Giving up sweets and alcohol as well. We made tomato soup and grilled cheese for dinner. Had PB & J for lunch.
Gave up dark sodas. I still enjoy the occasional ginger ale in my old age. Holding very strong. Forgot about the meat thing and ate it twice.
My bishop said that we had given up enough due to the quarantine and that we could eat meat today. I figure i deserve it after watching mad online last Sunday.
For anyone looking for an idea, last year, i started intermittent fasting (stop eating at 8p and don’t start until 12p the next day). It was very easy, i lost like 10-15lbs during Lent and just felt a lot better. I’m still doing IF most days of the week and I’m down 50-60lbs since this time last year (also started running and run about 25-30 miles per week now). I firmly believe the IF jump started the will to run and get in better shape.
Our parish asks all parents with a kid playing a sport to work two fish fry’s per sport because the revenue funds all our school sports programs. I have to work prep for the fish fry tonight. Who’s joining me?
I wish these were more of a thing in the South. At most, a parish will have two through the course of Lent.
If I didn’t have painting plans, I’d drive down and make annoying requests and eat all the fishes. Let me know the next one :)
Our parish will gross between $10-15k tomorrow night. We even have a drive through that will have 50 cars winding through the parking lot between 6:00 and 7:00 at the peak rush.
Does anyone have any podcasts or other media they like from a spiritual aspect? Doesn’t have to be Catholic or even Christian. Could be motivational or something I have a decent commute daily and my podcasts are mostly news based. With everything going on they are kind of a drain and not trying to let that hour of my day sap my mood during Lent
giving up alcohol and my wife is giving up desserts. Also have a couple of volunteer activities lined up for the first few weeks of lent this year
