I don't discuss what I give up, but I can't wait for the sideways looks after I get ashes tomorrow morning
For some reason drinking alcohol or not doesn't have an affect on my weight Not sure if that's abnormal or not
Not religious but I'm going a month without alcohol. Started yesterday and will go to March 10. Very interested how much weight I lose and money I save doing this, though it sucks that it's going to be in the 80s this weekend in Cali. Doing a beach day with water/Diet Coke/whatever isn't quite the same.
Giving up alcohol as well. I havent done it for Lent in a few years. Lost a lot of weight last time, both from the alcohol itself and all the crap food I eat when I drink.
I used to be the same way. Wait till you get older. I still sometimes feel and look thinner in the morning after a night of drinking. Crazy.
Coffee. Diet coke. Caffine. Chocolate. Masterbation. Porn. Alcohol. Beer. Wine. Fried foods. Candy. Soft drinks.
Giving up pop, cokes, soda, whatever you wanna call it, i'll give that up. no way i can give up caffeine all together.
masturbate /ˈmæstəˌbeɪt/ verb 1. to stimulate the genital organs of (oneself or another) to achieve sexual pleasure
question ? Why do you give something up ? What does it gain ? In doing so do you grow closer to God ?
It's become somewhat distorted over the years. You should use the time where you would be indulging in whatever you give up in prayer or meditation with God, or perhaps reading the bible. So if you 'give up' something you are doing often, you will end up spending a lot of religious time from now until Easter you might not have in the first place.
For some reason drinking a la croix makes me thirstier than I was before. It's disappointing bc some of those flavors seem like they'd be so good.
so basically Lent in modern times is just some stupid bullshit for fake ass Christians to have some sort of connection to their religion and make them feel better about themselves. . . that's what you're saying?
not catholic but: fast food/fries and booze on weekdays (excluding trivia night and excluding unc games) what a time to be alive
How is that edgy? It's not going to make you a better Catholic or person for giving something up I promise
It's edgy because you're making a super original snarky comment about a people participating in a religious observance. Why do you care what people are refraining from doing or why they're refraining from doing it?
Made it 17 days in 2005. Felt like I was thawing out a caveman that had been frozen for thousands of years.
Yes, all the time I would normally spend eating fried food is now devoted to Christ. Just this morning, I rolled through the CFA drive thru and asked for some daily scripture rather than a delicious fried chicken biscuit.
