I’ve been having an rough few weeks after a car accident. Yesterday felt pretty down/in pain so decided to do some real fat boy shit. Went to Baskin Robbins and bought a quart of prepackaged mint chocolate chip ice cream. Over the could the rest of the afternoon/evening I ate the whole damn thing. Was saying to myself I’d probably gain 5 pounds from this but fuck it. Woke up at 4am and had to take a massive shit (no surprise). Weighed myself this morning to see what the damage was and I was down 7 pounds from my weight on Sunday. Wtf?
Well the car accident was like 4 weeks ago. Been dealing with the pain since. My weight has been pretty steady si ce I had the wreck. I can’t really explain 7 pounds in like 36 hours.
I weigh pre and post shit sometimes just to marvel at the amount of shit that just flowed out of my body.
I had a colonoscopy last week and a CT scan with contrast Monday so I've been peeing out of my butt over the past 5 days. Finally stopped. Scale looooooked really nice with all that water loss though.
I’ve become a master at omelettes on this diet. Need to experiment with more fillings, but chorizo and goat cheese is too perfect.
Me and cauliflower are become beat friends, I had 46 carbs today but 25 were from fiber so I only netted 21.
Haven't tried them yet. I ate very few carbs all day so I could have two grilled/stuffed chicken burritos for dinner. Usually get the Rao's artichoke flavor because it's also 3 net per half cup. The other Rao's varieties are 4-5 for the same serving. I am assuming the taste is comparable. Price is the same but these were on sale today.
Super easy sauce that can also be used as a dressing: 16 oz Tomatillo salsa 2 tbsp mayo Juice from a lime Pinch of salt 1 avocado Blend together. Enjoy. Just had it on a piece of cod. Would also make a good dressing, sauce for roasted chicken, on a burger or steak, in place of Hollandaise, etc.
Hardest macro for me to stay under is protein, I’m really good on carbs and fat every day. I stay under or within about 5 grams of I ever go over but that’s the only one that’s been tough at all for me.
Made these tonight: https://realbalanced.com/recipe/chocolate-bar-fat-bombs/#tasty-recipes-2253 Easiest thing I’ve ever made. Used a mini-muffin tin instead of silicone molds and they came out easily. Got 20 servings instead of 9 as a result. They’re roughly 1/2 to 3/4 size of a Reese’s cup. Have a pretty decent taste that will do in a pinch when I need something or something sweet. I think putting down a small layer and freezing, adding a small amount of peanut butter, then topping with more mixture and freezing would be a great faux-Reese’s cup.
I know these are easy to make, my issue has been that I don’t have a single one of those ingredients in my house. Your post is inspiring me to give it a try though.
An unexpected benefit of this is that it has virtually stopped my snoring. I don't think it's necessarily a weight thing, at least not solely. I've been at this same weight before and snored like a freight train. Think it might have something to do with water retention. Sometimes when I drank a lot it would be Defcon 1, my ass is being sent to the couch loud. Haven't had a single complaint or elbow in the stomach in the last 2.5 months.
Weighed in at 195.1 this morning. Inching closer to the goal. Found a bunch of Keto desserts at Whole Foods. 1 net carb. Chocolate coffee cups.
Was 186 yesterday morning after starting at 205ish and down from 215 last summer. By far the lowest I’ve been since college (and probably sophomore year at that). Goal is probably 5 more pounds then slowly add back in complex carbs and just a more traditional healthy diet. But since today is Easter I’m gonna eat all the Carbs
Luckily, I’m in charge of the meal, so we’re having: Ham Honey-glazed carrots (no honey for me) Creamed spinach Green beans with shallots Some type of roll (not for me) Not perfect keto, but it works overall and won’t make me regret my choices.
Skipping lunch as we speak, going to be eating a big dinner of some sort so I’m saving my macros for that.
More of a cheat day/reward for my progress after being good most of Lent for me. But that sounds delicious
Have been on Keto the past two weeks and feel pretty great. Energy levels up (with the exception of aerobic activity), appetite curbed a bit, and am sleeping so much better. Have been doing the meal prep thing which is convenient for me. Hitting the road traveling for work for three straight weeks starting in a week and wondering if anyone in this thread has ever been able to keep up on Keto on that type of a schedule/lifestyle?
Are you using an app to track? Most major restaurants nutritional info is trackable via an app which helps
Decided to skip lunch today so I could have a big ass dinner, eating an 18 oz ribeye, cauliflower casserole and a side salad and I’ll slide in under all my macros
When I was on the road for a full week, I just stcuk to a lot of beef (steak and burgers) and a lot of salads with dressing. Breakfast was simply coffee with butter and either eggs or a Quest bar. Just try to avoid sugar and flour and you’ll be OK.
Was quite gluttonous this weekend. Had carb centric food for the first time since New Years. 2 slices of pizza, breakfast burrito, fries. Just finished it up with some tacos. The last day of TMB loser contest is Friday so I’ll rebound pretty well this week. Thinking split a pack of pepperoni between lunch/dinner Mon-Wen then a 48 hour fast Thurs/Fri for the weigh in.
Grilled some chicken breasts with salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne, onion powder, and garlic powder. Seared on the grill first, then threw a cast iron skillet on the grill with a bunch of butter and flipped the chicken repeatedly in the butter and finished them back on the grill with a little lime juice on top, and it’s really good.
I've done pretty well with no cheating. Started late March and had no cheat meals at all. Our office building has a restaurant downstairs went to get scrambled eggs with some sausage. They had pre-made bowls made the purchase and realized there were home fries on the bottom under the eggs. Ate 1/2 cup of them. The horror. Interested to see if that kicks me out of ketosis.
I’ll be in San Diego next week for a wedding with my college friends. My stomach is going to hate me. Going to try and cut out carbs as much as feasible so I don’t hate life the whole time.
Anyone wanna give this a try? https://www.news4jax.com/news/national/man-loses-40-pounds-drinking-only-beer-during-lent
Been looking at my macros for the last two weeks, I’m averaging about 1590 calories 117 grams of protein and 107 grams of fat with 15 net carbs a day on average.
I took some pecan halves and coated them with melted butter and Lakanto sweetener and baked at 325 until caramelized. Good lord. Definitely added to the rotation.
Holy fuck, never going 100% cheat again. So much stomach pain. This is an exact re-enactment of me over the last 48 hours except coming out of my ass not my mouth.
