I don’t think people are criticizing the Monken hire itself. I don’t have an opinion on that until I see whether he wins the introductory press conference or not.
You appear to know that he struggled picking up the offense despite evidence to the contrary. Where’s the evidence that he struggled?
That's a group. If you suggest he can't pick up the offense that's saying yes not smart. Plus he's black so it goes without saying with much of the S GA fanbase
I do know that, that was information circling long before he transferred. And this isn't hard to understand about his freshman year, he played well against the OVC conference and in every other game looked like he had no idea what was going on. He played well against Tennessee but it was all his legs. Was it coaching? idk, Fromm played much better than him in those games.
That information was poorly sourced guessing at best, and racist at worst (and most likely). He also looked good in games in which he was given more than 1 snap in a row, and bad in games that he was basically given a single wildcat play and then removed. The entirety of his actual performance during the season was good. Everything else I’ve seen is nonsense, but I’d be willing to take a look at anything compelling in the alternative.
Yes. You gotta know which direction to turn to hand the ball off while also worrying about not tripping over your own feet.
Yeah, I’ve mostly moved past it other than giving shit to OSU fans for having to watch Burrow win the national title. I just think that stuff about Fields is nonsense considering his performance at UGA, his performance at OSU, and what his coaches have said about him.
I wanted to see Fields under Day before I claimed him the GOAT, but since he's proven to be special, I've maintained that it was the coaches fault for all of this. He wasn't used properly under Chaney. I think Chaney and Kirby ended up going with the safe bet in Fromm due to his knowledge of the offense and his safety with the ball. That's my main worry with Kirby. He won't gtfo out of the way of the offense. He'd rather play conservative. It's cost us a lot in just 4 years.
I was really worried about that, but I’m pretty relieved by the Monken hire. Most coaches are going to make mistakes at some point, but I’m glad Kirby (seems like he) isn’t the type to compound the mistake by valuing loyalty over competence.
His offense is pass-heavy, but he runs it some as well. His last year here in 2015 we had two 1,000+ yard rushers which had only happened once before in program history. Set all kind of records on offense. Love the hire for UGA. I was hoping we'd fire our guy after 2020 and hire him back, but he's probably out of our price range now. I hope he does well in Athens.
Fromm had a head start, and Kirby didn’t let fields prove himself on the field. Thankfully Kirby is rectifying that mistake. He has learned from it.
Dell hasn’t been passed over for anything. He runs most of the program in Kirby’s absence. Dell knows Kirby will make him a HC one day just like he did Sam and Mel.
These are the type of things that don’t get said during the season. Most dawg fans would disagree if a rival fan said it. Only after the season is over they are all bums and the Wake Forest QB is the answer.
Some real mouth-breathers in here at the moment. Must be a slow day at work if Jake Scott is taking time to engage you autistic fucks.
I think you can peruse any of our game threads the last half of the season and see we were all very concerned with the offense. But its ok I know you are still upset about Monday and just lashing out.
I have no idea how true this is, was apparently on one of the UGA boards Kirby Smart is now 0-7 since 2017 against teams that rank in the top ten of 247's Talent Composite. Average margin of defeat: 17 Average talent ranking for UGA in that time: 2.3
I said this in another thread, but Georgia fans need to embrace that Kirby is more Jimbo, than he is Saban. He will recruit at a high level, and maybe win them a national championship, but he’s not going to sustain a dynasty.
The biggest problem with the UGA fan base is they want to compare themselves to Bama, the gnashing of teeth on the junkyard is hilarious. There would be a lot less disappointment if they’d just accept it for what it was.
