I started again today. My bloodwork numbers for sugar and liver were amazing when I went on it. I have a hypothyroid condition so I get my blood tested every 6 months. Dramatic improvements, enjoyable lifestyle diet, and felt great. I am not really heavy but I did lose 10 pounds. I love eggs, meat, cheese etc. so it worked really well for me. I used the keto diet app on ios until I had a good handle of how much and what to eat every day. It's really good.
Same here. I’m at like 14% body fat and looking to trim down to get them abs showing. But I can’t do it and risk messing up my 5-mile run or 12-mile ruck time.
I ran competitive 5k/10k (weekly mileage about 60 miles). Lower weight the better. Not a coincidence all 5k runners look like marathon runners. Not sure Keto is best bet though. https://www.flotrack.org/ http://www.letsrun.com/forum/forum.php?board=1
this podcast has been awesome so far. they're talking about the prolon, prolonged fasting, IF, keto, etc
The natural ones have less sugar than the regular. I don’t like how quickly the oil separates though.
almond butter is much better for you than peanut lots of conflicting studies on peanuts in general. linked to inflammation and other chronic symptoms
Went with this as a peanut butter substitute. Different flavors give you options for combos — I usually put some on rice cakes. Nuts 'N More Peanut Butter Spread, High Protein, Great Tasting, All Natural Sports Nutrition, 16 oz Jar
The reddit link posted itt argued against working out that’s why I asked about it awhile ago. I’d rather not lose more than 15 pounds so I am hoping this will just help be get in better shape rather than have me lose a ton of weight (if that makes sense).
As someone who’s worked a 1p-10p shift and usually only eaten a decent sized meal around noon and occasional snack around 5pm, I’ve gotten used to it and the IF thing is intriguing My brother is doing keto and has noticeably lost weight, so I’m starting to incorporate it. The stevia thing hasn’t been as big of a hurdle as I anticipated. The carbs is just something I know having shopped for bread over the years but still hard to avoid the pizza and fries.
There's some decent cauliflower crust pizza around, not going to replace actual great pizza like Little Caesars or anything, but it's an option
