always cracks me up when these multi millionaire athletes compare playing their sports for 5-10-20 millions a year to slavery
just letting you guys know that i'm ignoring this thread
I need this thread in my life right now
you need some Princess Pang in your life right now
Jerry Jones is a terrible person
Did the Lakers win tonight?
Slave mentality does not mean the actual treatment is comparable to slavery, fyi
First page real estate yuk yuk
I only drink the finest breast milks.
Oh I understand that but it’s ridiculous to make that argument. Does lebron feel like he is using slave mentality when he goes to the hotel and let people carry his bags to his room?
Nothing about what he says makes any sense. It’s not slave mentality to ask your employees to act a certain way when they represent your company, if it doesn’t work out just go play elsewhere.
Plus saying that the players make everything go is just silly, start your own league guys and see where it goes.
If he really said that, he's arguably the dumbest man in sports
But the guy has the goat PR team, everyone will stand behind him and these ridiculous comments. People are also very dumb, lucky for Lebron
Nah. You always have FSU's offensive line coach.
That's true. But I bet even he understands the basic functions of a business
I could put up with a lot of shit to make millions a year. Without the players, the owners are still billionaires. Without the owners , the players are going to struggle.
Lebrons comments make it seem like he has no idea that the team owners are the boss and the players are employees... let’s cry about having to do what your boss tells you to do
A little “slave uprising” probably wouldn’t hurt the NFL that much might fuck up some fantasy keeper leagues though
Why do you do this?
There was an argument before collective bargaining.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Green Bay, every Bundesliga team shows that you don't need some rich prick to run a franchise or league and reap all the rewards. The biggest crock of shit with American sports is how teams don't have to disclose their finances.
Problem with the NFL is there is no player the league needs, OBJ and Gurley retire and the league doesn't suffer at all. Why there aren't guaranteed contracts like pretty much every other sport. Until players get a level of solidarity and take on the system, NFL owners still have it better than anyone/Goodell continues to make $40 million a year keeping them happy.
Why is it a crock of shit that a privately owned business doesn’t have to open up their books to the public?
A lot of the reaction to his 2010 decision to join the Heat was slave like mentality.
If you’re constantly trying to fleece the public into financing your most expensive assets then your finances should face some level of scrutiny
Barcelona and Real have routinely gotten preferential treatment from financial institutions when building debts. 20 years ago Real sold their training pitch at an inflated price to the bank to wipe their debts. Spanish clubs were found to be in receipt of illegal state aid with their dealings with banks.
Not a great example.
Tbf, NFL owners just got the golden ticket with their teams but the legacy ownership families did stick around for years making very little money; the Hallas, Rooney’s and Maras of this world.
There is definitely things to criticize them over. The way they hold cities over a barrel for state money is pathetic and immoral. They probably should pay out a degree of guaranteed contracts, certainly it should be more than now. I’m very wary to describe it as a slave like mentality though, all the major sports leagues have sufferered disruptive labour strikes in the last 30 years. The players have extracted a lot more value from the leagues. The leagues are monopolies, but they’re inevitable ones with the way people consume sports. There has been no shortage of other football leagues trying to set up, they fail because people just want to watch the best.
I love the white people chiming in on “Slave Mentality”
I mean, the jews had a tough run of it for a minute on a couple occasions but I get your point
I like when anyone chimes in. No one alive today was a slave in 1860
I think the pissed off players should just leave the nfl and find other lines of work. That’ll show them owners
This is the worst aspect of the current structure of the league. I think it’s more “late stage capitalism” than plantation/slave mentality though: these are multi-billion dollar companies that represent huge financial revenue to their respective cities.
They simply threaten relocation if they don’t get tax dollars for their stadiums.
To be clear, I don’t know the answer. Shits like fucked up and stuff though. Glad I can provide this valuable insight thank you no interviews please.
He’s right about Green Bay and German soccer tho
Guy should shut up and dribble if he knows what’s good for him
That is a great point I bet no one thought of.
I knew you would be ITT. Your white knight cuckery never fails
Pretty smart of Lebron if he is trying to get his agency I mean Rich Paul NFL players as clients.
If no one alive today was a slave in the 1860s, how do we even know there were slaves back then?
White people are literally the worst.
I’m sorry you agree with millionaires being compared to slaves. Can’t help you any further
are you aware of what slavery is?
what does this even mean? What disqualifies a white person in 2018 from talking about slavery? Are you just racist?
Tom Brady needs to get off that slave plantation
Oh please, slavery for the black man was like 200 years ago
Yeah and since we got rid of it everything has been fine for the African American folks. They really should stop complaining
Yes when they are worth half a billion dollars
Agreed. LeBron is very rich so he has no business speaking about any issues he perceives as wrong because they don’t directly affect him. He should be quiet because he is rich and happy.
