Wait, cocaine is legal in Oregon now? (This is what I just read on Facebook)
Not legal, just decriminalized possession. Manufacture and Distribution are still felonies. Possession is a misdemeanor and not an arrestable offense now.
So the meme I read that said cocaine is legal in Oregon but straws aren't was misleading??
It blows my mind how many people in this country don’t understand the difference between decriminalization and legalization
Oregon didn't outlaw straws, they banned restaurants from putting them in drinks without being asked by the customer for a straw.
actually lets be real.
if you happen to look at amsterdam everything is go .
ya know what ?
not alot of major crime .
why people got it right.
We did completely ban plastic grocery bags though.
Prior to the pandemic, they were charging 5 cents each for a paper bag, or you could bring your own reusable bags. Then they decided they didn't want people bringing their nasty fabric bags into the grocery store and started giving away the paper bags for free again.
they have begun charging again
Denver did the same
Denver’s upcoming 10-cent fee for single-use plastic bags won’t start for more than a year, City Council unanimously agreed Monday.
The fees were set to begin July 1 after the council approved them in December. But the council unanimously voted to push that start to July 1, 2021, as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
Clearly I do not do grocery shopping except for beer.
Driving from Cape Cod to Boston through Western Mass into Albany and down the Hudson River Valley...with legal weed oh hell yeah
Canandaigua in the summer with legal weed hoo baby
Finger Lakes life has always been sweet. Will be even better now
My aunt and uncle own a winery on Seneca Lake. Go up there for the 4th every year, such an awesome area.
More than 2/3 of the 58 million people living in the northeast will live in legal states with NY finally getting on board
Looking forward to getting incredibly high this evening via some Sunset Sherbert
Arizona and now NM getting on board is so amazing. Such gorgeous states and being able to freely drive around with sick flower is gonna be so rad
I wanna legally send shipments to my TMB friends make it happen House/Senate please
$4 packs of 100MG edibles at my disposal right now, place is losing money selling them but there's some kind of edibles price war in MI I guess
I want you to be able to send me things too.
I wonder what will happen with federal legalization and state illegality. Will someone be able to send stuff via the federal postal service, or would the strictest law between the two take precedent?
Maybe this helps win over some GOP senators? You'd think AZ, MT and SD going along would help too
Supremacy clause means that shit is legal everywhere immediately. Same reason that gay marriage was legal in every state when the Supreme Court decision came down.
It's the same reason why state legality is so tenuous. The feds could, at any time, decide to enforce the federal prohibition and the states could do fuckall about it.
Gentlemen, start your spliffs
Of course the actual state market regulation would vary so it's not all going to be equally accessible but at least you won't go to jail for it.
So are we looking at federal changes here in 2021? Does Vegas have odds on this?
When the senate majority leader and Charles Koch are both on the same side (and you have the house and the presidency) it seems more likely than it doesn't, to me.
It seems like koch is more important than any of the others, but he's also a known lying shithead, so I'll believe it when I see it
Can still get a dui
hope Biden has evolved on this issue bc whenever he gets asked about it his answers sound like George HW Bush.
Yeah but hopefully Kamala can kick him in the nuts and tell him to get on board because she is pro legalization
When billionaires start throwing their weight around in America, as fuck up as it is, things tend to happen. If real money gets behind it it's just a matter of time.
No doubt - if they really want it. But I'm old enough to remember him giving interviews about regretting funding trumpy candidates, days before funding more trumpy candidates
Part of the article that was of particular interest was they support open markets and low tax rates. I see what they're doing.
Low tax rates hey Illinois let's get on board. Joke system
I would pay a 500% tax if texas would legalize
The MORE Act (passed by the House in Dec. 2020) only removed cannabis from the federal Controlled Substances Act and did not affirmatively legalize it. So, if enacted, under the 10th Amendment state law would control. So state laws criminalizing cannabis would remain in effect, and states that legalize it would also remain in effect. As far as I am aware, whether federal proposals will go beyond the MORE Act isn't yet known.
Enough dominos have fallen in the form of states going medical/rec that the Kochs of the world know it's a losing battle and might as well shift to the other side to start making money on it. The Morgan and Morgan guy in FL made huge pushes in FL for it cause his Dad had glaucoma, yada yada but I heard he had grow facilities ready to go the moment they passed it. This could have been a bs rumor but he for sure had commercials running constantly advocating for it.
The ball, it be rolling
Spoiler: Lmao bama

so VA is the first southern state to fully legalize it?
July 1 will be a happy day for folks there
Isn't the biggest deal with that being opening the industry up to banking?
That was a separate bill that’d be an intermediate step toward legalization. I think
if the initiative process is outdated (whatever that means), than any initiative passed is just out the window?
will of the people be damned.
Haven't heard a peep on a national level since Schumer mentioned a while back he was going ahead with or without Biden's blessing
So fuck him and thank god for legal states
