Supposed to do a trip with some college buddies in either middle or late May, and we're talking about going to Montreal.

None of us have been, so was hoping maybe the wealth of bros on the board might have some advice about where to stay, eat, drink, or throw money at girls.

There's a Montreal thread somewhere on here. Only a few pages long so easy to read, but a lot of info. Go from there, and you can always get back to me if you have any questions.

I was at a hockey camp up in Canada when I was 10 years old. I was down in the pool swimming alone when another kid my age came in. I figured he was also a part of the camp, because the camp is pretty big, and in a smaller community. I swam up to him to say hi, he responded by speaking French to me. I knew that people from Montreal speak French, but the only thing I could do was swim slowly away from him. I swam to the stairs, got out, walked over and grabbed my towel and just left. Funny thing is, I bet that kid had a better grasp on the english language than I did.

besides that, I have nothing to contribute to this page.

Anything more specific? You looking for bars? Restaurants? Strippers? Hotels? Where are you planning on staying, how many people, etc.

Glad I saw this thread. I'll be in Montreal the 16th through the 19th for a bachelor party and pretty excited since I've only heard good things. We're staying at the W. Think here's about 15 of us and we're all pretty big partiers.

Seen a lot of mentions of chez paree and it seems like the best strip club. That right? Any slightly shittier ones that allow more but are still good? Any bars that we should definitely check out? And how easy is it to get party favors? Have a feeling we won't be eating too much that weekend.

I like Wanda's. Kingdom is my go-to when I don't wanna go somewhere too high end but still get pretty hot girls (don't go much anymore though, moreso when I was younger). Solid Gold is also great, though a bit out of the way, and in a less touristic spot.

As for bars, that depends. How old are you guys? What kind of place are you looking for...supper club? Tavern to get wasted? Just a nice place with a lot of people, etc.

As for party favors, send me a PM.

We're all around 30. Would be down for really anything that would have a good atmosphere and good looking chicks. A nice day drinking place would be cool although I guess it's still going to be pretty cold so that eliminates a lot of what you'd typically call a good place to day drink.

Restaurants/supper clubs, bars, and other cool shit. For instance, someone told me the zip line over the river is tight.

I was pricing the Bonaventure and the Omni Royal due to price and location. Thoughts??

Zipline is a fun 20 seconds, and much more enjoyable in the summer than it is in the chill winter.

As for restaurants, Chien Fumant, Dominion Square Tavern, Marconi, Impasto are some places where you'd have fun for a bachelor party. My workplace is pretty hectic also, if you're interested. Provisions is awesome, can't say enough good about that place. Same for Maison Publique. Can't go wrong with L'Express (as Paris as it gets in NA) or PDC for more typical Québécois fare.

If you're gonna go bar hopping on Mont-Royal, Rouge Gorge is a great wine bar, and it's pretty close to Ma Poule Mouillée (best Portuguese chicken and poutine in town, IMO), as well as La Banquise. A few microbreweries around there (Pit Caribou, etc.). St-Sacrament is a cool place also.

If you're gonna hang out more in the mile-end, Bishop & Bagg, Waverly are great. So is Buvette chez SImone. Dieu du Ciel and Vices & Versa are also among the best microbreweries in Montreal. Henrietta is a lot of fun too. If you want to catch a game, you can always visit Chez Serge and their electronic bull. Oh and Whisky Café if you want cigars and whisky.

A lot of tourist traps downtown, but also a lot of irish bars that you can walk to. Focolaio has great pizza. Olive & Gourmando is an awesome breakfast-lunch place (more on the quiet side). Bremner is great if you like seafood also. Oh and Majestique, though a bit further north. Oyster/wine bar open late. Lots of people, lots of restaurant employees so you pretty much always have a good time. Mimi La Nuit in the Old port is a bit similar.

In the Sud-Ouest, Grumman is great, Burgundy Lion for scotch. AA for late night poutine in an old school diner. Greenspot or Evoo for brunch.

Otherwise, for late night eats downtown after the bars, Angela's pizza is legit (they sometimes sell booze to go past legal hours), Dunn's downtown, Boustan.

As for the best poutines...Ma Poule Mouillée and Chez Claudette IMO.

Will definitely look into these places, thanks!

Is the likelihood of solid weather in mid May pretty high? Also, friend who was recently up there told me the strip clubs were overrated since they're pricey as fuck. Thoughts?

It's normally anywhere between 55 and 75, so warm enough, I guess. Well, yeah, they're expensive, but aren't they everywhere? Also remember that you're paying cheaper because of the dollar conversion.

True enough. Not particularly into them myself, but I've heard good things about the women up there and this will be a group call.

Do you recommend parking it at a club and doing bottle service to avoid multiple lines and covers?

Heh, it's the kind of place where it's fun for a hour or two, but hanging out too long is expensive and repetitive. Get trashed somewhere, and then show up around 12:30-1AM IMO. A bottle or two for a big group, sure. Otherwise, order rounds IMO. Then again, I used to spend more time there when I was younger so maybe that has to do with it. I will say though, ordering a bottle will normally get you nicer seats, as doormen can and will move people who aren't drinking enough.

Hey Champ are drinks free at the casino while you're playing and can you drink at the tables? Everything I googled was saying no but they were all older articles and message board posts so hoping maybe that's changed.

Nah, you have to pay. Drinks and food are free at the Indian casinos outside of the city though.

Burgundy Lion pub is a great spot to start out at or end up at. That entire area where Joe/Beef Liverpool House is money.

Going to Paris next week and wish I was going to MTL : /

Forgot to add. So my buddies end up at Sous Bois but the bouncers say if you aren't on the list and we don't know you, you ain't getting in. So they banter back and forth with the bouncers but they won't budge. As he's leaving my buddy says well for fucks sake, the bartender at Les Enfants said to come here.
All of a sudden the bouncers are like, really? Les Enfants sent you here? Next thing you know they are getting ushered in and apologies abound. Hahaha

Was there for a bachelor party the weekend before last. We found Chez Paree the best of the strip clubs there.

Went to a restaurant called buona notte that was insane. Literally every hostess, server, bartender was a 10. Place turned into a club at night after we finished eating.

So friends and I are headed to this amazing city June 2nd for a concert at the Belle Center. We have been 3 previous times and had a blast. Last time out we ate at Moishes and Weinstein and Gavino's, hit-up Big In Japan along with a few hole in the wall bars. We also went to Chez Paree which was a disappointment and Wanda's which was better, but not nearly as good as what we were used to.

We are looking for recommendations for bar and restaurant close to the Belle Center before the concert for Friday, a more upscale dinner Saturday night along with an upscale stripper situation. We are looking for something private and lengthy with gorgeous women. Not asking too much:D

    Anyone have recs?

Yeah, those are nice venues. Bar wise...Foufounes Electriques for punk or metal. Divan Orange maybe for rock/hipster music. Diese onze for blues or jazz. Bistro a Jojo for blues or rock. Ritz PDB for indie rock. Cafe Campus or Olympia (have a look at their schedule online) are fun also.
