still cannot believe this hopkins team is in the final four. have they announced coach of the year yet? it's gotta be petro
Just saw the replay of that hit on the opening shot. That was really weird looking. Seems like he was stunned in that first hit, then got bumped and collapsed.
Hell of a soccer game going on in the background of this petro interview (but seriously, rip Jeremy huber)
That Hopkins offense should be able to score. Very similar to last game. Faceoff domination playing a huge role. Hopefully Hopkins can flip the script earlier than ND did
Also insane that Marylands top 2 goalies are from Ohio and Texas. Just speaks to the spread of the game
I think yesterday was the first time I've watched a lacross game in its entirety. I find the sport very interesting and wish I would have played growing up, but it wasn't quite as popular back then. I don't really understand it, but I feel like the rules are similar to hockey. Overall exciting game yesterday between Denver and ND. And I enjoy seeing ND lose at anything it does.
So now I'm watching women's lacross... Why don't they wear helmets, gloves, or pads? Also what's with their face off? And what's with the semi circle around the goals? Fouls also seem to be very abundant.
I guess I just don't understand why women play different sports if they want equality then. It appears that men's lacrosse is like hockey and women's is like basketball.
Faceoffs are called draws in the women's game and draw controls are apparently very important Those lines near the goal are for penalty restarts, essentially teams get free shots from those lines after fouls called on their opponents near the goal. Defenders are forced behind the line and have to trail the shooter Fouls are very abundant. You have to give shooting space on defense and that's called all the time
I mean in hockey the women can't hit but the sports are actually pretty similar otherwise. There is nothing similar about men's and women's lacrosse besides having sticks and shooting into nets. Different number of players, rules on fouls, size of pockets on the stick, restarts, restraining lines, shot clock, clear rules, types of defense allowed, quarters vs. halves, equipment, field size, substitutions, draw. They are literally the same in name only.
The commentators were just talking about how they don't wear helmets so they won't hit each other in the heads.
Florida and Northwestern women are powerhouses. Seems like Denver is awesome in both. I am excited to watch men's lacrosse in 20 years. Hopefully Vandy and Indiana will both be sponsoring it by then
Big time Denver fan today. Tierney was killing it at Princeton when I was getting into the sport so (other than Saturday) I've always been a fan. Would be great for the sport for a non traditional power to win it all (it would have been better if that non traditional power was notre dame, obviously). At the end of the day, just hoping for a good game. I worry its going to be a very deliberate and slow game, given the two teams playing. Hope in wrong
It's the east (Maryland) vs the west (Denver) It's the big East (Denver) vs the big 10 (Maryland) That's not cool Berg. I'm not over Saturday quite yet. You can't just score the exact same goal
I don't think Maryland has the players to come back. In the game Saturday, ND always had the guys, they just weren't making plays. I don't think MD has a Sergio perkovic. Maybe Rambo is that guy, e shall see
They have two guys that can draw a slide. The best of which goes to his left 95% of the time. Can't see them creating enough to win this game unless Denver turns the ball over repeatedly and Maryland can create some transition offense.
Does Maryland see the ball the rest of the game? Only partially joking. But I'm not confident they even see it 4 more times
Man I almost fell asleep this was such a dominant outing from Denver Hoooray for the lacross frontier
Maryland should be outlawed from playing in the national championship. They just haven't shown up at all in any of the games.
And now we know. ND would have won it all had he been close to 100% @TomMendozaTalks: Matt Kavanagh played in tremendous pain since March. Operation Tuesday (tore two muscles off pelvic bone). One tough dude. #GoIrish
