zero chance. Peggy has strong moral values, she'd despise Trump just based on his character. the main cast would never be Trumpers despite most of them having typical late 90s-early 00s conservative values. you have to get into the side characters to find Trumpers. Buck would be a Trumper, for example. Ted Wassonasong is a Trumper. Cotton would have been one and Didi also (because Cotton would tell her how to vote).
peggy is definitely the dumbest one and would fall for trump's BS. Ted & Cotton would've been too. And Topsy.
Cotton would have been interesting with his obsession with military valor while Trump is a draft dodger that frequently belittles veterans. They should reprise Green Day’s characters as War on Terror vets. They and the Dixie Chicks deserve a chance to say I Told You So in animated form.
Except for maybe Hank, they’d all be Trumpers. It’s going to be a tough needle for them to thread with how much of the shows original theme revolved around conservatism and the changing society in the 90s/00s. Feel like they either ignore Trump all together or he’s mentioned 10x an episode. I could see Hank supporting relatively unknown 3rd party candidate Murray Hogarth though.
bill will do what hank tells him to do so he wouldn’t be a trumper. dale by all accounts should be but i think the biggest conspiracy theory guy ever totally rejecting the biggest conspiracy there is would be incredible. boomhauer is a cop of course he’s a trump guy. peggy probably would support trump initially just because she’s oblivious
i mean, it would take some weird timeline stuff to even reach trump era but even if they do that i don't think they address it at all. at least not while he's in office. also the list of episode names for this first season doesn't really hint at anything of the sort.
you guys speak about this like Trump never existed before 2016. any Boomer or Xer grew up knowing who Trump is and the litany of stuff that existed about him even back then. he was a multi-time failed candidate with an incredibly questionable social and financial history. plenty of people swerved away from him despite prior political leanings. Peggy was a strong feminist and made friends with sex workers and the LGBT community. you're out of your fucking minds if you think it's even getting to the point where she'd be hoodwinked by campaign promises. some of you need a healthy rewatch of this series imo. to suggest "except for Hank, they'd all be Trumpers" given some of the things Hank has said and done is absurd. do you remember what he said about transpeople when he was having to get a physician to assess he's biologically male to change the mistake on his driver's license? and that's not even me saying Hank would be a Trumper but the entire main cast makes it pretty obvious over the course of the series that they wouldn't end up MAGA at the end of the day.
My counterpoint is we all probably know tons of Boomers that were similarly not insane 10 or more years ago who have now completely nuked their brains in support of Trump.
Hank takes a lucrative propane job in Saudi Arabia, the show picks up when they retire and move back.
I saw someone mention the SA thing but thought they were trolling. That doesn't seem like something Hank would do IMO.
Watched while trying to pause throughout to pick up on the scene changes. Bill being the first to cough as it shifted to the Covid era is so perfect. He also never comes back in to the shot And of course Dale was the one person wearing his mask like a chin diaper
RIP John Redcorn. There was a shooting last night at the burned remains of Jonathan Joss’ house with someone dying. Looks like it was Joss. https://amp.tmz.com/2025/06/02/king...joss-dead-shot-san-antonio-texas-voice-actor/

One of the funniest jokes in TV history big RIP— Biblically Accurate Wario (@zaaack.bsky.social) 2025-06-02T16:18:39.647Z
I worked with Jonathan on The Magnificent 7, and spent a lot of time around him. He was always trying to make people smile/laugh. I stayed acquaintances with him through social media, and his life had been on a roller coaster this past year. He married his husband not too long ago, and the people in his town were pretty hateful about it. They burned his house down and destroyed his car (he was away for both instances). When he went back today to his property, he found his dog’s skull (dog was ‘missing’ since the fire) with the leash next to it. He started yelling at anyone who came near, and then the guy who he always presumed to have done all of this to him, drove up and pulled a gun. The guy aimed it at Jonathan’s husband and fired. Jonathan rushed and pushed him out of the way, taking the bullet. The guy drove off in his truck, leaving Jonathan gasping for air, where his husband held him until he died. The two of them had been essentially homeless for a while (waiting on insurance to come through on their house), riding in a rental car from convention to convention, making money from signing autographs and selling King of the Hill novelty items. Truly depressing to see his life tailspin, and have it end so suddenly, all because of homophobia.
Knowing quite a few similar families similar to the Hills who have moved to the Middle East for work this is just terrific.
his husband pretty much out and out said being gay was why he was murdered. it's Texas so we'll get a murder conviction but don't count on them giving a shit that he was murdered for being gay.
