Players were pretty rough on him the first couple years and he was frozen out in the All Star game his second year. But there are who will be drafted this year who may not have been alive when that happened, so not that recent.
I think kobe was far from 'tortured' and the NBA 20 years ago was much tougher on rookies and young dudes in general than it is now. No one cares and everyone isn't going to fuck with a dude because his dad's a dick
I generally agree, but I think the shoe thing will lead to some ill will from veteran players on opposing teams. But I agree it will be nothing like what players used to see 15+ years ago.
No I can't, that's why I said tortured on the court. Meaning they will D him up hardcore, and take it at him on offense at every turn. I don't see any situation where there is an altercation, because as I said Lonzo doesn't say much, and he's relatively soft spoken.
Right you said tortured. Who does that happen to? You consider playing defense and beating someone on offense torture? OK. We'll never agree on this because to me that means 'playing basketball'
Can we just put Sin on him for 48 minutes and call it a day? I can't imagine he would be fun to be covered by. Edited to Sin because i'm clueless.
The first few times you called him this I thought it was a typo, but since he will be a Celtic shortly I feel like you need to know it's sin, not sid
Not a typo I fucked up, multiple times. No excuses Ark but I assumed it was Sid because it was the first three letters in his name. God that's bad.
I feel like Lonzo will get the Kent Benson treatment when they play Cleveland. Lots of iso moves with Kyrie, who may go for 60 that game.
That's what I was talking about when Ark pointed out I used the word Torture. Total misuse of the word on my part. What you said it what I can see occurring on the regular.
I assume their motivation came from the overwhelming media exposure. I could see the same happening to Lonzo.
Yeah, except it's not the media, it's his dad. I think Irving was dead on in what he said. His father isn't helping him in regards facing elite NBA players who he is routinely badmouthing.
I think the whole 'these guys are actually going to try because reason x' is ridiculous 'Tom Brady is out for blood after deflategate' No, he's just really fucking good
Curry? C'mon man Curry is a bum. If you put Curry on last years UCLA team and put Lonzo on this years Warrior team forget about it. Lebron and Co wouldn't even take their flight to game 1. Just wave the white flag and be done with it.
It's the media giving Lavar the platform. Without the media eating up everything he said this would be a non issue.
Good one which brings me to your question of an example of a player being shit on. In this case it was the Patriots after Goodell after spygate. They intentionally ran the score up on every team that season to prove a point. They thrashed everyone until the Super Bowl loss to the Giants. There was definite motivation by Belichick to prove a point at the rest of the NFL's expense. No question. The amount of bitching and whining that went on that season was hilarious, and I hate the Patriots.
They always ball out. I don't think you could find me a big difference between the very good patriots teams that would indicate that they ran it up
They were up by like 35 on the Redskins and had starters in and were throwing the ball in the 4th. That is running it up wouldn't you say?
This happens in the nfl all the time. Especially with coaches like belichik. If the game plan is to throw it you throw it. Peyton did this all the time as well. They don't pull those qbs and the game plan doesn't change
Damn i'd have to look it up. All I remember is the Patriots were playing Washington that year and I was invited to the game and I was like "nah I'll watch that tidy 60-10 game from home"... the game ended close to that. I remember after the game they were asking all the Redskins if they felt disrespected etc for the Pats running up the score.
I didn't see your post before I wrote mine. I remember that game like it was yesterday. It was like watching the Celtics/Cavs series.. Anyway, moving on Lavar Ball sucks.
I don't think continuing to play your sport/game plan is ever running it up in a professional sport. How can you run it up in a salary cap league where the guys on the other side are paid millions to stop you?
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but when the game is well in hand I wouldn't feel much sympathy if a star player from the winning team got hurt either.
That's just a weird sentiment. 'youre doing your job and you're really good at it, your coach hasn't sat you because this is a professional sport. I don't feel bad for you if you injur yourself'
Because sportsmanship does exist and well there's no reason to run it up regardless of the level even if they're being paid millions.
They wouldn't. JIgga was mocking me with the "as a Celtics fan" intro mention that I got rightfully ripped for because I said it 2354 times in my posts.
Saying I wouldn't feel much sympathy for a player who gets hurt while his team is running up the score =/= wishing injury upon them.
Its stupid. You don't feel bad when a dude gets injured because his team is winning by a lot and his coach put him in the game? What the fuck did the player have to do with it?
At what point on the score board do you think competitive athletes should take themselves out of the game and just refuse to play so you aren't ok with injury?
