The way his dad talks I was expecting some Jordan mixed with Lebron mixed with Kobe with the defensive tenacity of Rodman.
I've studied the top picks and watched a ton of CBB. Ball is good. His court vision, and unselfishness are his greatest assets. His man to man defense is absolutely atrocious, and he has no mid range game at all. It's either a layup, dunk, or 3. Take a guess how many shots Lonzo took all season that were midrange jump shots? 11. Fucking 11. I think with the up tempo style Walton wants to play he will be good, and rack up assists easily, but his defense and other aspects of his offensive game have to improve or he will get torched.
Umm excuse me, if Golden State got rid of Steph and put Lonzo on the team right now they'd be a better team. Just ask Lavar.
11 mid range shots all season? I don't follow CBB as close as I used to, but that doesn't seem like very many, especially for a Guard.
He shies away from contact.. He isn't a physical player at all. That is why I think it is going to be a big adjustment for him in the NBA. For proof of this just look at his average Free Throws he attempted a game. It was absurdly low for a pg who had the ball as much as he did at UCLA. Again to be clear. His positives are BIG TIME positives. Great passer, makes players around him better, unselfish almost to a fault, and seems unlike his moron of a father to be a really good kid.
she talks shit about his family and how he's a bad father and he tells her to mind her own business and stay out of his so she obviously says he was threatening her team big baller as usual
I saw he had a comparison to Jason Kidd, how fair is that at this point in his career? IIRC, Kidd didn't have a great jump shot in HS or College and it slowly got better.
I'm old enough to give an opinion on this. Kidd was a freak coming out of Cal. He was a better athlete than Ball, but their games are relatively similar. Having watched both of them I would say Kidd was better coming out of college but obviously Ball is no slouch.
I want Lavar to walk into a forest fire and never return but he was within his right to defend himself in that situation. She asked for it iyam.
If anyone wants to dispute my Lonzo breakdown i'm all ears.. I like him as a prospect but he isn't the 2nd coming of Magic with a jumpshot as his father says.
I remember seeing Kidd play in the McDonald's All American game and being floored by how good he was in comparison to everyone else out there.
Lonzo is absolutely an elite prospect. If your major criticism is mid-range shooting, it's not a great one as that skill is virtually irrelevant in CBB and teams actively avoid it in the NBA. He has elite court vision and feel and is deadly in transition. The notion he's a bad shooter is laughable. He was lights out from deep this year (41%) and his range stretches well-beyond the NBA 3. He also can finish at and above the rim as he coverted 73% of his 2's. His mechanics are disgusting, but we've seen it work before (Kevin Martin) and he's been deadly spot up to boot, one of the more important stats in modern basketball. The concern is his ability to shoot off the dribble, specifically going right, which is very unnatural for him. Defenders will try to force him to do this in the half-court, but he's such a smart player, if teams try to pigeon hole him too much, he's so big and such a deadly passer he'll likely make them pay. Definsively, he has very average lateral quickness, but this guy is a 6'6" PG, which is huge in offsetting quickness mismatches. As mentioned, he's very smart as well and fills passing lanes. He definitely has value on that end. His floor is essentially a bigger Ricky Rubio who can spot-up shoot. That's a damn good player.
The most outlandish, ridiculous thing about all the Ball stuff is that Lavar thinks Liangelo is going to play NBA basketball.
Fantastic analysis. I actually helped scout him for the state championship his junior year. The most glaring "hole" in his game was his strong left tendancy that you alluded to. He passes out and refuses to penetrate anytime he went right but if he went left you knew he was going to the basket. Not sure how he's worked on the part of his game over the past year but it was definitely something I noticed when scouting hm. All of that said he still lit the school I was helping out for like 36 points, BUT we did get the victory. Everything else is spot on with him. He is like a miniature Jason Kidd to me. Lonzo is easily the best passer I've seen come out of college since Jason... Lonzo's full court passes are like nothing I've ever seen before, and he threads it routinely multiple times per game. I'm confident he'll be an NBA all-star at some point. Superstar? Meh, don't think his offensive game has that much potential, but he's one of those guys that is going to elevate teams by so much more than his scoring. I am excited to see him play in the pros, especially because his first year is gonna be nothing but players going at him every damn night.
No one with the games he had against Kentucky (either one) and Arizona in the conference final has a floor above Ricky Rubio. That's dumb.
Lonzo Ball has no physical or skill limitations. He was a freshman in college, inconsistency happens, even amongst superstars.
I get the outlandish statements to get pub/ everyone talking about BBB, but damn. Wish they go all bad boys on his Ass when they play him.
The ironic thing is that due to the faggy nature of guys being friends in the NBA it actually increases the chances players on other teams take a shot at him now.
I'm confused about the context of that comment. KI said for lavar to let Lonzo be lonzo. Lavar said Ki is not a father (which he is). ....then momma jokes?
I think Kyrie told Lavar to let Lonzo be Lonzo and then added that when HE was 18 he had to have a conversation with his father where he effectively said "I have to be responsible for my own decisions." So Lavar came back and said "well he doesn't have the same relationship with his family that we do with Zo." Thats when he made the mom comments.
I was told that you couldn't win a championship with three honkeys playing. I think I see 17 honkeys on this squad. Someone please clarify.
Yeah the NBA is going to be a rude awakening for his kids with the checks his mouth has written and will continue to write.
I agree with you about alot of things. In this particular case, not at all. This kid is going to take a beating next year. Maybe not physically, but players are going to torture him on the court. Think Toni Kukoc against the USA 92 Olympic style. Toni Kukoc didn't say a word, much like Lonzo, but the late Jerry Krause made some comments and concessions about him (not nearly as brash as Lavar) that infuriated Jordan and Pippen. They didn't hit him or start a fight, but they made his life a living hell on the court to prove a point. I expect much the same, especially against the stars Lavar has called out.
If you heard the Kyrie interview it was not even insulting. That's the part that is annoying. Kyrie is a good kid by any measure. Lavar took harmless comments and took it up 10 notches. Just fuck that guy.
and yet, this thread moves a page every day when the lavar ball says something outlandish. hmmmmmmmm.
I doubt it. These guys will be friends with Lonzo. Can you give me any recent example of any player being tortured physically or verbally in the NBA?
