Break out the string-trimmer and cut a a smooth line at the foot of that back fence.

Fence and the grass look much better, btw

Ground is much more uneven than it appears in the picture IMO.

My new house has this combination of heinous square and rectangle brick pavers that line all of the flower beds. I've ripped them all out and am going to save some money and make a patio with them once my back porch gets done.

What should I do now to delineate the flower beds from the lawn? I've seen the plastic or metal barriers in Lowes. Anyone with any experience with these? My parents just had regular straw beds with a rolled edge that I might just go with.

Depends on your grass type. We have Bermuda, which crawls all over everything due to the stolons.

I've put up a plastic barrier in one bed and have bought it for the 2nd bed but haven't laid it out yet. it's nice to have, can be a bitch to put down though. helps if you do it after it's rained obviously.

What do you think about the coverage area of ready seal, it says 5 gal wil cover 625 sq feet. I have about 125 linear feet of 6 foot fence, so need probably 2, just wondering if I would really need 3.

I washed / pressure washed my fence weeks ago, but haven't had more than 2 days of sun in a row so haven't had a chance to stain / seal it.

I think it depends on how new the wood is/type/etc. Are you talking 2x5gal or 2 gal? 5 gal for me (with wood that had just been stripped to "new" with the pressure washer) MAYBE did the recommended length front and back, but I'd say it was more like 3/4 of the manufacturer's estimate.

The main advantage, to me, is that it's one coat (despite what you read) aside from perhaps the supports, and it doesn't need correction: you put as much (or as little) as you like on there and, within reason, it will look even with just the spray/roll/brush.

2- 5 gal, I'm only doing one side of the fence, and 90% of it is the "smooth" side so don't have to do the 2x4s.

It's an old fence that I pressure washed so it'll probably soak it up

I bet you'll still need more, but as you say, not having to do the 2x4's will help. I suppose I wouldn't have to do my neighbor's side, but since it's such a big fence in my case, I have no interest in dropping $5-10k on a new fence. This thing better last 40 years.

So I have a very large amount of rock in my landscaping from previous owner. It's basically laid down instead of mulch. My question, if I wanna just put mulch over it, would that be stupid? Weeds grow like crazy in this area. I'll try and take some pics later. TIA.

Also, forgot to mention. Like a dumbass, I bought the first one on my CC. I ended up buying 4-5 and have an HD account. I could easily have 6 mos financing (and do on the later ones), but forgot on the first. I know most people on here are Shock-type independently wealthy, but for someone that's more month-to-month, this pissed me off!

There is nothing growing really growing in these areas, its more of like a waste bunker on a golf course, but rocks instead of sand. I have two huge dead trees currently in said rock landscaping.

Other option is to remove said rock and plant grass (don't know if i want to mess with that though).

I'm thinking about getting a yard man... I love cutting the grass, but finding the time between the rain is a pain in the ass

i don't see any reason you couldn't just mulch it. You want 1" or so, so could cover most the rocks if it is like a waste bunker. Could get you a better look and cleaner appearance of the area with more refined outlines and such

Yeah, you can dethatch now. It's a lot easier before the grass is full, but it's still fine to do.

Killed three bunnies with my new mower yesterday. Felt terrible. Ran over two (didn't seem them until after I made the pass and they were flopping around). Flat out ran over another and chopped it in to about 50 pieces. One escaped without injuries. Just part of country livin I guess.

Ohio bunnies clearly lack Florida speed. Urban needs to get some cruits up there ASAP.

But seriously I take out some toads but bunnies don't really have a problem avoiding a riding mower here.
