I think it depends on your state. In NJ, once you register to vote absentee, you can’t vote in person. I switched it during Covid and didn’t switch it back for the 2022 election and found out when I went to the polling location that I wasn’t allowed to vote so I had to go home, find my mail in ballot and put it in the box at city hall. From these lawsuits, I know that, in PA, you can turn in your mail-in ballot to vote in person but if you don’t have it, you can only cast a provisional ballot.
