I'm no Montreal expert, but I went there once 2 years ago. I got some poutine at this fast food joint called "La Belle Province" and it was awesome. I'll also echo the people who recommended Crescent St. for bars. Theres a ton of bars to just hop around at.
La banquise it is...try out La belle province during the day but la banquise is ghe place if youre drunk. Tong sing mon nan in the chinese village is great as well...open till 4am, keeps serving beer and their fried calamari are awesome. What kind o bars/music do you normally like?
If youre looking for the cheapest sports bar...try out La station des sports. 6 bucks a pizza, 17bucks for a gallon of beer. Foufounes electriques is my favorite bar...great bar if you like cheap beer, trash music.
Really sucks for the old thread. Bunch of travel advice, and BamaNug tale of his escapade at the strippers on shrooms are lost. :(
While I am disappointed, that may not be the worst thing for my career going forward. Now it can just be like a legend that keeps growing. Never let facts get in the way of a good story.
Im really really really really pissed that the old thread got lost. Lots of info in there. My girlfriend got us tickets, hotel, flights to Osheaga for my bday. Doing the 30th to 3rd. Effing stoked. Will be leaning on you beaucoup.
Nice, I'm sure you'll have a blast. In my opinion, that's one of the best periods of the year to visit. Sure, it's full of tourists and hipsters, but they're happy tourists and hipsters, the weather's gorgeous, and the vibe in the city is great.
Jonah Keri @jonahkeri Canada! Please watch "The Perfect Storm", our documentary on '94 Expos--airs 7 pm ET tonight on TSN5. You'll dig it! https://vimeo.com/91016326
I know some of you asked about quebec city. Le festival d'été, goat. Rolling stones and foo fighters on les plaines this year. The city is fun during le festival.Plus great restaurants, it's just not Mtl especially the nightlife. Smaller but if you know where to go quebec is a Nice city.
this seems a bit ridiculous - or do the Habs usually do this? http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/canadiens-rest-from-physical-series-vs-senators/
Worked double shifts on both Wednesday and Thursday, haven't even been able to watch the game. What'd you think of it?
Didn't think they matched the intensity Ottawa brought. Looked like they spent a few days of r&r at a resort.
Meh, in the long run, if we win the next game, those days spent resting might pay off. It's a long season, the team seems as tight as ever, they're pros, they reached the semis last year. I have faith.
Your airport is too damn pricey $600 direct for Osheaga. Could've gone to the mediterranean for that. YOLO.
I hate the MTL airport. Worst part about the whole trip I flew round trip from Nashville to MTL for right about 400 a person...
Quebec City was the cheapest to fly into for me but did not want to take train or rent a car Delta is really the problem, their options to Canada are scarce.
i've been before i've had poutine before (And will multiple times on this trip) never been up for summer, it'll be interesting
What's wrong with the airport? It's pretty new, pretty tightly built so you don't walk too much nor do you get lost, plenty of buses, cars to rent, a bunch of taxis, it's not TOO far off from downtown (compared to places like Paris or Barcelona), and the signs are bilingual. Food options aren't quite there, but they're getting better every year. Not like the food is any good in LA, Chicago, Paris or even Barcelona. Some of those were truly awful, while you've got quite a few options in Montreal.
