She could have easily left this in the drafts and not come off as a xenophobe. Case and point, if you want to praise someone. Do what Chris Evans did.
I mean I guess, just seems like trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill, unless JLC is a racist and I was unaware I mean Steve Bannon needs to be hanging from a noose, why try to make this a story
I think honestly we should show grace when people show growth but I guess she could’ve just kept that to herself. that being said, Evan’s was spot on with his praise of De Armas. She is a wonderful actress
thinking of seeing it in theaters despite being on Netflix in December. was a fun theatre experience.
I'm going on Sunday - this 'one week only' bullshit is annoying, but I guess it's better than no cinematic release at all.
Ehn, it was fine, I guess. The acting & characters saved the film, because the storyline was fairly basic (and a tad predictable) and the direction seemed all over the place. I nearly nodded off about 3 times because the pacing kept slowing down and soooooo much time was spent on the flashback. I felt Knives Out was much better.
Watching it now - Knives Out is a lot to live up to, they nailed that film. Edit: Watched it, enjoyed it (girls fell asleep but admittedly we started a movie at like 1:30am) but it's not anywhere near the same level as Knives out imo.
I liked Knives Out more but thought Glass Onion was solid. I’ll keep watching these movies as long as they keep casting Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc
It was fun and entertaining even if I didn’t feel like they landed the plane. Middle third of the movie was the best part
between this and Don't Look Up I think it's safe to say I simply don't find full on parodies of our current social/political climate enjoyable watches, sitting through a movie filled with these assholes isn't appealing to me no matter how much they're made fun of, the jokes were predictable, the basic story was predictable, the comeuppance wasn't rewarding to me maybe some time down the road it'll hit differently Craig was a joy once again, hope we get more
Johnson is in a select group of the best writers in film right now. Another well-written gem. Also, I could watch Daniel Craig play that character until the end of time.
The setting and mood of Knives Out is just a hard level to copy. Also, I found some of the social commentary to be a swing and a miss for me.
It’s just so heavy handed in films like this. We don’t need to be told repeatedly that Batista’s character is a Joe Rogan type. Say less sometimes.
I think that was a large part of what frustrated me about the film. There were some very shallow characterisations in there, in addition to a couple of actors being completely wasted, particularly Hahn & Henwick. Very different to Knives Out, where pretty much every member of the ensemble had their moment in the sun. And yes, super predictable. And I'm not really someone that goes that well with whodunnits - I'm normally too wrapped up in the storyline.
those, white lotus, triangle of sadness, and more all running the same bits. I’m down to shit on the uber rich as much as anyone, but seeing the same jokes again and again is boring
dont look up didn't work if you remotely followed politics over the last 10 years. for people outside that bubble i'm sure it was fine. white lotus season 1 was so much better than 2, and i'm late to even watching it. season 1 was more of a human story, season 2 became self parody.
watched it tonight and liked it a lot. i haven't revisited knives out since my original rewatch but i probably preferred it because ana de armas + more (and debut of) craig + chris evans as the villain is just a better combination than this had. i do think this movie benefits from elon musk acting a very public fool for the last few months.
i think season 1 didn’t benefit from being filmed during Covid. I kind of see your point about a human story. Granted it was a tragic one.
I'll go back to watch Glass Onion to pick up all the easter eggs and clues I missed the first time. I've gone back to Knives Out multiple times because it's a great story with great characters.
Agree with others in liking it but not as much as Knives Out. I hope Johnson and Craig do a third one.
I regret to inform myself I have ended up on the same side of a take as Ben Shapiro (albeit for different reasons). I’ll go drive off a bridge now
I liked it overall but it's entire premise lacked logic. Like girl you never got any ownership stake in writing even through the IPO? Can't even think of any way that would be possible.
He's completely right, though. The McGuffin with Monae's character was totally unrealistic and something nobody was going to predict. It's like Johnson took the most outlandish ideas from Knives Out and turned them up to 11.
Didn’t think it was as good as Knives Out, but I really enjoyed that film, so tough to compete. Janelle Monae was great.
